Would that not be a bit of a boat anchor in something like the 86?...

I think it's better naturally aspirated, like a traditional sports car.

motortrendAm I alone thinking that is what the corolla should be?
So when they say they want to make a sedan based on it, I would hope they mean just the chassis/drivetrain and a completely different body...
While I agree with the sentiment, that render does actually look pretty good. The proportions work quite well.
Edmundsis considering the development of a sporty four-door sedan based on the FR-S coupe, Edmunds has learned.
A key question is whether Subaru, which co-developed the FR-S with Toyota, will agree to the deal, says an industry source familiar with Scion's product program.
Scion has been "pushing hard for a sedan variant of the FR-S, but Subaru has been dragging its heels on it," said a source who asked not to be identified. Subaru's version of the coupe is the BRZ.
Scion wants to sell the sedan version here beginning in 2016, the source said, but Toyota's other global regions likely would have to buy into the proposal to make a business case.
The coupe is pushing the price limit for many people but it does what it's designed to do so well that it's worth it. I feel a sedan version would muddy the waters, but hey, who knows.
They already make a sporty sedan, the Impreza/WRX, which is a better sedan than the BRZ sedan would be. They also already make a sports car, the BRZ, which is a better sports car than the BRZ sedan would be. Why would they want to muddy the waters with a car that will only scavenge sales from one or both of those cars?I just keep thinking "modern 510" and "modern E30". I like coupes as a rule, but a sedan 86 would be pretty cool.
Also, it amuses me that Subaru, which has pretty much built its reputation on sporty sedans, isn't keen on the idea.
