Been doing quite a bit of landscaping. Here are a few items and some not shown.

  • Random gutter pieces.
  • Bag of potting soil.
  • 2 bags of black plastic.
  • 2 "yards" of rocks delivered. (1 yard of sandstone 1 yard of field stone) rocks can be so expensive especially the sandstone.
  • 4 hostas.
  • 2 Hybiscus. (only 1 pictured)
  • 1 Lilly.
  • Plastic landscaping edging.
  • 30 red 8"x16"x2" bricks. (not pictured but took 2 trips in the trunk of my WRX)

I'm showing off with a lot of pleasure my new SSD Samsung 850 EVO M.2 500GB.

I may get a M.2 SSD, thinking of the Samsung SM951 which is seriously fast. Bought an i7 4790 recently so my PC processor is at least faster than my brother's laptop.

New backpack for bike riding. Been using this old Nike bag which is terrible for biking and way too big.

So I went with the Osprey Viper 5. Has good reviews so hopefully it'll be a nice upgrade.

After cleaning my bedroom and bathroom, I decided to replace the 15 1/2 year old bulbs in my bathroom. I wanted something a little softer and whiter. Still have a dome light to the left to replace but can't get the cover undone.

edit-this reminds me I need to clean that trim piece.

This is why days off can be dangerous. Not pictured: a nice golf shirt for my dad for Father's Day, and the accompanying card.

And, uh, this:

The lady promised herself a new dress on account of getting a promotion last month. She tried this on and a red one, and couldn't decide which she preferred. So, I removed the struggle of decision for her. I figure with my birthday at the end of the month, I can pull this off. :P

Canon 100D

Thought it was about time i got into photography again and this looked like a decent starting point.

I'd had a Pentax SLR during college and uni, followed by a Canon EOS 600 (film) - that i had up until one of the SeaWorld Orcas decided it required a sea water washing which eventually led to part of the shutter mech rusting up.

I still have the lens from the previous EOS, which is something like a 35-80mm which gives me a few more options to the standard 18-55 kit lens it came with. I mostly bought it to help with my painting, which is something else i picked back up a couple of years ago after not picking up a brush since college. Since i mainly do land and sea-scapes i've also invested in some lens filters (UV, 'warming' and the necessary polarizer filter) along with a lens hood.

Aside from a new tripod - my previous one was cannibalised to make a decent in-car camera-mount for the now defunct Cortina - i'll be looking into a reasonable 50mm lens with a nice low f-stop as my next camera-related purchase.

That had been my initial thought, but reading the reviews had led me to believe that the connector, being plastic, could be quite brittle - leading to plenty of instances of the lens getting stuck to the body, so I may end up looking a little higher up market than that (although that one is indecently cheap) But then you've got to weigh up the benefits of higher end lenses with lower end bodies, I guess.

My step brother has a 5D with plenty of mostly L-Series lenses. I might have a go with some of them to see just what difference they can make to a lower end body before I splash out (not red-band level splashing out)
