Before my wife decided that she didn't like cutting our hair, she used a Wahl (I assume that's what you meant instead of Walh, unless that's a knock-off) which worked well enough to buzz the top at 3/4" and the sides and back at 1/4".
That’s the one.
I’m looking at them because they’re US/European made and are probably a more reliable product than what I can get locally.

I’ll be using them for my face and scalp and wondered if the unadapted blades out of the box (no length attachments) would trim at 0.5 or lower.
I need something for a skinhead and a clean looking face.

I've been using wahl clippers that I bought over 12 years ago. They've been working well, but I haven't used them without a guard.

I've had Wahl clippers in the past but recently bought a Remington HC4250. Best clippers I've ever had for speed and getting the correct length. I think it's 0.8 without the guards on.

I’m looking at some WHAL clippers to order tomorrow - does anyone have any experience on WHAL products?
I've had my Wahl clippers for near on 30 years. With light to medium usage they've only needed the blades replaced once, but they're due again now. As I despise shaving I use them without the guard on my cheeks and neck around my goatee and they're fine, and No.3 or 4 weather dependent on my head. You'll know when it's time for a blade change.
Edit: Actually these are my second set in that 30 year period. I forgot that I stuffed up a 5 year old set (??) when I dropped then in the bathroom sink full of water :embarrassed:

Edit 2: Just checked the new blade price and it's not worth changing them these days. It's about $40 AUD dollars to replace the blades or $49 AUD for a complete new kit. My old ones are probably better quality but for the price I'll get this kit.

I bought the wife a new 2022 Outback last weekend. I did have to buy an Autostop Eliminator to keep the auto engine off at red lights disabled for good.

How long does it sit still before the engine cuts out?
It's about 5 seconds, IIRC. When you depress the brake, the engine starts again and is ready by the time you press the accelerator.

I was skipping merrily through the Facebook marketplace when I found a car I sold years ago.

It's a VZ-R Pulsar (is anyone who knows me surprised? Probably not), but it's in white, which is neat cos many of the ones around these parts are black or silver.

Anyway this was a sale I hadn't wanted to make, so being a bit better off financially than I was then, I bought it again.

It's a bit rougher than when I last had it (bad enough to warrant the trailer) but I plan to restore it to its former glory!

Wood splitting axe, 3kg head

View attachment 1190379
I got tired of using one of these so about 5 years ago I bought a 5 ton electric Harbor Freight splitter picking up logs and stacking it is enough of a workout for me. I also have RA Arthritis which makes it hard to be able to swing an axe and keep a grip on it. It splits logs I couldn't split when I was able to swing an axe.

Who would've thought that pulling a 4,800lb trailer nearly 2,000 miles would be bad for shocks? And while I kind of appreciate the 1970s Detroit land yacht feeling, something tells me that's not safe, so these are the way since Summit Racing still had its sale going on. I managed to snag them for $150 for the pair too, a far cry better than the $500 the dealer was charging.

Upgrade time again.

I’ve been on the fence for 2 years about an upgrade to 4K for these films. On the face of it, it’s a no brainier but with all the DNR and edge enhancement I wasn’t sure.

However I’ve bitten the bullet. I’ll put my reviews up as soon as I can.

We also picked up a 4K copy of Oblivion too.

5x2.5 meters. 50 Eurodollaridoos. Picked it up 10 minutes from home. Removing it was a 5 minute job, placing it on my wall took 15 minutes. Needed a bit of cleaning but that was nothing.

I just picked up Mostly Harmless and World Without End from a second hand book shop.

I also acquired some “premium” 7 Eleven polarised shades.

I’ve had some Wahl clippers ( plug in, not cordless) for about 25 years now. Aside from replacing the blades a couple of times they’ve worked faultlessly. God knows how many cordless facial hair trimmers I’ve been through over that same period of time. The Wahl ones are not fancy but they’re just reliable.

So they’re trimmers (for short hair), as opposed to clippers (for any hair)? I’m keen on the brand and I will only by corded. I’m looking at a pair that will do my head and face fairly closely. I’ve always used clippers up until now because I assumed that trimmers had trouble with thick, grown hair.

No they are clippers, just like they’d use at a barbers. They come with different sized clip on guards for different hair lengths. I generally used them just on my head, but have started using them on my beard/stubble too. Even though the wide blades make them cumbersome for the face, being mains powered means there’s no loss in performance when cutting through tough, dense beard. Cordless trimmers can’t compare IMO.

That looks sweeeet. I would like one of those. Was the install difficult?
Nope. 15 minute job. Drill 4 holes, tap wall plugs in holes, 2 bolts in and you can hang the screen, and then another 2 bolts to finish the job.

Tried doing this earlier but Imgur was being a little 🤬, and if it's still being a little 🤬 and won't let me resize the images, bomb their electronic air space with eggs.

Stinky ones. Anyway...

Still touching up the PC to make it a bit more modern since, at least for the time being, I've decided against getting a new case. The HAF-X is still among the better ones, funny enough.

Cable extensions. It's going to be fun re-routing everything and tidying it up.

Kryonaut. Mostly to repaste and clean up the 2080, but I need new paste anyway so win-win.

A new case and motherboard arrived for me today:

I will finally have a machine worthy of the video card.

Another Friday, another volume of manga. Volume 3 of the Eternal Edition of Sailor Moon from Kodansha Comics. There are ten volumes plus the Sailor V series, so this is going to take a little time. I also bought a ticket to The Mads Tuesday livestream of Bride of the Monster, the Ed Wood classic.
