 Not really I've been working a lot so I haven't got the chance to crack it open. I suspect the starter just came loose because when I got under it the starter bolts werent too snug. Still that means i got to drop the trans.

At least it's better than what I was thinking.

As an update I may have to sell the trans am as after a month and over 500 dollars later i've only got to drive it one week which is crazy. This thing is really turning out to be the pontiac from hell.:banghead: Now the flywheel is about to be finished but the negative terminal tries to arc weld itself to the cable when I connect the battery so I get to play find the short, then figure out what popped when it happened. woo-whoo!:grumpy:

Ouch, that really sucks... :( Sad to hear that the Pontiac might have to go. I know how it feels though, my first car was a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback that only lasted four months. The worst part was, everyone in my family knew it was a ticking time bomb and wouldn't last. But gave it to me anyways, with myself being the only one with hope that it could be fixed. A couple months after that, it was sold for scrap...

Well, mine was a free hand-me down. So it wasn't worth much and it wasn't really as cool as your Pontiac. If only I had posted in here earlier, still a cool car!

Well she's finally back but the news isn't good. Turns out that this is the worst case scenario and there is a balancer plate on my 383 to mate it up to the 153 tooth flywheel so its sits back about an 1/8 inch too far. doesnt sound like much but even with the starter shimmed it only grabs about a quarter way in which means this aint gonna last too long. Worse the only fix is a 500 dollar conversion flywheel for my t5 that wont hold up anyway. Although i did get to play a little today and its way too fun to sell before i do whatever i can to fix it even if its a 2500 dollar t56 swap. :D

Update: after getting the flywheel done and crossing my fingers, everything is fine! Well for now at least  Cant decide whether to get the seats and interior done or new wheels now though. Sidepipes must go though every cop in the area stalks my car when i have it out which is less and less as it gets cold.

Once again I spoke too soon. It blew the intake gasket and ruined the oil I just put in that day. 50 dollars shot. What's better is I might have to pull the motor to get the distributor out so itand might not run till next spring now

Well got the intake gasket done, just have to set the timing and itll be back on the road.:)

Only bad news is that the heads are only gm 882 castings. So it isnt making the 400 hp i want more like 325-350. :grumpy:

Yea I wish, the north east is supposed to get a giant storm this week so I got it done just in time to store it.

Are the heads ported out? I'd have the intake and head ports matched, that will do wonders if they aren't. Even getting them ported will help a lot, but the key is to make it nice and smooth as that is what really helps. What type/model intake is that as well?

I know 882 heads are boat anchors, but home porting should be able to get them breathing a lot better. Home porting isn't real tough, you just need one of those hand held grinder things and some time.

The intake is a performer rpm which is as good as it gets for a dual plane. The 882's are cleaned up a bit but nothing special. Just took it for a ride tonight after doing the intake and replacing the plug wires and wow gained 40 hp right there:):), found one was burnt bad meaning it was running on 7 cylinders. Im not taking the thing apart again anytime soon  unless its for some nice aftermarket heads.

And once again the trans am is down. Took the car out for some fun Saturday and noticed it was still using tons of coolant but was't smoking or getting any into the oil. noticed a puddle down my driveway after i parked it of coolant, busted radiator. New record though the car officially only lasted one day before it broke again. :( Hope it can be repaired im running out of time before winter and money.

:Update: Even with school I managed to fix the rad problem which turned out to just be a cracked hose and got to drive it until it got too cold. It does however go in Monday to get the inch plus of play in the steering wheel fixed for free! Well, I have to pay for parts. I cant wait for spring now! Oh and there might be a little surprise under the hood next year and it'll be way more potent than the 383.:sly:

Got to get it out on this warm weather today and even after two months sitting in the cold bam! It fired right up, good old small block. finally got a video of the exhaust, looks crappy sounds great!

As of now I've come to the conclusion it is pontless to really do much to this motor so a new 1pc main 383 will be in the works next year, perferably afr headed. This year its exhaust, sfc's front end rebuild and maybe a small plate kit. I still have a transmission dilemma so first things first.

Its been a while since i posted an update but now is as good time as ever, after fighting the trans am for almost a year I ran out of time and money when the transmission took a crap and started to whine, since i needed a daily driver I chose something sensible; a stock 94 camaro auto with an lt1
here she is:

and heres my baby leaving :(

Sad to hear the old girl is gone, but hopefully she went to a home that will get her running in A1 again.

Not a bad Camaro, my friend had a '94 back in high school. The only thing to watch out for is the transmission. They're notorious for slipping after awhile, and there's nothing like pounding the gas and watching the RPM's climb to the redline as the transmission slips before finally engaging and almost snapping your neck.

Those tail lights have to go though, sorry.

The transmission was rebuilt with a new higher stall converter and a shift kit
2 years ago so it should be goo for a while.
You don't like the euro look? neither do I, I'm not sure what replacements I'm getting though

The wing looks awful, until you see it in person. But I'm still undecided on it. I wanted a ws6 but the price was right on this one so I settled. I miss the kitt look alike too
