The X-men 2 "RX-8" was actually 2 different cars. 1, used early on in production of the movie, was just a 3rd gen RX-7 made to look like the RX-8, and was only used in sitting scenes. The other was a RX-8 used in the driving scenes.
That eledgid RX-7 in that pic is just a photoshopped X Men RX-8. You can tell because of the wheels and rear wing, and the color. The head lights look like RX-8 lights towards the edge of the car, and the part towards the center of the car looks all made up in photoshop. The door handle looks to be photoshopped straight from a 3rd gen RX-7. Also, to prove more that it's just a photoshopped RX-8, look at the length of the car. It's the normal length with the rear door lines buffed out. The roof line looks like it's off of a 911, Audi TT, or 350Z. Ohh, and those mirrors are right off of a RX-8.
Pretty poorly done.
Chaser, while Mazda is revitalizing and reinventing themself, they've done it with all of thier model line, except the Miata. The Protege, Protege 5, MPV, Tribute, and B-series(and the new arrivals, in order: Mazda 6, Mazda 2/Demio, Mazda RX-8, and soon, the Mazda 3/Axela), and other non-US Mazdas such as the Premacy, Laputa, Spaino, Bongo, even their commercial vehicles such as the Titan. This all started in 1998. But now Mazda is just renewing thier line up and introducing new cars.
Evidently, the new RX-7 concept car will be at the Tokyo Auto Show this October, so then we will see what Mazda has instore for it. None of the official Mazda sites have any info on it, not even the media sites. I guess it's going to be a surpise type thing.
