SCCA Speed World Touring Car Challenge

Can you make an exception for the Mazda 323 ? I would love to drive it in the series ! ( would need quite a few mods to make it competitive i would thing though...)

The plain A4 shouldn't have anything like that kind of power. More like 200. The A6 may have more, but it's a LOT heavier. The S4 hasn't been raced in the USTCC as far as I know.

The plain vanilla WRX should be pushing around 220 hp, too; not to much.

But if we're petitioning to include additional cars, I for one think it should be limited to cars that have actually raced in earlier seasons of this series.

Hey now...Anything Audi gets allowed, I want a seat held for me!

The S4 was used in the GT class prior to the 2003 season (and even later for a race or two when Galati's RS6 was out of service). The A4 should have low enough hp, but I'm guessing it would be HEAVY--almost too much so to be competitive.

Well, if he allows the S4 into the list, then you and I, my friend, are a team. I have an Audi in my driveway so I'm all for it.

Note to self: "There's no A4 in the game!"

Sorry, don't know what I was thinking.

my problem is that the audi ran stock what these cars are running modded (S4) i will update the drivers list and consider the IS300 no promises though :D also the focus is now taken up and i will update the drivers list in the AM

I didn't realize there were no A4s in the game - my fault.

Remember, if you decide to let the IS300 in, please put Boom and Quattro_bro in there, and ///M-Spec in the TSX seat.

sorry guys no IS300, i would like to have a couple extra spots, and i would like to be as accommodating as possible, but two reasons im not letting it in, one you cant buy it at the new car lot. the rest of these you can, so it makes it easier to acquire, and a used car will be hard to levelize with mods because power is relative to the milage, so if everyone starts with no miles then it is easier to make people even. another reason is because it isnt in the 05 season, i feel like if i let a car in from the 03 season that it would only be fair to go back 13 years to the beginning of the series, and that is just more digging and research than i care to do. sorry guys, but enjoy petey cunninghams, and pierre kleinubings seats while you're here :D

ok guys i ammended the wight penalty rule again, i ammended the part that concerns how the weight comes off, im pretty content with this, if you guys have any other ideas feel free to let me kn0ow, this is your series too, let me know what it takes to have a good time, and be competitive.

Will there be a rule as to where the ballast can be placed?

I believe that SCCA rules state that ballast weight can not be used in a beneficial manner and that all ballast weight is usually located where the passenger seat was.

I hate to ask for another bending of the rules, but can the TSX spot be widened to 3 people? I know ///M-Spec is pretty interested in running that too.

sorry again, ixnay on the 3 people, sorry, but might i suggest the CTR or the volvo, deffinately my favorites of whats left, the CTR is quite agile. if someone wants my spot in the protege, ill relenquish it, it doesnt matter to me. and welcome to the series jay.

oh yeah and as far as ballast goes, weight is weight, and as far as im concerned i am not going to limit someones ability to set up their car by not allowing them to change their weight ballance just because they have weight. (meaning, that in the begining of the series, you can set up your car by moving weight where you want it, and if they get penalized with weight, it isnt fair to make them ruin their settings alltogether by setting it back in the center)

OK, boombexus PMed me saying he would take the Civic Type R and give ///M-Spec his seat in the TSX. Thanks for adjusting the driver's list.

[edit]

I missed the answer if you covered this before:

Are we running simple hot laps, or are we running arcade races? If so, what are the specs for the arcade setup?

LIES! ALL LIES! Damn you Duke. Why must you do this to me every time? You squash me at every attempt. Block me at my every move. You use your Admin status to harass and berate me. I'm tired of this. I'm tired of you. I'm so tired...

Just kidding. :) I did PM Duke, and I will happily take the Civic Type-R.

Sent via private email, but repeated here in-thread.

I'd like to take the second seat for team VW, please.

this is awesome guys. only 3 spots left, and if we can get those two last spots filled before this sunday, i can move the scheduling to start the series this coming week, if you guys want to. no sense in letting signups continue for a full series....let me know what you guys think.

HA! You'll kick my ass no matter what we drive... and they take the leather seats and navigation system out of the racecars anyway!

Blah blah blah - Jordan told me when he offered me the position: "Power - use it or lose it!" So I'm just keeping my dictator skills fresh.
;)
I will happily take the Civic Type-R.
My vacuum cleaner takes Type-R bags! It adds awhole horsepower to the ol' Hoovermatic.
See you on course, man! And thanks again.
;)

I have a feeling that in this series, I will get me azz handed to me on a cast iron platter.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm pretty sure that I'm the designated last-place driver in this series. You may still have various bohinous-type parts handed to you on various metallic platters, but you'll still be in front of me. :)

Hey, I have a modifications question:

The real World Challenge cars (both Touring Car and GT classes) use wings and splitters. Should the specified mod list include adding a wing (which includes both front and rear downforce) to all cars? If you're worried about adding too much grip, we could agree on a specified maximum level of downforce at each end.

I agree with Duke about the wings, but wont it be difficult to decide how much downforce each car will need / use.

Side note, I am guessing you guys have been practicing...I have never raced against anyone really, I am wondering how I am doing...

On the first series race, Twin Rings of Motegi Road Course, I have been pulling 2:09 ish with my Volvo S60...can anyone give hints on what your times are like ?

Well, I was thinking we would set an arbitrary limit that would be common to all cars.

Another approach would be to allow maximum downforce, but cut the tires back to R1s. The real series uses DOT-approved shaved treaded tires, so the R3s might be a tad aggressive on grip.

Well, on the subject of practicing, I bought my car tonight, fitted it out, and ran it for about 60 miles as I adjusted it (say an hour of driving). This is my only experience in the GT4 TSX. I don't plan to put in a huge amount of practice time, because A) I think it's contrary to the spirit of the rules; IRL the teams would only get limited practice times, and B) I simply don't have the time to do it. I love the 1-run rule; I think it's a great addition.

In fact, I'm going to propose another rule in that spirit: No more than 20 laps of practice on any given track. That might open up the door for some new faces.

This is always a sticky subject. Some OLR people are very cagey about posting their times before the final submittal; others are not. Perhaps we better wait for a consensus of drivers or a ruling from the Steward before we go into detail on lap times.

I will say that I'm a bit below that but you're in the hunt. Somebody fast like Boombexus will likely be a bit below me.

While I agree in principle on the limited practice time, I doubt that the RL teams would be unfamiliar with their vehicles. They might not have experience on any particular track with their car, but they'd probably be drive it rather a bit on their home track.

I personally haven't visited the first track in the circuit yet-- I'm waiting for the race week to begin before I start practice. However, I'm putting in 30 minutes or so a night in the seat of my car so I can get comfortable with it on other tracks. I don't need to run a particular track's corners to get a good feel for how the car I'm driving handles.

sorry man, i was going to give all the cars wings, but the only way to make the field even, (and the protege able to keep up) was to give it that extra advantage. if i gave them all wings, i would have to fully mod the protege to even get it close. sorry guys. however, if this series goes as well as i expect it to, i think i will host a winter series with the GT cars, and i think i can make enough power with all the cars to warrant the wings on those.

Whew! I was getting a bit concerned about my ride and (even with the slim pickin's left) thinking about jumping ship on the Protege if all cars had downforce control. This was one of the reasons I chose the Mazda and as YLG said, the only way the Protege could stand a chance. As it stands, the Protege is underpowered and a clear underdog on circuits that focus more on top end.

I still have concerns about the increased downforce and the resulting effect on tire wear, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Hey everyone, this series sounds like a lot of fun. I was wodering if there is still an open spot on the Civic Type R team, Boombexus do you have a teammate yet? If not I would realy like to join.
