Hi bullie,

Yes, the plan is to run the same car at different tracks (a different (single) track each round). In other words, this is effectively the schedule for the Ferrari 348 Challenge series. The 355 series (assuming anybody still cares) will probably start sometime in June.

I care... I would not mind racing.. but hopefully connection is better.. I MUST say since that big network error my connection with friends are better, my ps3 time and dates are better.. I could for the first time set my console up 2 GMT+2 before i was running GMT london time but my actual time was jo"berg time.. seems to make a difference.. fingers crossed...

I guess that by that time we wont have GT5 yet so probably we're all still playing Scc by then...💡👍

Variety is a good thing

Agree +1:tup:

Well I doubt that GT5 will be out by then also (I expecting it in December) but, even if it happens (yeah, right, as much as Portugal will win the World Cup at South Africa...) nothing prevents for keeping the 'challenge series'.

Variety is a good thing 👍

Not that this really belongs in this thread but I found this and I'm just in awe...

Oh, I wants it!

Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Imagine this rig combined with SCC's wonderful and strong FFB?

Wow!
That would be incredible if you had it entirely enclosed in a dome with the inside painted a matte black. 👍 That way it would'nt seem so much like playing a videogame while riding a mechanical bull. Otherwise you'd need a strong stomach for some of the really twisty tracks. :yuck:

That's the most violent movement I've seen in a simulator, combined with the fact that it looks like it's set up in a small living room, it looks positively scary - looks like something put together by Wallace - let's hope (unlike the Wrong Trousers) it doesn't fall into the hands of an Evildoer! :ill:

Considering how technology has advanced in the racing sim and gaming world, I bet these will be common place in another 10-15 years. (Right along there with flying cars and hotels on the moon). ;)

You better believe I'll be standing on line. It bet it even comes with a free copy of GT6 (assuming it's not delayed).

But yeah, having this thing in what looks to be a tiny apartment is just whacky. :scared:

UP! With this thread and the series...

Jeff, we're coming close to the debut date for the 348 challenge series and still we have no confirmation about the tracks on which it'll be held on. I think we should set a proper calendar, what do you think?

Last night I had some practice with arvore and mannymoenjack, very enjoyable, and coming from SSv8 and Shift lately to play SCC I can only say this, using the words of that "Poet" of the wheel... AlanG:

AlanG dixit:What a game... what a game!

Laws should be written throughout all world to impose life-time encarceration to those who deny the magnificent handlig of SCC... (just a though... )

BTW: Have you make a final decision as far as setups go? Are they allowed or no?

I don't know if you're planning on using this but, for what it takes, here is the result of the poll on tracks that we held back a few weeks ago:

1 - Spa-Francorchamps (19 votes)
2 - Mugello International (16)
3 - Mont-Tremblant (15)
4 - Monza (13)
5 - Vallelunga (13)
6 - Infineon (9)
7 - Silverstone GP (8) (arvore's is crying in pain...)
8 - Nurburgring GP (8)
9 - Riviera (7)
10 - Virgina International Raceway (7)
11 - Misano (7)
12- Redwood Park (7)
13 - Hockenheim (6)
14 - Mugello Sports (5)
15 - Paul Ricard (4)
16 - Silverstone National (3)
17 - Auto Club Speedway Infield (2)
18 - Homestead Miami Infield (2)
19 - Infineon Sprint (2)
20 - Silverstone Southern (0)
21 - Autoclub Speedway Oval (0)
22 - Homestead Miami Oval (0)

Hi Bullie,

Yes, I suppose you're right. I've just been a bit busy this past week and between Mario's pot luck adventure race and everybody hopping on the SS:V8 bandwagon, I just haven't had much time to really give this series much thought.

The schedule I posted on the last page will probably stand. And as it stands right now, I'm pretty sure I will allow setup changes. I'm not completely happy with the results of the latest patch and the way in which set up changes affect the balance and performance of the car. But the positives outway the negatives. I have given some thought to the tracks and there will probably be some cheers (and some groans). I'll try to finalize everything, latest by this weekend as I still have some details to work out.

Edit: Sorry for the double post but the 1st post (on page 1) has been updated with additional details!

👍 Thanks!

You definitively choose a hard one for the first round. I can imagine already the mess in the sprint race under rain!

This video is the F430 Challenge but it's fun to watch.

Hey, Ace from Simcoe, I'm counting on you and your copies of GT5P, Shift and SCC to be present in the Triathlon part of the Pentathlon.

PS - Sorry Jeff, wrong thread, I know, I know ... :sly:

Hey Jeff, I would be interested in taking part if there's room?

Don't get much time on SCC thesedays so would like to know what kind of lap times to aim for to be competitive with you guys.

Otherwise it's a case of being a mobile road block - which is okay if you know before hand that you'll be the mobile road block...

The leaderboards were recently reseted so it should be much simple...:)

Don't worry about that there is plenty of us" road blocks" around here just join the club...👍

At the Homestead track presently, with the Ferrari 348 Challenge, a top time will by 1'27''xxx

After concentrating on my most recent racing game purchase (SSV8NC) for the last month or so, I made a return to SCC to get some practice in over the last couple of nights.

In the past I always found the 348 Challenge didn't really live up to its name as it was the most benign and safe handling car in the game. However, after being away from the game for a short while, and after getting used to the grippier cars in Jeff's favourite game, I found the 348 very tricky particularly in relation to grip levels. It also seemed bouncier than I remember it but this improved when I stiffened the suspension and so on. It's the first time I've played the game since the latest patch and I see some people have commented on cars handling differently since it was released. I'm not sure whether this is the case here or its my change of perception after playing the other game.

Anyway, I settled back into it and set a time of 1'25.31 at Homestead. It's topping the leaderboard at the moment but I don't see any times set by the usual bit hitters so far. I'm sure that will change.
