Would that not be a bit of a boat anchor in something like the 86?...

Needs black racing stripes to set off the pink. Not enough contrast there. Also be neat if they dipped the 86 and Toyota logos in black chrome.

And perhaps some red accents on the wheels, too.

What would everybody thing if the 86 variants were available with a 1.6 Turbo like most small hot hatches how nowadays?

This I agree with. 1600 and 1800cc versions would be nice.

I do like the cars though. They're basic sports cars made to customise.

I think it's better naturally aspirated, like a traditional sports car.

I would hate to think about how little hp those cars will have at my altitude 5000+ Feet above sea level. I really like them but think a small turbo would be awesome.

Strangely, this is the first pink car (of ANY kind) that I actually like. Might actually duplicate that in GT5.

So when they say they want to make a sedan based on it, I would hope they mean just the chassis/drivetrain and a completely different body...

While I agree with the sentiment, that render does actually look pretty good. The proportions work quite well.

Rumor- Toyota wants a sedan version of the 86 but Subaru doesn't
is considering the development of a sporty four-door sedan based on the FR-S coupe, Edmunds has learned.

A key question is whether Subaru, which co-developed the FR-S with Toyota, will agree to the deal, says an industry source familiar with Scion's product program.

Scion has been "pushing hard for a sedan variant of the FR-S, but Subaru has been dragging its heels on it," said a source who asked not to be identified. Subaru's version of the coupe is the BRZ.

Scion wants to sell the sedan version here beginning in 2016, the source said, but Toyota's other global regions likely would have to buy into the proposal to make a business case.

Subaru has no need for such a car. As of yet, there isn't really a market for such a car...a ridiculously tiny, low, over-the-top sporty rear-drive sedan for not a small amount of money? It's not even that nice! Keep in mind that the RX8 is actually a fair bit bigger than the FRS and it's rear seat is barely acceptable for adults.

The coupe is pushing the price limit for many people but it does what it's designed to do so well that it's worth it. I feel a sedan version would muddy the waters, but hey, who knows.

This. The FR-S is already overpriced by at least $3,000, and it seems highly unlikely that they'd make the sedan cheaper, unless they're going for basics inside and out.

If they're going to give me an option between both, I'd go for the sedan. It's something about the car being give/take the size of my old Jetta, with rear-drive, I find that pretty rad. Offer it to me in white or beige, with 16" wheels, and no-frills basics on the inside for $23K, and I'd consider that a pretty fair deal.

If the car is big enough to have an interior the size of your old Jetta it still won't be the size of your old Jetta because modern cars have stouter structures, and this one in particular will have a sizable transmission and driveshaft tunnel.

The only thing you can really compare this car to directly would be an RX8 and this will be the smaller of the two.

It's not much bigger than my car. My car's not much bigger than a new Miata. You want my car with four doors?

I just keep thinking "modern 510" and "modern E30". I like coupes as a rule, but a sedan 86 would be pretty cool.

Also, it amuses me that Subaru, which has pretty much built its reputation on sporty sedans, isn't keen on the idea.

I'd rather have a four door GT-R , Someone do a render of that please !

The front of the GT 86 seems like it would'nt make a good looking four door for some reason.

I don't get how the big bellies at the top of the car companies think?? They finally put out a car that places them away from every other company out there who only produce coutches on wheels and get praised for it, instead of staying true to that formula thy have to eff all up and go and make it a 4 door... Yeah really smart...

They already make a sporty sedan, the Impreza/WRX, which is a better sedan than the BRZ sedan would be. They also already make a sports car, the BRZ, which is a better sports car than the BRZ sedan would be. Why would they want to muddy the waters with a car that will only scavenge sales from one or both of those cars?

When it comes to how big and comfy and useful this car will be, think of a Maserati Quattroporte. Long, low, wide, tight, no headroom, etc. Now shrink that down to the same height and width as an NC Miata. What you have is the world's tiniest and most useless sedan which has no room and rides uncomfortably.
