I'm going to try and run this P.
Haven't been able to play GT this entire summer, this looks like a great race for a return. I imagine everyone's become faster over the summer so I'm looking forward to seeing the amazing times.
Well, until I've been able to get a lap in (tonight after the game maybe)...

sport soft tires? I can't use racing in my arcade. I've been working on the sweat and sour and then went streight to this with ss/ss and it was quite a shock.

Looks like a splendid finale, Ron. 👍

The Spoon S2000 and the RX-7 are some of my favorite cars and I'm certain, they'll suit New York perfectly. Looking forward to get started. :D

Welcome arora. Hope you'll find the time to do this one. :)

Edit:

And great fun it is. :D

First short session:

Forward:
Spoon: 1'44.199

Reverse:
Mazda: 1'43.805

Total: 3'28.004

So which one of these two do you guys like more?
I just spent some time on the race and loved the RX7. Unfortunately I don't have a time to submit since I ran in the '00 RS and not the '98 (specs are the same but who knows if they are the same in the ways we don't get specs for).

In any case, I plan to get a few laps in throughout the day today... It's raining outside and I managed to finish my yardwork just before the storm hit so for now it looks like smooth sailing.
Back once I have some times, till then,
-

Edit:
RX7 RS '98: New York (Forward): 1'44.650

With that said, I'm betting the RX7 is faster than the S2000... I've been out of this for so long and that RX7 felt like it was doing all the work for me.
Maybe I should get in a few laps with the S2k.

(btw, damn GT4 looks good on the ps2!) (been so long I had forgot about it)

Welcome arora. Hope you'll find the time to do this one. :)

Thank you niels :) I found some...

rx foward 144.961
s2k reverse 144.211

2 hr lunch on foward and the last 1 1/2 after work on reverse, hope to better as the week progresses.....

I can actually say after 5 years of OLR I have submitted my first in car driven lap :sly:

Took some advice from Dan/Holl0 on msn last night to stick with the incar view for more than a few laps to get used to it 👍 ...... I think I'm hooked now as I been racing it for the last 2 hours in the RX7 @ New York forward ... my best run is a 1'41.987 but damn!!! .... I didn't drive it in kiddy view ... woohoo!! :dopey:

Will try the S2000 at reverse tomorrow 👍

Updated arora, ROB256R and me :)

Hi arora, I was using the proper incar view where you see no hood/bonnet for this lap ... but its the first time I ever raced a whole session in that view, as when I tried that view before on previous attempts I gave up quickly due to lots of offs and contacts ..... normally I race in kiddy view behind the car! hopefully things will change now and will test this view on more tracks to get a proper feel of it

Good to see you back Kent :) The RX7 is the better drive IMO 👍

Just had a few laps each way, to get some times in... both clean and both done in in-car view too and not my usual bumper view :D

1'43.499 forward in RX7
1'45.734 reverse in S2000

I only done about 5 laps in the reverse one... it sure is hard with not many brake markers :grumpy:

Total time = 3.29.233 (i think)

Oh, I see, It's funny what one gets acustom to, I started the series in gt3 and I always used the view where you see the hood, somewhere during gt4 I switched to the bumber cam.... the other day I was driving in the hood view and my 9yr old kid said "remember dad when that was the only way you could drive?" real funny.... By the way there is absolutely no way I can use the view where you see the whole car, I'd be all over the place. lol

You want to have seen the looks I got when at LAN meetings and the only person racing in kiddy view :P It done me in good stead for many years though! but now it's time to dump it and move on 👍

Ran some laps at reverse to get a time on the board ... 1'42.305
Reverse is faster for some reason and I lost loads on the saved lap I have and expect a low 1'41 will be posted by one of the faster guys pretty soon :)

Updated 👍

Yea you might have been using "kiddy view" but in reality your looking at the track, not the car anyway, so any view will work once your used to it. I'll bet you got some strange looks at lan metings untill you kicked em in the pants....

Edit: I'm alot faster on ny rev as well, is the big straight down hill?, the line fits my eye better and exit speeds are faster.

I'm on kiddy view too, Ron. The times I have tried to change I usually suck and laps are minimum 1-2 seconds slower. But just like you, I actually never gave it a fair chance. Never more than 2-10 laps and then back to the chase view. :dopey:

So I'm very interested in your progress. If your transition works out with out too much hassle, I might take the step myself. So please keep us updated. 👍

Why change to the in-car view, Kelly? I had the impression that the majority race with bumper view because it offers you a better view of the road. Are the in-car view supposed to be easier, faster...?

One thing I remember as particular annoying driving with the bumper-cam is the way the ghost suddenly pops up in front of you and blocking your sight. :grumpy:

new york forward with spoon

1'40.636:) will suply a replay in a few hours, lost no time anywhere

If it makes any difference, i drive in "roof" view in GT4 since im able to see my car compared to the track, yet still "feel" connected and apart of it, unlike "kiddie" view. Plus i find roof cam better to see whats up ahead and better plan my lines and apex's, plus the ghost isnt in the way. In games that do not provide roof cam i run with bumper or if the game offers cockpit i always use that. I really think you should run at least roof or bumper since i belive this enables you to better see the road/lines/apex's and your connected to the car so you can better sense/feel how the car behaves and when it oversteers etc.

I use out of car view and it seems to be doing me just fine so far. I've tried switching but it's just not faster for me.

Thanks for the input guys. 👍

It all makes sense. I guess it's about time to do the change. :dopey:
I'll have to wait till next week though as I'm already involved in 4 races this week. And it probably will take some time to get used to. :scared:

New times for me:

Forward:
Spoon: 1'43.417

Reverse:
Mazda: 1'42.805 ( precisely 1 second faster. :dopey: )

Total: 3'26.225

It's always interesting to find out how others play the game. 👍 I used "kiddie" view up until midway thru GT3 and switched because I heard it was faster. But with GT4 and normal cars I couldn't get used to the bumper view with the up and down motion of the suspension under braking and acceleration. Makes me nauseous....:ill: So I've always used the roof cam in GT4. Besides.......I like seeing the fenders! :dopey:

inside inside car view for me, its the closest u can get to the front of the car, and hence logically speaking u will ultimately have more of a feel of the cars handling at any one moment

I've confused you Niels, sorry :sly: When I say bumper view, I mean hood/ bonnet view.. that's my usual for GT4 in GT3 I used kiddie view too! But now I seem to be enjoying the drive more in total in-car view instead of seeing the hood. The ghost is annoying though so I tend to turn it off.

Hope that makes a bit more sense? Damn us Brits! :dunce:

An update for reverse is 1'44.538

Also what I find strange is I can use "bumper/in car" view fine on the city courses with lots of walls, but on the open tracks I'm too chicken and tend to use my regular "hood view" I don't know why that is!

:D I just started doing this and I'm already here more than I should be :D

The ghost can really bother you in bumper cam but after a while you'll get used to toggling it off and on, I do it all the time to see where I'm at....

Lowered my times on both tracks last night by about 1/2 sec each but I'll wait to post times untill the progress is significant or I feel maxed out.

I've confused you Niels, sorry :sly:

Ha! I can manage that all by myself.

Really just a matter of concrete thinking. When I sit inside a car I can always see the the hood/bonnet. And when I lying on the hood/bonnet leaning my chin to the bumper I can see only the road. :dopey:

Luckily nobody has introduced the first, second and third person view in the discussion yet. When you start doing that I'll loose it completely. :scared:

Well, thanks for the inputs again. Definitely gonna try to make that change next week now. :D
