Self Defense is one thing.
Killing to eliminate witnesses, may indeed "protect" you from going to prison, but I maintain that it is a heinous activity to undertake teaching the technique, especially by demonstration, to "apprentice" robbers.
Now, if you are on about the death penalty I've made my opinion clear on that.
Keep in mind that I have actually spent time in prison working with inmates. I also grew up around Crips and Pirus. Trust me, these are not nice people. If you "violate" their turf, and are caught, your punishment will be a thorough beating, if you are not gang-related.
If you are a rival gang member, your life is forfeit.
Inmates are against the death penalty almost to a man. By the same token, they will kill a known child molester if the opportunity presents itself to do so without being caught.
So, even among inmates there are some things that are punishable by death, even though they are "opposed" to the death penalty.
For the sixty four dollar question: Would you want a known murderer for a next door neighbor? That's not a wrongly convicted murderer. But a known murderer.
