Impressive. Give us some more shots with the LED's on will you? :)đź‘Ť

Haven't technically puchased, but Jotech has placed an order for me.

AEM Cold Air Intake. V2 won't fit my intended car, which is fine. Reviews are great, but not worth the money unless discounted. Should arrive before the end of the week, and we'll see what Jotech does afterwards.

PlayStation 3 Blu Wave Remote
41GNAmYnfsL._SS400_.jpg

The idea of getting this remote is to be able to 'teach' my Harmony 659 remote how to control the PS3 as well as using the USB IR dongle that comes with the remote. With my initial setup, it's OK and I can see with some tweaking it will be fine, but I need to properly program the buttons which it didn't work the first time around.

The drawback is that neither remote will provide a shutdown process or the Blue, Green, Yellow, Red buttons used with the Blu-Rays. Maybe someone will provide some custom coding for the Harmony/Logitech remotes so we can control our PS3's without using a PS3 controller when watching movies.

If Logitech released a PS3/Blutooth compatible remote that has the capabilities of their universal remotes, I will definitely be getting one. The idea of removing 6 controllers from my life sounds good to me.

The closest thing I've come across is my searching has been using the PS2 remote with the IR receiver (you might already have one sitting around somewhere) connected to the PS3 with a controller to USB converter. When setting up the Logitech Harmony, tell it that you are using a PS2 instead of a PS3. If I understand correctly, you can then use the up, down, menu, etc. (all the basic commands) from the LH remote.

Unfortunately, you're still going to have to turn the PS3 on and off with the controller or *ahh!* physically touching it. :P Shouldn't be that big a deal, really, as I'm sure that you'll have to eject whatever is already in the PS3 to put the movie in.

Edit: Again if I understand correctly, you can't navigate the XMB with the remote - you need to use the controller. Starting to sound worse and worse. :guilty:

Pako, and anyone else interested in full control of your PS3 with Harmony, Pronto, and most IR universal remotes:

First Full-Function Infrared Control for the Sony PS3

The IR4PS3 has been designed to work with as many standard universal remote controls as possible. By default it can accept codes from stock Sony DVD remotes, stock Sony DVD-R remotes, and stock Sony BD remotes. These three codesets integrate with standard Sony PS2 remote control codes to round out the feature set. Since some of the PS3’s new Blue-ray-related commands aren’t covered by standard Sony infrared functions, a little finagling had to occur – for instance on the “DVD” codeset the four Blu-ray color buttons have been mapped to the functions for “Disc1” through “Disc 4”. Regardless, the designer has tried to ensure that Logitech Harmony owners will be able to obtain full control over the 51 functions that the official Blu-ray remote offers using the Harmony database. And since the IR4PS3 can be user-configured via special command sequences to listen to all or only one of these codesets, if you already own a Sony DVD, DVD-R or standalone BD player you’ll be able to ensure that it doesn’t conflict with the IR4PS3.

For owners of Philips Pronto, Universal Remote Control Inc. and other computer programmable remotes capable of accepting infrared codes in Pronto hex format, I’ve personally created a configuration with every code to those three codesets. And, as a special bonus, there are also four additional self-contained custom codesets that don’t conflict with anything. So, theoretically, the IR4PS3 is capable of independent control of up to five PS3 consoles in a single room – all from one universal remote control.
The DIY kit came out last year, and there were some people who would do it for you if you mailed them your PS3 remote. I believe now you can just buy the modified remote.

Ideally though, the cost of Bluetooth will go down so that manufacturers of consumer electronics and universal remotes will be offering support for Bluetooth... then we can do away with having to have IR receivers & repeaters in our rooms and needing line of sight for them to work properly.

Because my premo runs out on the 19th of Dec. each year I kinda feel like it’s my Christmas gift to Jordon for running the best site on the net.

The fact I don't currently have a PS3 is irrelevant.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy Lifetime? I nearly have my Visa so I can get the damned thing again!

It would but I'm one of those would rather help out the site by paying the annual fee every year if it helps keep this place running better.

Kudos to you then, I'm too tight for that/Am a student.

Roo, you will enjoy reading the manuals. Got bottom two, both are very good.

It was at 20% a few days ago. I thought about waiting a little longer but I'm a pansy who doesn't like taking risks.

Nope.

I'll get one in the new year, probably. That or by the time I get round to buying one all four games will be Platinum for about ÂŁ15. Which'll render this a complete waste of money. Curse you impulse buys!

OK, I am doing some final Christmas shopping and need advice for my next purchase.

My wife asked for a steam cleaner for Christmas. Bissell ProHeat 2X, check.

Now, what does she really get? She also asked for leather gloves. Check. Not much there. I will not rest on gloves and an appliance for my wife at Christmas.

So, I have been doing some looking around at these last minute sales.

$99.99 1ct tw diamond heart yellow gold pendant (normally $499). She prefers white gold, so I am iffy on this.

Or

Spa gift certificate for massage, facial, pedicure & manicure. I know nothing about spas and she has never been to one, that I know of. So, this is something different. $115 (normally $157)

Now, what I know she would really like is that Jane Seymour open heart pendant, but so would every woman apparently. The only ones in stock for 100 miles have $500 in diamonds attached to them. That is why I was looking at similar jewelry.

Anyway, as I am already getting her a $200 steam cleaner I would like to keep this in the same price range as the others.

If she prefers white gold do not buy her yellow gold. I work in a jewellery and you'd be surprised how many husbands come in and buy something in a certain metal only to have their wives come back soon after xmas to exchange them for something they want. $99.99 for 1ct TW diamond anything isn't a bad deal though.

I would probably go with the spa gift certificate, I haven't met a single women who doesn't enjoy going to the spa. I get my mom a $200 gift certificate every year for her birthday to a local spa and she loves it. I've gotten Kate gift certificates in the past as well and I know she rather enjoyed it.

If you are going to get jewellery I can tell you the in thing right now is chocolate pearls, I think they are hideous as do most men but based on what women are buying from our store they seem to like them. Also be aware the price of gold is very low right now as is platinum so if a jeweller tries to pull the crap that the price of gold is high so that's why the jewellery is expensive just leave. Actually since platinum is almost the same price as gold you can probably find a good deal on something made in it.

Thanks. I am leaning toward the spa treatment, and the place I am looking at is about a half mile from where she works and has nothing but five star customer reviews on various different sites.

And with the pendant, between it being yellow gold and the huge discount I am thinking that it will either be very poor diamonds or an item that has had mounting issues.

Plus, her birthday is in March and between now and then I could budget in a couple of jewelry items that she wants. She also wants this initial engraved ring, but the place has to ship it off and as of 10 days ago couldn't guarantee it in time.

Thanks for the pointers from a jeweler-ish perspective.

I ordered this recently. I'm just waiting on the leather strop to keep the blade sharp before I can start shaving with it.

Entirely carbon/stainless steel - including the scale. It's heavy, a bit out of balance, and sharp enough to slice through a hair with zero added pressure. I can't wait to use this thing :D

There's a reason women flat out tell guys what they want - they know we don't pick up on subtle hints. Well, most guys don't. :P

As for the Open Hearts by Jane Seymour collection, my wife thinks they look like boobs and butts. Get that in her head and see if she's still interested in it! If she is, I don't even see that the diamond necklace is even available on their site, which I find strange as the link to get into the necklace page is the diamond version. Besides, the diamondless version that is on their site is actually silver, not white gold - not sure how big a deal that is to her, though. The only reason I bring that up is because my wife is allergic to white gold and silver and recently had to have her yellow gold earrings reposted with platinum. Ouch.

I guess in short, as the necklace in question isn't available, at least not in the desired form, go for something completely different - Spa it is!

I forgot to post this that came on the 5th of this month.

It would help if my wife said. I had to weasel the steam cleaner out of her. I, on the other hand sent out a list with four games, four Blu-Rays, and four miscellaneous items to my entire immediate family.

Odd, this morning they only showed the diamond necklace. Their cheapest item was $399. Now that is gone and I see what you see. That $85 engraved pendant looks good. And she likes silver just as equally as white gold. Oddly, she is picky about platinum. She thinks that it seems duller than gold unless it is well polished.

Well, at the risk of running too late to get anything else tonight I may have to check out the......oh God.....mall for that first.

A pair of Antlers (and a red nose) for my car! Found them in Big W for a bit under $17. They've made a few people laugh :).
