It really had 10 radiators....lol

Sorry I meant the comment "The Veyron is just an expensive supercar that weighs as much as a tank gives teenagers hard ons." was an exaggeration, haha. I still find the 10 radiators thing funny... seriously... 10 radiators... that's not what I call good engineering. But lets not get into that. :P

Yes. If the fastest NA production car was deemed worthy of a Premium model, then surly the fastest -- if over-hyped -- turbo production car does as well. Sad that in-game, as in real life, the Veyron will never be as sexy as an F1.

A new car to the GT game series.

The fastest production car in history.

The most expensive production car in history.

Arguably a very interesting car EVERYONE is going to want to play with and own in GT at some point.

Duuhhh, lets make it standard model.

PD are retarded. They have probably given it the wrong sounds too, possibly a 6th and 7th gear that are the same ratio, and all the speeds are 5/8ths too slow... yep, that'll be PD at their best haha!

They are not all for engine coolant though.

Charge coolers, engine coolant coolers, hydraulic coolers, gearbox oil coolers.

Many are duplicated due to double banks for the charge cooling etc.

It's not bad engineering, it's just what is needed.

Write down the list of the minimum ones it should need, and then decide if having ONE big rad is better than two smaller ones wrt packaging.

I'm pretty sure the Beetle is far more "iconic" than the Veyron. If you went out on the street and asked people "What is a VW Beetle" almost everyone will know what you're talking about. It a historically important car. I also think the combi van is more iconic than the Veyron.

Those cars are a part of history. The Veyron is just an expensive supercar that weighs as much as a tank and gives teenagers hard ons (exaggeration of course, but sort of true ;)). Phwoar, 10 radiators! :P

Well yeah, the Beetle is more iconic than most of the cars in the list, that doesn't necessarily mean it's anyone's favourite. Either way if PD had set up a submission form asking the fans which car they wanted to see in premium, Veyron would have most likely been one of the most popular answers.

Agree. 👍

Let's not make the Veyron a premium model.

Disagree. 👎

Its pretty funny how people are trying to argue this like its something you need to weigh up.

Very quickly my thought process to this thread was:

Should the veyron be premium?

The car has been around for ages now, so no excuses to not have had time to model it. The SS is relatively newer, but aesthetically looks very similar so still no excuse not to have it included as premium.

GT is about automotive milestones, hence including the motor wagen etc.
The Veyron is by now a clear important automotive milestone and a modern classic. To not do it justice as a premium car is a huge oversight. General interest in the car among GT's potential audience is enormous. Get on it Sony/PD.

Whether the Veyron is premium or not may not hugely change sales of GT5, but in the long run omissions like this (along with so many other standard cars) will harm the brand PD built up so carefully.

The name of this thread is a massive rhetorical question to which the answer simply must be YES. No ****, sherlock.

I've sat in one before and it's a damn shame this car won't have a cockpit view. I'm still struggling to understand PD's way of thinking by not having this car as premium but having some 60hp Suzuki piece of crap as premium.

Sighhhh

Maybe Money, Pd wants money from them. I dont want to compare but seeing forza have the two most expensive car in the world, the Veyron and Lamborghini Reventon with cockpit view, really pisses me while they waste there time making those for Nazi lover Kubalwagen and that for hippie lover and weed addict trash beetle van as a premium.
Anyway I will still buy this game just because of the graphics and love for car collection and wait for gt6 for a more complete version possibly early 2012 for ps3. Gt5 is just a testing ground for Gt6.

Has anyone with the game confirmed whether the Veyron has a cockpit view or not??

Strikes me that it could be described as "standard" because it is not deformable through crash damage, etc... Is it possible that the visual model is to GT5P / GT5 standards rather than GT4 / PSP standards, but that there is just no damage model - therefore it is logged as a standard model?

To be honest, I don't find the Veyron special at all.
I mean it is an engineering masterpiece, but I'd much rather drive the LP670-4 SV as the Veyron just seems heartless and too cold for me.
I don't know if that sounds weird or not lol.

It doesnt sound weird. I understand what you mean. You want a car to have passion character and flare , like the LP670 and it should also have its good and bad sides.
The Veyron is more like a souless cold calculated killer
A lot of people think like you.
But exaclty what you dont like about the car is what I like and appreciate it for.

I feel like its as IF I gave the orders to design the car the way it is :D. Just a ruthless approach to a controlled form speed and power

I remember when the veyron was in early development, people were dissmissing it as a failure based on some supposed specs they had heard about the car. They didn't like its stray from the regular supercar layout.

Howevever I remember suporting it and saying I really dont like all this shrapnel and crumbs light weight consutrction all the supercars are made of these days. They simply hide behind low weight low centre of gravity to produce good results.

I want a super car car to have masive tyres massive stabilty massive accelration and AWD, whislt being comfortable, now that would be a good super car.

Others laughed it off saying theres no way they are going to pull it off with such an approach.

There was a lot of speculation and talk on forums that it would turn out to be one big fat floppy elephant that no one would like, and would achieve little after, simply because we found out it was going to be heavy and cumbersome and AWD with such a big engine.

BUt it turned out to be the fastest super car WHILST retaining all the good characteristics of a luxury car. 👍

I for one am glad the Veyron isn't premium, if only for the butthurt lol-fest that threads like this become.

So basically... you have issues with other people being happy, and require disappointment from other forum members to make you feel better about yourself?

 Clearly didn't read (or understand) my post...
I assume that was directed at me, and if so, you could not be more wrong. I read every part of your post, and most if it was just wishful thinking.

The car is STANDARD. As such, it DOES NOT have a cockpit view. As much as it might pain you, how hard is it for you to understand?

One thing that everyone seems to be overlooking is WHY the veyron is only a standard model. I'm fairly sure it's not because PD hates you personally and wants to see you weep... or that they don't understand the importance of that particular car.

Given that it takes PD somewhere between 3-6 months to model a premium car, perhaps Bugatti weren't forthcoming in lending them one for this period?

If so, rather than drop it alltogether, they choose to do the standard modelling instead. If they look through these forums, they might regret bothering at all.

That's basically what I appreciate about it.

On the subject of Bugatti's, I would love to see the EB110 in GT5 via DLC or in GT6.
Love that car.

I suspect the Veyron is standard simply because Buggatti do not want to see there car damaged in gt5

Guys, nfs shift damages the veron, forza damages the veyron. It is something to do with the psp. I'm sure of it.
Difference between those games and Gran Turismo is that GT is the "real" driving simulator so from Bugatti's point of view they could see damage compromising the sales of the Veyron.....just a thought.

Very much doubt it. Psp model I believe. Makes me laugh/sick :P because the psp version had blacked out cockpit view, not even the gt5 version will be that upgraded.

I believe that PD has to make tough choices and has constraints, resources (money, people, time, PS3) and licenses that call for tough choices.

The Veyron is an exceptional car, but there are plenty exceptional cars and maybe it is more in line with the Gran Turismo philosophy to have a broad range of cars premium then the top 20%.

PD doesn't keep the car for 3-6 months while modeling the car. They only really need a day or two to take pics of the car, laser scan & record the sounds*.

My goodness, where are PD going to keep all those cars if they physically hold them for that long!

*Correct me if I'm wrong.
