Gets probably more risky at that size, isn't as fast and more of an outlay.
Also lining up a big purchase: an iMac. No need to tell me how it's a bad choice, and a PC makes more sense, blah blah blah - the Apple choice just makes more sense for work and home. What is the issue, though, is I'm unsure if I should stick with the regular resolution 21.5" model ($1800, 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, 8GB memory, 1TB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 1GB video memory), or wait a bit longer and go for the 27" Retina 5K ($2400, 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, 8GB memory, 1TB hard drive, AMD Radeon R9 M290 with 2GB video memory). It's a fair chunk more money, but that resolution...
I would personally wait a bit longer and get one of the new models that should hopefully come out later this year. 4K 21.5" model seems to be in the pipeline.

I recently bought a 21.5 iMac. Kind of wish i'd gone for the bigger 5K screen version, but couldn't justify the price hike for the use it gets at home. Went with the Iris Pro Graphics version too, but spec'd with a better drive, and 16gig of RAM.

When i looked into it, for the sort of stuff i use it for - Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator etc - the onboard graphics chip model performed better than the NVIDIA version. If you're doing 3D rendering or lots of hi-def video editing - or playing games, the NVIDIA chipped one will perform better. Depends what you want it for. 👍

Save up for the Retina version. Having a high DPI screen helps me judge what my print work will look like better. The only downside is that it's hard to judge how stuff like sharpening will look like on regular DPI screens. Also opt for a SSD over the standard spinning disk, much faster. I do my current work on a SSD then move it over to a HDD once the project is done.

I picked up DR3 at Gamestop yesterday for $20.00. I had $15.00 in reward points so after that I only paid $5.00 for DR3.

Then when I got home that night I realized it was the last day of the X1 sale. So I picked downloaded Saints Row 4 along with Gat out of Hell digital copies for $19.00. (60% off)

A 21.5" 4K would actually be perfect, since I feel a 27" is too big for our current digs. Thanks, here's hoping that comes.

I'd be using it more for what you use it for than the rendering or video editing, but those are both things I'm going to be looking into more seriously come September. As for gaming... meh, I've got the One, soon to have a PS4, so other than wanting to do something like play old Roller Coaster Tycoon or the occasional Steam download, I'm not too fussed.

I'll definitely be splurging on the SSD whenever I do take the plunge. I'll also likely be getting Sam's dad to buy it, since as a teacher, he can get the discount. :P

GI Joe #214. Death of Snake Eyes virgin variant. It's been far too long since I've seen a virgin variant.

Left home after tonight's dinner for a coffee and came back with this:

Black Ops III pre-order for 5 euros (beta access, and with 15% off the retail price when the game comes out)

Witcher 3 for 20 euros less than standard price, and with a bunch of bonus stuff and whatnot (some of it not listed in the box)

Love the iMac. It's a great machine. 👍

You should wait and get the Retina screen. My MBP is a Retina version, and of course my iPhones have the high DPI screen as well. It seems like a big chunk of money more, but the high DPI screen is so nice and so worth it The only downside is that regular DPI screens are now difficult to use because they suck so badly in comparison.

My Onkyo 805 receiver took a dump on me, so I had to buy something quick so I can watch TV again. Went very, very simple, this time.

Onkyo 805 that was just too problematic for me to enjoy. Glad it's gone, TBH.

Was hyped to buy stuff of the "Amazon Prime Day", but bought nothing.
Yeah no kidding. I was fairly excited for today and didn't buy anything from Walmart or Amazon. Did not see a single thing I wanted. Pretty sure they trolled us.

So with that said I bought Zuma off the xboxlive marketplace because it is another one of the backward compatible games for the X1 from the 360. $4.99. In fact I have purchased quite a few games off the live marketplace over the last week. A lot of great deals from Microsoft lately.

A Gitzo 1542T:

Need to buy a head for it, which will probably be an Arca-Swiss P0. Just gotta decide on which version.

Also I bought a Fitbit Charge HR for all the hiking I'll be doing with the new tripod and my Pentax 67 slung on my shoulder. :D

ugh... I need one of these sooo bad... My $15 ambico ain't doing the trick.

But yeah, the head part is a bit confusing. They all do the same thing, yet they don't.

Just a ice hockey helmet and gloves. I got a jersey and shoulder pads as well but they aren't as interesting:lol: Had to go with the pink gloves as they were available and the only female gloves they had:)

@TB Erm no? What's wrong? They're just gloves I swear!:ill:

-edit: please proceed to ignore me. There was a joke (I really hope it was a joke at least) in @TB s post that went about 17 miles over my head:lol:

So there's a water dispenser in my house now:

Not the proper model or brand of water (Poland Spring; with two additional 5 Gal. jugs) but I'm not poking and prodding at 1 in the morning.

I also have a Sony STR-DH-something 7.1 amp, it's simple and does the job great. I don't get some of the negativty towards amps from mainstream electronics manufacturers, you get lots of fanboyness for Onkyo.

I've heard good stuff about Onkyo as well. I've only ever wound up with Pioneer Elite stuff though. Seems to be the most prevalent in my area on the use market.

I have mine for over 7 years, and still plenty happt with it. Awesome quality and totally reliable. I was advised by @Scaff at the time, he was a great help in getting my system together. 👍

Here's the old post where I was showing the pics right after I installed the system in my living room (Meanwhile, ImageCrap deleted all my pics...)

The cheap tripods aren't too bad in a pinch, I used a similar one to the one you mentioned for this shot:

I have a Manfrotto 190XB + 804RC2 head but it's way too big and heavy for travelling and 3 way heads are such a hassle to adjust and travel with, which meant I usually left it behind unless I was doing product shoots.

As for heads, yeah it's a minefield. You have the Arca Swiss brand, and then Arca style plates/clamps/heads from other manufacturers which aren't standardised so you can't add a RRS Arca plate to an actual Arca Swiss head without some adjustment. And then each manufacturer has their own set of accessories/handling quirks.

Anyway I finally settled on an Arca Swiss P0 monoball with a flip lock. Came with a nice free bag to protect it during transport and 10% off.

Fuu I miss ours so much.

You're welcome to some of mine; it'll only last me the rest of my life anyway.

Is water poisoning a thing? If it is, I'm going to get it.

EDIT: It is a thing. Well then...

Went to gamestop today and bought a new PS3 game for the first time after getting my PS3 back and what I just bought today could possibly be in my opinion the rarest PS3 game I've ever found, aka Armored Core 5. I already knewed about this game's existence since I've played Armored Core 2 and 4 before and I was also looking forward to getting V around the time it got released but I could never find a copy of this game. Up until today when I was at GameStop, I stumbled upon a familiar game on the top shelf next to the cashier and that was Armored Core V! :D

I know I was late on this one but hey I've never seen this game in stores before.

Also bought some new add ons for Project Cars and Mortal Kombat X. :)
