Seriously, what's with the gloves?

My hands are just big, and I never use gloves on either my G25 or DFGT.

Unless handling wood. Or cars & car parts.

I never use gloves personally, but, I have alcantara on my Fanatec wheel so its no big deal for me since its super comfy.

I had paid 100 Euro for my alcantara wheel NOT to be worn out quickly and become glossy due to gloves ignorance.
Edit: Original G27 wheel was exchanged with FIA approved racing wheel
And I can drift 4-5 hours non-stop. When I record a video I just don't bother if you know or not how long I've been playing.

I don't wear gloves, but what about shoes?

I wear shoes. I have a pair of driving shoes that are as much a part of the set up as the seat or shifter.

I wear some black rabens, if I go with socks or bare feet I somehow manage to make my feet slip and almost cut my feet from the pedals

I have a set of black air force 1s for when I drive street cars under like 400pp
and some asics wrestlin shoes for everything else ( 98% of the time I play )

Does anyone wear gloves when they drive in real life?
What about when you drift in real life?

What about shoes, do you just rock light+comfy shoes all the time, or do you leave a pair of kicks @ the pedals and switch?

Back before I started school and I still had my s13 insured I left shoes in the car - does anyone else ?

About 1% of the population has sweaty hands all the time and it gets even worse in "stressfull situations". I have this and my hands get super sweaty during an intense race, so if I had a wheel I might use gloves. Just my opinion.

From my personal experience of playing GT5 with a wheel, after practicing drift I ended with with my hands sore and a bit "burned". So I guess that's one of the reasons why some people wear gloves.

I play with my wheel at least 5/6 hours straight without gloves and not once have I had any "defects".

I think personally playing with gloves is stupid especially when your INSIDE. :odd:

I'm pretty sure it's a personal choice for people who wear it. How does it make them stupid?? :odd: I wear baseball gloves in the summer, as I mentioned in an earlier post, how is it stupid??

Bluntified
I wear gloves during the summer mainly, due to sweaty hands like some others lol. I don't use "driving" gloves but rather base ball gloves. I find the material slides nicer on the wheel (nice for drifting) and keeps your hands cool and dry. The ones I have are made of the same stuff used in "thermals", used in sports.

Everyone has their own opinion, do you really have to bash them??

So my hands can breathe.

Tell it like it is!

Yes this is me. >_>

Wicked gloves! :)

I guess in the end it's all down to personal preference, some of us think it's weird, others feel it's necessary... Either way, each to his own...

I been practicing alot lately, since I got my DFGT and I am yet to see a need for gloves... I feel I may need them for an enduro race tho, as my hands get sweaty really fast when holding the same grip point on the wheel... But for drifting, not so much...

I wasn't bashing anyone. I said it was my PERSONAL opinion and to add to that, I said wearing them inside. I wear gloves outside but only when it's cold. Do read more carefully before twisting my words.

Wouldn't that be most people wearing gloves? I don't know anyone that has their racing cockpit outside their house.

Maybe some GTP users do, I've just never seen them.

I didn't twist anything, maybe you should word things differently to avoid miscommunication. YOUR personal opinion is that people that wear gloves "inside" are stupid. It so happens that your opinion results in bashing people.

Like Stavingo said, most people have their rigs inside, so, everyone that wears them inside are stupid??

I wear gloves inside a lot, my bro has a shop, we wear gloves ALL THE TIME, it's inside. I wear oven mitts when handling hot pans, its inside. I wear gloves at work to protect from burns, its inside. Whats YOUR point? You only wear gloves when its cold? Gimme a break.

It's starting to get hot here in Texas and my hands start to feel nasty when I use the G27 for hours on end and I can see areas on the wheel where there is sweat build up and that is gross. I bought some gloves and I stupidly wear them inside because it keeps my wheel nice. Also it's just something else that puts my mind in driving mode and deters me from picking my nose too since I don't want to dirty the gloves.

Yo peeps...

Been watching alot of drift vids lately and so many people wear gloves while drifting............................................... WHY?

I mean, it's a game and its really not that sore to hold a wheel while racing for hours is it?

I dunno, it looks funny to me, I'd just like to hear your guys reasons or opinions on it?

I wear them just to keep the wheel in good condition. After you use gloves for a while then go without them you feel a slight difference. As a far as performance and times depends on each person. Let's call it a personal preference for those who do and do not use them.:)
