SCANA | WEEK 2 | The Samsung 250

I'm hosting a card night this Saturday, starting at 5pm, so it's very unlikely that I'll be there.

If there isn't a full field, could I start and park for last-place points?

I don't have rules against that. Should be fine to show up for the first lap and get 1 point. Or stay the entire race and get last place points.

Your choice.

Chad

Hi guys, apologies but going to have to back out of this Saturday due to family commitments.

Will be around for the FND still though.

Cheers

Sorry to hear man. Have fun with the family. 👍

I should have my new 3D TV before Saturday. I hope it looks good. I hope I got it for FND, but im not sure if it will be here in time.

Chad :)

Tweaked my setup last night while practicing with NitrouStang96. I'll be faster and more consistant with my laptimes than in the qualifier. :dopey:

Though I don't have the pace required for a good qualifying lap. (I'm probably looking at 5th or worse)

Thanks Chad, although unless they order me to play gt5 I question the fun levels lol.

I have a 3d tv but choose not to play gt5 on it, I find it distracting, but still looks excellent.

👍 That is important. If you can run 20 laps, you could put the entire field down a lap the whole race. I will be online tonight to work on loosening up my setup more.. Then will run a few tires tests for wear in times.

I'll find out. Although I did not buy the 3D entirely for GT5, it should be a great spectacle.

I'm gonna practice in my lounge now for a bit, so I can test more things. I still have 2 pit strategies I could use and I'm going to find out which would be better. (Assuming a caution free race though.) 👍

If I'm not in my lounge, chances are I'm eating dinner or I've finished my testing.

The caution rules still stand. A caution may come out for you if you are endangering the field. Or is really is up to the race admin to make that call. I think we might see some cautions. I hope. I want a competitive race and not a strung out green flag race. I think durning the qualifier we had 2 people on the lead lap by the end. I want to avoid that this time.

But I obviously can not control how the race will work out.

CAUTIONS RULES:
ONLY MULTI-CAR accidents will bring out the caution.
Single Spins WILL NOT BRING OUT THE CAUTION. Be fore warned. If you are NOT endangering other drivers, a caution will NOT come out for you.
When you spin [single car], move as best as you can off the racing line.
Cautions Last 2 Laps. Example, if the caution comes out on lap 3, then we take the green flag going into lap 5.
When there are 3 laps to go, and if a caution exists; the feild will be required to enter a RED FLAG state. The field will remain in a red flag state until all other drivers are caught up.

Since the season's schedule still isn't finalized, I thought I might propose events at Monza and LeMans (without chicanes for both), Suzuka East, or Madrid (short). To have 8 of 10 events at three tracks seems a bit excessive. This would at least mix it up a little more. I really wish they had left Twin Ring Motegi and the Test Track in the game.

The test track would make for really high speeds and high gearing. If you had nobody to draft with, you'd drop waaaaaaay back. 👍 But think how long a pace lap would take!

The old/original Monza would also make for a great NASCAR track, but it isn't in the game. (No chicanes at all, and the oval included as the first part of the lap). If you don't know the old layout, it's in the track logo.

The old oval plus road course layout for Monza would have made for great racing, no doubt. What was one lap, something like 6+ miles?

Week 9 is most likely going to be Suzuka East.

I did some testing there a few week back, and it looked like it was possible to run a race there. Its short, and there are plenty of opportunities to pass.

I am going to there tonight, this time I promise. !!!!

I've been busy with my car lately.

Chad

Good stuff Chad, hope you have a fast setup! :sly: I found a few more tenths late last night/early this morning, and could probably get some more. I'll continue testing today, where tiredness won't prevent me from continuing. 👍

A good thing about these practice sessions with other people is that I can see their pace and learn their strategy ;)

EDIT: I may end up only being able to get on from just after 12:30 (7:30 PM EST) on race day, same as with the qualifier. Most saturdays will be like this for me.

I would like to begin racing with you guys. My question is am I only allowed to use those particular cars listed. Reason I ask is because the only car I currently have is the Carl Edwards 99 Ford Fusion which I prefer to use. If there is a rule stating one car only allowed per race then I will abide by that. Thanks in advance.

I will gladly donate whatever car is needed for a fellow W-S resident. Just let me know.

Oh hey Droptop didn't realize we were in the same neck of the woods!

Just FYI, no one has the orange #20 Home Depot car yet. It looks like every other car is likely to be on the track this weekend, except the 24, and maybe the 83. Those cars are reserved by members, so they could be in future races, though.

It would be nice to have a medium sized track like texas or atlanta... and maybe even a short track like richmond or bristol.

Night races at Bristol and Richmond, with day-to-night cycles at Daytona, Charlotte, and Phoenix would have been perfect.

Did you get that car?

Mustang Ryan, I did get your PM. I doubt I will do anything different as of right now. I think you are right, there will be two or three regular members who will not get points. I doubt you will have a problem qualifying for any of the races. If it comes down to the last race, and you do have a ton of points invested, then I might allow you to get in without racing in. But that would not be an exclusive offer to you. 👍

Good luck

Other news:

Last night Joe and I tested. I was able to find out that you can make your tires last 20 laps, just you slow down about 2 seconds from fresh tires.

The leader will always eat their tires fast than anyone. ;)

The funniest thing ive seen all week has to got to b bbnascar for his incoming message. I wont spoil it for you guys if ya havent seen it.

No I have not received a car yet because I still do not know the answer to my original question if it is one car representation. I do appreciate you offering to give me a car being that we are from the same city however that is totally unnecessary. I am not hurting for money at all in this game. Again though I greatly appreciate the offer and am glad to see some fellow W-S residents on here.

Your best bet is to buy the #20 Home Depot Toyota. So far, no one else has it, member or non-member.

I've been trying to get on GTPlanet all week long to no avail. However, I do plan on attending tonights SCANA event in the #20 GameStop Camry provided that space is available.

Congratulations to Joe for his Win. I hope when it counts he will too will push me to victory!

For the most part it was a typical Indy race.

On Lap 89 M-Stall lost control of his car in front of Gtuuk and Chadwicksracing. Gtuuk T-Boned M-stall, which bought out the caution for the first time int he 100 lap race.

Going green on lap 92, Joe was in the lead. Then the caution came on lap 93.

Going green on Lap 94, the caution came out on lap 98. Gtuuk and other spun. The red flag came out on lap 98.

Going Green on Lap 99, a 3 lap shoot out.

Joe was lagging a lot. He lagged so bad he fell back to 7th place.

Racing incident on lap 101 with Gtuuk and Chadwicksracing.

By the end of the 4th corner, we were 3 wide for the finish.
