New setup is now.... Set up.

G923 wheel, GT Omega Apex stand, and my standard office chair. Upgraded from the T150 and a wheelstand pro. And a desk fan for that "wind in your hair" sensation 😂😂

What I will say, is that the "wheel rail" on the apex stand is absolutely genius and the main reason I haven't really used my old wheel in a heck of a long time, because my chair or wheelstand just kept moving under any sort of pressure.

And the brake pedal with the G923 is a HUGE upgrade on the old T150 one. Very very pleased.

Also being able to properly mount the pedals is wonderful as well. I've been living in the stone age!!!

Took a break for a while from gaming. Sold off all of my stuff at the time. Started to miss it, so had a plan to go all out and get a nice cockpit with direct drive wheel, etc. In the end I cheaped out (rather spend that money on other things) so grabbed a G923 on sale for $300, a random China cockpit from Amazon for $300, and the monitor stand to go with it. Found a LG C2 OLED 120Hz 42" TV local for $550 used.

The cockpit is pretty nice, I like the seating position and it's pretty sturdy. But the seat is rock hard and the shoulder bolsters are annoying. Digging the Logitech G923 though with the added vibration and improved brake pedal. Feedback is lackluster in GT7 though, but I blame PD for that.

Shoulder bolsters for sim racing seats needs to END. It's so nonsensical. Sim Racing ergonomics need proper good sim racing seats for sim usage, not pretend IRL seats that are not fit for the purpose. Plus more seats need mounts on the back for speakers, helmet holders, and subwoofers and/or butt kickers.

Still rocking a Playseat Evolution that I bought 12 years ago back in the PS3 GT5 days. I recently upgraded from a G29 to a GT DD Pro so I also upgraded to a NLR Wheel Stand 2.0 that luckily bolts onto the Playseat Evolution frame. I wanted to get the NLR GT seat add on but I read that the recliner on those is weak so I guess I am staying with the Playseat for now. I also like that it doesn’t obstruct the TV or projector screen when it’s folded down and the wheel removed so I don’t even have to move it to the side when it’s time to watch a movie with the wifey

Off topic question maybe, but do you guys ever feel self concious about having a sim racing rig like this at home? Or do you ever get negative reactions?

Idk if "self concious" is necessarily the right word, but it would be so awkward and annoying for me to explain this hobby everytime someone enters my home. Some people think it is weird in general to play videogames at my age, let alone having a setup like this. When I have coworkers over and I have to be like: "yeah, guys, this is my 3k sim racing setup that I spend at least 7 hours a week on trying to get gold medals on Gran Turismo time trials, which earns me 2 million in game credits, which, once I have accumulated 12 million credits, allows me to buy a 1966 Jaguar XJ13 that I have no practical use for" they would probably think that I lost my mind and I would never hear the end of it. You guys don't have this problem?

(Video)games are entertainment and art (some games more or less than others ) like theater, musicals, operas, concerts, movies/series, reading books etc.
Why would entertainment as a hobby be weird?

People that see my wheelstand or sim rig are curious and ask about it; kids try it out, turn the wheel, press the pedals (ha! try pressing the 120KG loadcell brake!) and play/pretend they are driving.

My wife would argue that me having a play room is better than being in the pub 🙈. I have 2 simple set ups now, a PC corner for iRacing and ETS 2 and 1 for PS5 and I couldn't be happier. We are lucky that when our house was recently restored (it's an old post office) we both got our own room to do what we wanted with. I'm 44 and some people do think it's a bit childish but then you let them have a go and they love it 👍👍

There is still no GT support for it's enhanced FFB settings and I find my 8NM GT DD Pro to be great with a Clubsport RS 330mm rim.

I asked a similar question a while back and the feedback was that if you don't have PSVR2 and are looking to spend money, buy that over upgrading to a DD Extreme. They were right.

Now the caveats, if you have no wheel at all, and are on controller then I would get the extreme over the GT DD Pro at this point. If you have a decent DD wheel already it is not worth the upgrade imo. You also need a decent rig to get the benefit from it.

Thanks @TheNormsk! I am running this setup including DD Pro & PSVR2 (ocassionally) just south of you . I am just not happy with the FFB strenght on some (many) cars since the update from a few months back. I max out on many cars (100% on both base and game) just to get something...

I’ve got my rig tucked next to my desk in our upstairs office/media room. I’m in my 40s and nobody has given me any crap about it. We just had people over for Thanksgiving (live in USA) and folks who knew I had a rig were dying to try it out. Nearly everyone had a go and had fun. When I met my partner a few years ago she thought it was really cool and would sometimes just sit in it to relax and read. When we moved to our new place I was worried I’d have to sell it due to tighter room layouts but she was adamant about making room for it.

Really the only negative is it’s a challenge from a decorative standpoint. It’s tough to integrate in most decors so it really needs a designated spot of its own.
