My eyes are 23”(I think) away from a 42” screen, it’s still not close enough to match GT’s FoV though.

What happened to the mirror? For sneak attacks from behind.

I stuck a small mirror on my TV after seeing yours. It has been working great. 👍

So in other words I need an 85" TV 18" away from my eyeballs??:lol::lol:
The thing with needing such a big screen to get FOV correct is that you cannot get it low enough so you end up looking up instead of forward to drive, I kinda have that problem with my 65", I dont know if I would be able to lower it if it were mounted to my rig.

Yeah its kind of silly, GTS should have just made FoV adjustable, would solve all the problems. My TV is literally touching the back of my wheel, or I’d have it closer. Height wise I really like the position though(for bumper/cockpit cam), it was slightly lower but I built it up about 1.5" because the top of my wheel would block the radar.

This is mine, I would like to add a TV mount and probably a mount for the PS4 also so the whole set up is integrated into one unit. Think a Buttkicker would interfere with the PS4 if they were all on the same frame? I suppose I could rubber mount the PS4, it wouldnt be that big of a deal.

Sweet rig man!! I think it was @Pearl Jam that posted somewhere over the past couple of pages a sweet monitor stand that would go right over you’re rig without interfering. I’ll try to find the post. It’s probably best to have the PS4 on its own stand just to the side, that way and vibrations from the wheel or you moving it around, so it doesn’t skip the disc. Or is that even still a thing anymore?

Yeah personally I wouldn't mount the PS4 on a rig where a buttkicker is attached. Also it seems like a pretty solid rig so you'll need to be careful to get your buttkicker acting with the most direct force into the seat, maybe Flexi mounts needed between seat and frame

Gave it all up for more time with my family. Went back to the couch with my controller. My set up started from GT5 prologue until GT Sport. Sadly missed but time with family is way more important. Race rigs becomes a life away all around you.

Amen!

Thank you!! I would just custom fabricate a TV mount, that should be easier than building the rig was. :) Besides I'm kinda OCD about certain things, that's why I built my own rig in the first place, it was important to me that I had no flex in the wheel/pedals, I cant think of anything that would get under my skin more than stuff moving around that shouldn't.

Are you saying that the rig might be too solid for a Buttlicker to work effectively? Where do they normally get mounted?? I suppose the worst case scenario is temporarily trying a couple different spots with the Buttkicker to find the most effective spot. Is the intensity of them adjustable?? I know absolutely nothing about Buttkickers other than they are supposed to offer a little more immersion.

What now?

OLED 55" C8 with PS4 Pro
Using KontrolFreak sticks on the controller.
I feel like they helped me improve my lap time, but could be just placebo.
Definitely made the controller feel a little bit more ergonomic.

The left stick popped off mid corner during a FIA race once,
it helped to simulate realistic mechanical failure during a race.

My setup, Playseat, t300rs, g29 pedals and 32” curved monitor.
Dreaming to update to fanatec

If you do update to Fanatec I hope you have better luck than me. I bought a CSL and V3 load cell pedals in Feb of 18, in June of 19 the wheel had to go in for repair under warranty, it completely stopped working after a loud electrical arcing noise. Thet fixed it but it came back with different problems, it will up and down shift randomly by itself, it might happen once in a 20 lap race or 5 times in a 20 lap race but it always happens. My high beams also self toggle as well as my menu screen popping up at will. I was in touch immediately with Fanatec, they had me try some things, I sent them video of it happening and even sent the wheel back in just for these problems. They sent it back saying there is nothing wrong:banghead::banghead::banghead:

+1 for the ds4 massive

i got those things got my controller a few weeks ago and they are extended higher for my thumbs and the little grooves keep my thumb from sliding

One complaint is makes my wrist hurt no matter how much I change the settings

Thanks for the heads up! Will definetly wait until the ps5 is released, before any updates on the wheel setup. 👍

I keep seeing all these custom built wooden rigs and I kick myself for buying ready made instead. Got a Playseat Evolution as a size upgrade (still not long enough and the seat is too upright with too little padding) over the fidget proof Challenge when I could have built one out of a nice hardwood with a seat that's luxurious enough to sleep on for the same money.:dunce:

I've got plenty of assorted planed wood on the back garden to make a chunky frame so all I'll need is a car seat for a bespoke seating position. Maybe chuck it on some castors too...

It won't be pretty but I'll be able to get a lot more driving done with way less recovery time.

Just gotta ask the missus for seat money... If you never hear from me again, she said NO!

I wouldn't bother with castors unless you intend to keep moving it, you'll have more trouble keeping the seat still unless you can tie it to your pedals.

I made a simple frame with some wooden offcuts and bolted an mx5 (miata / eunos) seat on top. Very comfy and cheap. I kept it on the original seat frame rails so it could slide forwards and back. I then attached a wheel stand pro to the frame to keep it all together , but a wheel and pedal frame should be easy enough to build too
