Recently cleared our junk room out and have an ongoing mancave project.
Picked up a Playseat Evolution Alcantara for £75 for my T300 RS GT.
The helmets have been picked up for between £10 and £15 and I've done the paint jobs and decals myself.

My current setup is this
250px-LightningVolt_Wood_Floor.jpg

I play with DS4 while standing, better for my back.

I used to play on this
iHcd.jpg

However it's in the basement, it's cold in winter, and since I do a lot between races, not very practical for GTS.
Plus 4K HDR beats 1080p projection.

So nowadays I play on this
jHcd.jpg

Alternating between the 2 screens depending on who wants to watch tv. The only change since then is the right speaker is now on the outside and the old tv moved in to the left. One problem, my kids playing Fortnite together or Terraria which for some stupid reason doesn't work in split screen when played online with their friends. Guess I need a 3rd ps4!

That's a lot of standing for the amount of races you run, your back must be feeling great!!!!!:lol::lol:

There are some really cool set ups in here, great stuff fellas! This is my current setup, I built the rig myself out of 3/4” MDF, got the seat out of an old Honda Civic and had the tv in my storage room so the build was relatively inexpensive. I’ve been eyeing new wheels lately though, either a G29 or T150, both have been on sale lately and either would be an upgrade on my DFGT. Hopefully soon. :)

Nice and economical. Leaves you with enough fo another golf set. BTW, are you getting much golf in the great white north lately?

Thanks, it was a fun build and much more fun to play now. Naw no golf here since September though, I typically played simulator golf over the winter but this year it’s been all Sim racing instead, I haven’t hit a golf ball since September lol. My clubs are very jealous of all the attention the rig is getting haha. :)

Hey! I see you have my current wheel stand to the right of your rig. I'm getting tired of having the tv tray jumping around every time I make a quick move on the wheel, so after this thread, and seeing all the nice setups, I broke down and ordered a Playseat Challenge. I fully expect that, even if it doesn't help my speed, it will help my consistency.

Awesome stuff man, congrats. It definitely will help, a consistent set up will breed consistency on the track. :)

Might I ask why you have 4 sets of clubs? Are they course defendant or something???:dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:

You are correct Sir, one set is for wet, soft, spring and early summer conditions and the other is for drier, harder mid to late summer conditions, the rest are just spare parts and clubs I picked up/built just to try out that didn’t make the bag, the third set are my Sons clubs. I build and refinish my own clubs, that’s why are there are club heads everywhere and a bag of shafts that’s not in that picture lol, it’s cheaper to buy demo/used parts and build them myself than buying whole new clubs, especially when you’re a lefty who swings a driver at 120+MPH. :)

Where is the best place to host photos to post now? I found this thread and want to show the rig I built a few weeks ago!!!

I upload them directly to the website, it seems to work pretty well. I’ve never tried the hosting thing before so I’m not sure how it works, I’ve seen Imgur in other people’s photos before though, maybe that’s a good one? :)

Well, my playseat challenge came today. It's set up, but going to need some mods. I have to get some angle on the pedals, and I just changed the wheel plate to move it away as much as possible. Will have to get used to being lower compared to the tv. It will definitely be easier to use once the tree is gone!

As someone that’s spent lots on wheels in the past my advice is stick with the DFGT
I’ve had a DFGT an G27, G29 and T500.
Don’t waste your money. The DFGT is perfectly good even with PC sims and outlasted all of the above.

I've been working on getting my seat set up. I like the design, but the distance to the wheel is too short for me. Those who have one know that you can get more space by "reclining"the seating position, but that also brings the wheel down towards your knees...and the pedals need more angle. I think I'm just about there. Seat is as low as I can without my knees being a problem, and the wheel distance is okay after moving the plate back all the way. Here's my fix for the pedals. They're bolted to my wedge, which is strapped with the strap they supply.

Thank you so much!!! I didn't know you could upload them directly to the site!!!

Here's my rig I built a few weeks ago. I took and old Bride Brix that I had recovered with a modified Bride seat rail so the seating position is adjustable. I just started laying things out and built it through trial and error haha. I've got the G29 with GTEYE springs and 3Drap short shifter. Also have a Thrustmaster BT LED Display display I picked up off ebay for $90. I love it and it really adds to the experience, I highly recommend it!!!!! I've made a few changes since this picture was taken and play to shorten it a little bit and stain or paint it to make it look a little nicer but I absolutely love it!!!! It feels sooo much different than on a desk.

distance to the wheel is too short for me.

You have to compromise on something.

I believe the ideal distance is straightening your arms and your wrists rest on the top of your wheel. A huge difference to how I drive my real car but there's method in the madness. Your arms won't get tired as quick. Feels weird at first but you arguably have more control compared to almost straight arms.

Real life race cars are set up with the wheel in your face. The wheel is close to you so that the bend at your elbow is 90 degrees and the wheel is up pretty high, that gives you the most leverage with the smallest amount of effort. If you have to reach for the wheel your arms tire quickly and your movements are not as precise. My son learned this many years ago when he was 13. He raced karts and we had a 2 hour oval endurance race, racing karts pull a lot G's in corners and this was an oval chassis we had never ran before. I was trying to get his seating position perfect and he would hop in the kart with 1 leg hanging over the side and would declare that was fine, I kept trying to tell him how important it was to get comfortable and close to the wheel but he would have none of it. I also told him we should put a velcro strap on his left shoulder and helmet to keep his head attached but he said he would be fine. 1 hour into the race he pulls in to the pits, shuts off his kart and just sits there, I ask what's wrong, he says he cant lift his arms. So much for his "that's fine" seating position. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

That’s how I set my rig up, with my arms straight out my wrists are just over the wheel and when holding the rim my elbows are about 90* bent with the center of the wheel around mid chest/heart height. I sit in an upright position(seat recline is all the way forward/upright) as well instead of leaned back so my neck/shoulders doesn’t get sore. The pedals I found trickier to find the ideal position for, I started with them a little closer but found my legs got tired quick from being bent too much so I pushed them back to have my legs in a more stretched out and relaxed position that allows me to use my ankles/toes to push the pedals instead of the bigger leg muscles, it seems to give me a bit lighter touch on the pedals as well this way. It took some research and tinkering to find the ideal position, but well worth the effort though. :)

The pedals are still my biggest problem. I'm 6' 7" so I have to have the pedals pushed out a long way but the angle is obtuse and uncomfortable with the pedals flat. The seat impedes blood flow if you have the pedals a long way from you too. I've alleviated it a little by sitting the back of the pedals over the seat's bar (where the gripper bar folds away on the G29) and strapping it there but it still needs more height. Thought about making a wedge but that's a last resort as it all needs packing away after each session so I'm thinking of fastening some wood to the bar where I have the pedals now. Six inches of height should give me about fifteen degrees of tilt and still be easy to pack away.

@Rexracer702, you can adjust the wheel mounting plate on the arm to 1 of 3 different positions. That might help your wheel distance issue.
Yeah, I'm already out as far as it goes. They should make an optional arm for long armed people like me. 3" would probably do it. I have the seat layed out more than I would like, but I can't have my elbows digging into my gut every time I hit a hairpin. All in all, it's working after some playing, and it's way better than the TV tray and dining room chair.

More than 12 years as ago GT became for me more than just a normal game. :)
I started in my first online racing league and bought my first wheel.
Since then i´ve gone from Driving Force Pro sticked to a ironing board, over a Fanatec GT3 RS and Fanatec CSL-Elite clamped to a table.
When i moved to a new home i had the opportunity to get a racing seat for the first time as there wasn't enough space for one before.
With my own small gaming room it was the time to fulfill my little GT-Nerdy dreams and here is the result: :D

I had my pedals laying flat on the floor of my rig at first as well but I also found it awkward and my back actually started to get sore after long periods of playing so I ended up tilting them up with a piece a plywood. I couldn’t believe what a difference it made, I no longer felt I was over stretching to max out the pedals and my back wasn’t getting sore any more, I’d definitely recommend trying some sort of a wedge or something to tilt them up. :)

Sweet setup, but is the TV on a stand or wall mount??
