^I suspect it has something to do with the psp version unfortunately.

What happened to future proofing cars that they modeled? I'm pretty sure they used their latest techniques in laser scanning the car & that they have more than enough information necessary to make it as real-life as possible.

Safe to say that it wouldn't make sense to laser scan the whole car over again for GT6.

I agree with arvin. I always believed the 800 cars from GT4 would be standard apart from the cars taken from GT4 and given an interior in GT5 Prologue but to put a new car into GT5 and not model the interior? I don't really get the logic behind that at all.

some of the lambos are standard too

i dont understand why someone wouldnt want any car to be premium tbh

im just pissed the 97 supra isnt

Second that. I personally think it definately should have been a premium model given its significance, but can understand why some people would disagree.

What i don't understand is PD's priorities, ie. how can a Miata or Fiat 500 be considered more important than what is arguably one of the most significant cars ever built.

well on gran-turismo.com
some one brought up the fact that they may didnt have the car at the hq or enough pics to properly make the interior and they only put it in gt5 was because it was on gtpsp

I think it has to do more with licensing issues. I don't think Bugatti would agree on depicting the Veyron getting crashed and rolled over. :D

I can't imagine PD doing anything fast.

PD simply need to hire more programmers, that's all. They just don't have the staff right now to play in the major leagues and come up with a full 1000 premium cars lineup and 50-60 tracks in GT6.

They said it takes 6 months for a premium car to be fully recreated by a programmer? So it means if they want to release GT6 in 3-4 years max and come up with "the real deal" ie a full game a la GT4, they need 100 programmers just for the cars. (2 cars a year X 3 years=6 cars for one guy, so 100 guys to get 600 new premiums (new ones+relevant classics from the past titles). Plus more, to get new tracks, tweak the physics, the sound and all those things....

I knew from the start GT5 couldn't be much more than a GT3 for the PS3, with 20-25 tracks and 150-200 cars (standards are not current-gen stuff let's face it!), their only mistake was to make people believe they could do it....

lambo
you gotta count the fact that this a new engine and this is PD first time making cars on it
they should know the ins and outs of it now
so it shouldnt take 6 months ( which i think was an exaggeration ) to make a single car now
which is why kaz said it wouldnt take nearly as long as it took to make gt5

it might be same physics and graphics enhanced a little but it will have more premiums and more features ... i heard he might include motocycles ..

My take on the Veyron is, that it's not beautiful, it has two completely normal V8s and a heck of a load of silicone chips and electric cables. It is fast, but so are loads of other more beautiful and technically astonishing cars. It's a car you'll never get completely into your own control, the computers are always with you. I see that many dream of driving this, but I guess it's more sane than buying an iphone for 1000€.

Technically, there is not a single road car on the planet as advanced as the Veyron. You also talk about computers, but no performance car in the modern age will ever be like an F40 or McLaren F1. The days of arse, car and road are gone.

Y'know, at first I wasn't too fussed about it not being premium. But I've just gone through the car list, and just about every car I want to own in the game has a premium model except that one. I was perfectly prepared to take some losses, but considering it's the only one I can't get, I kinda wish it was now.

Plus the revelation that standard cars don't work in Photo Travel doesn't help. I think the Veyron is a great looking car and would have enjoyed going all artistic on it with a camera.

You might need to explain yourself first, as you're jumping to (irrational) conclusions without anything to back it up either.

Common sense tells me that PD didn't skip the Veyron because they thought other cars were more important. Common sense also tells me that it is because PD, just like us, acknowledges the Veyron as an important piece of automotive technology.

Assuming that there were other reasons for the Veyron not be premium is more logical than assuming that they simply favored other ''ridiculous'' vehicles.

Have you spoken to Bugatti?

no but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it was modelled fully for a bunch of other games. I really want to hear the explanation of why they "couldn't" model it inside. because if it's something stupid like, we couldn't find a willing owner it'll be COMMON SENSE that they didn't try hard enough. not to mention bugatti has veyrons they could've taken pictures of. I really haven't heard another valid reason of why it's standard other than PD did other cars first and ran out of time, so until then, I'll stick with what is the most likely

Race photo taking is still there so its not too much of a lost.

the thing ive learned with this gt 5 saga is that noting is what it is until we have a look ourself (playing it for real).. yes it says standard but if that screen shot is real then i can only say its a premuim. we can see through the window and im sure the standard models have tinted windows cuz if they didnt then PD would have to model the insides too.. the veron on that pic defo has its inside modelled im sure.. .. a picture says a 1000 more stories lol :).

but hey noting is confrimed till its confrimed lol

i like the optimism but if you saw the real gameplay of the standard cars today like I did, you would know why those screenshots don't at all mean it's premium. actually the real standard cars look better

Tell me one reason why it is silly?
Is the Veyron more fun to drive? ...with it's onboard electronics?
Is it more iconic?
Is it an original Bugatti?
Does the Veyron has it's own racing series?
Do you race in real life with the Veyron?

of course it's more iconic. have you ever even seen the largest automotive TV show in the world? it's called top gear. it's test track is even in gt5. it stars Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Hamster Richard Hammond. They named the veyron the car of the decade, even over the ferrari enzo, but in your opinion it doesn't matter or deserve top 20% of the 1031 cars in gt5 status? do you have your own motoring show that is bigger than top gear and has various offshoots in different countries? NO

What is the point of a poll that takes the opinion of the voter out of the equation? I do not think it is an important car in the racing world. I think it is an important car for an insanely rich car collector with inferiority complex.

I think we could count on one or two hands how many times that car has ever, in the real world, been up over 200 miles per hour. And I don't care for drag racing.

I thought the discourse on this site would be of a slightly higher standard. My mistake.

well because by taking yourself out of the equation, you can compare it to the 230 premiums. and obviously if you really look at the list, there's no one opinionated enough to say that all 230 are more important to car history than the veyron. it's a shortcut but it should have worked. the long road is for people to realize their opinion does matter because they didn't make the game. developers usually take on what they think of what the world in general want to drive in their game. it's a group decision, and to make a group decision you have to take yourself out of the equation and put forth what you think the audience would want in this case. so that's why I said don't say "I don't like the veyron, it's ugly so I voted no", because that is completely irrelevant

hahaha I laughed when I read this comment. it's patriots vs colts next week right? should be good game. the patriots played rediculously good tonight. i actually thought they would lose too.

Sadly we are not going too see one of the most beautiful and luxurious interior of a car ever of Veyron. My goodness I saw the cockpit and interior of the car on a car magazine and at top gear and it is looks gorgeous. Guys I assure you it is jaw dropping. I still hope it will be a future dlc especially the newer version of Veyron.

Think twice now. You are saying Bugatti Veyron is more iconic than the Volkswagen Beetle?
Seriously, get a grip.

I've sat in one before and it's a damn shame this car won't have a cockpit view. I'm still struggling to understand PD's way of thinking by not having this car as premium but having some 60hp Suzuki piece of crap as premium.

Sighhhh

Older =/= more iconic, perhaps you're mixing it up with nostalgia. The Veyron is doing now what iconic cars of the 60s, 70s, 80s did back then, they're all roughly in the same league. Give it 10-20 years and people will still be looking back on it for it's achievements.

The real question is who cares how iconic it is? Common sense denote that the most popular cars appearing as premium models would please the fans, and like it or not there's no doubt that the Veryon is a very popular car.

I really think it had something to do with the PSP version. They already had a pretty good model of it that they didnt want to put to waste, but it wasn't quite up to premium levels and they would also have to do the interior, so they decided to just move on and leave it at that.

However i can always hope the actual reason was they plan to release add-on content soon which will feature the SS.

I'm pretty sure the Beetle is far more "iconic" than the Veyron. If you went out on the street and asked people "What is a VW Beetle" almost everyone will know what you're talking about. It a historically important car. I also think the combi van is more iconic than the Veyron.

Those cars are a part of history. The Veyron is just an expensive supercar that weighs as much as a tank and gives teenagers hard ons (exaggeration of course, but sort of true ;)). Phwoar, 10 radiators! :P
