Gangstah!

Here's a few pics from the other seasonal.

Took the first two, and then remembered Cerebus's work with the miniature filter, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was actually pretty pleased with how these turned out, considering it was the first time I really attempted anything with that filter. I found that to get a good image, I really had to play around with the exposure value, and also with the positioning of the subject in the screen. Because the filter makes the edges really blurry, you really have to center the subject (unless you want part of it blurred). I really like the colours it offers though. Going to have to play with it some more. Let me know what you guys think.

The colour combination on this one is fantastic! As is the angle on both car and camera.

BkS
The miniture filter should only be used for tilt-shift photography. :/

And here's the comment I've been waiting for. I do understand what you mean though. But I think if you do it right, you can make it look good.

In the end I think it all comes down to what the artist tries to achieve. And the fact that it's just a video game.

Beautiful and lovely shot, fellow Swede!

Thank you! :)

Thanks man :D. That's my attempt at a Team Burst 180SX. I remember takin that shot, I was playing around with that front wheel, and ended up getting a pretty cool shot. If you look closely, there's a florescent glow coming off the lip of the rim, thought it was kinda cool.

And @Bks. I don't know too much about photography, so don't know what you mean by "tilt-shift". I don't think I'll use this filter very much (although after posting those pics, I started working on another photo shoot where I'm going to use it exclusively lol), but like Cerebus said, I think it works sometimes. It gives a very stark contrast between colours, which I think can create some interesting images. Personally, I don't always try to make my images "realistic", opting instead to go for an "artsy" look.

Anyways, hopefully I can finish that other photo shoot tonight or tomorrow and get it up here. So far, the results are quite interesting, hopefully you guys'll enjoy it.

Hmm well both are great pics, but I still don't understand the term tilt-shift. What's tilted? What's shifted? Is the tilt shifted, or the shift tilted lol?

It's a camera/editing effect that replicates what 'macro' (close) photography looks like, in terms of 'depth of field'.

BASICALLY, big stuff looks small

@Godfrey, thanks man, I get it now. That's a really cool vid (love that song too...reminds me of "That's It, That's All"). Then I have to disagree with Bks when he says miniature should be used ONLY for tilt-shift. The depth of field effect it has (makes edges of photo blurry) works well with panning mode 3 I find, and like I said, can create some interesting effects. I'm working on shooting a couple of cars right now, set in a particular setting, where I think the blur really adds to the photo...we'll see how everything turns out.

@ Eddy, very nice shots. Love the colour combo, and that's some really nice use of the colours of Kart Space, well done 👍 !!!

@ Taz, noooiiiiiccceeee!!!

The BEAST run by none other than SixSpeedSidewayz. I had to do a special insert of this set because after watching the replay, this had to be documented. Great run! More coming soon.

The effect in GT5 is simulated reverse tilt. Forget the shift bit - lenses that can do tilt can also usually do shift but it's seperate movements that have different uses. It's usually possible to use both tilt and shift at the same time but to get the "toy town" effect you would use the tilt control to get the plane of focus going through the subject at an angle.

A real camera and tilt lens would allow you to place the thin plane of focus wherever you want in the image and at any angle you please - in GT5 the simulated reverse tilt effect is just a thin strip of focus horizontally through the centre of the frame:yuck:

Sick Nismo! Those standards look cleeeeaaaannnnnn 👍

Very good explanation, thank you  Question for ya...with the GT5 camera, does the "thin strip of focus horizontally through the centre of the frame" rotate with them camera? And does it change size at all as you zoom in and out?

The "thin strip of focus" stays fixed. So if you rotate slightly it will too. Shame that it doesn't simulate "proper" tilt-shift photography, but then again, the GT5 also doesn't simulate a real DSLR, so there's not much point debating about it.

Glad to be of assistance:)

Not played about with the GT5 effects much TBH.....but if it doesn't let you do it in GT5 you could do it in photoshop (or GIMP etc). There's loads of tutorials out there if you need a how to guide too:tup:

Anyway, seeing as I'm here I got round to uploading some pics from a while back....

Haha sweet Gunz. I missed those days with maniackz and you on that track.

I saw some nice, and some stupid photos lol. Please don't use a miniature effect. And stop taking photos from understeer or just a straight wheel without angle. GOSH ! I feel like I got stabbed in my stomach sometimes.

Nice pictures. Colour combo reminds me of the Magician S14.

Couldn't agree more with taking pictures of understeer and straight front wheels, it looks awful! Oh, and people taking a picture of there so called wall tap, when you can blatently see there tyre marks going into the wall, not along side it!
