Bet nobody saw this coming!
Yep, that's right, I got an Xbox Series X!
Although I haven't said anything about it on GTP until now, I actually became interested in this console in late summer 2021, and have been trying to get one of them for almost as long. Had so much difficulty trying to get one of these, it wasn't until just last week I was finally able to get it and it arrived today. I will admit though, this one isn't new, it's refurbished, or at least that's what it said on Walmart.com. I'm all for buying things new, but given how hard getting a new one is, the price that was offered, and the accessories that came with this deal, I thought it was worth it. Fortunately theirs no evidence the box had been opened or the console was used, so who knows where the "refurbished" part came from? 🤷♂️
So given my username, I think the big question here is,
why did I choose this over the PS5? Well:
1. First and foremost, the dev mode is what
really made me want to get this console. Without saying too much, I learned back in September it was possible to run some emulators I knew and liked for nearly every console I own with dev mode. Having all the features of an emulator while having the immersive experience of a console was a huge part of why I loved the Playstation Classic and considering I can do this even better with emulators I know and trust on a console with plenty of power,
I am absolutely ecstatic!
Buying an Xbox to play more Playstation, ain't that heresy at it's finest!
2. Simply put, Forza Horizon 4. I'll be honest, I've wanted to get into Forza for years now, but what made me finally do it was several people in
one of my own threads mentioned they would stick to Forza Horizon 4 for a whole year if they could.
neema_t's
post is what
really caught my attention though because he actually did stick to the game for a whole year,
unintentionally. I figured given all that was said about it in my thread, it must be really good. So I felt now was a good time to finally give the series a chance!
3. The PS5 simply doesn't have anything to make me want to buy it right now and given what I said in #1, I am honestly skeptical it will have anything that will top that for me and I don't currently know any games I want for it that isn't already on the PS4. So I really can't justify buying one.
Haven't done much with it yet beyond setting it up since I am having difficulty recovering my old Microsoft account I created 8 years ago I barely used and I don't have any games for it yet. While it's going to be quite an adjustment since I've been hardwired for Playstation for the past 20 years, I can honestly say, I look forward to seeing what all I can do with this!
