I've bought a new PC, the laptop I had wasn't cutting the mustard, (P4 Processor and 512 MB of RAM ) so I bought something that fit my needs (internet, word processing, very light games). $200 sure gets you a pretty good amount these days. I picked up an eMachines EL1200-01e.

It has an AMD Athlon 2650e, or the AMD equivalent to the Low-Power Celeron, 1 GB of RAM and a 160 GB Hard Drive. It's just what I needed really, nothing more, nothing less.

That doesn't mean I won't upgrade it though.

It's better than I thought it would be. Webpages load so much more quickly than I expected, and the touchscreen is more responsive and precise than lots of other devices I've tried. I'm really impressed, especially with the little nifty features like viewing pages landscape by tilting it sideways. I just don't like the fingerprints that you can't avoid...

£35 (From Play.com) and they have gone back to the Tin version which I missed first time around. The picture & sound quality is something to behold, it really is a five star buy from me.

I am on a 1mb line, but I have no limit. Good thing too, because 3GB is one Thursday night for me.

I have some friends who live in a rural area and their high-speed Internet is through satellite, but they have a weekly usage limit.
