Maybe what you need is a different driver for each track (maybe thats the reason for 5 b-spec drivers).
If thats the case it's going to take some serious effort in leveling up the drivers.
If the winner turns out to be norwegian, he would have to pay another £200 000 to get the car registered , that's more than the list prize of the car.

No, you get the car from a dealer in your own country, its in the rules, so registration fees should not apply.
The rules state that expenses are covered except road tax and insurance.

edit: whops reread the rules, the registration is not covered.. oh well, there goes my dream of getting a nice car.. :) well, the driving event will be fun anyhow.

Oh boy this competition will make me mad! Good going Norwegian boys 👍 Not sure if I'll have the time & will to get you..

That's seriously insane! I think Portugal won't be far behind that though!

Oh thats a pretty hugh amount of money :guilty:

Nevertheless I think the event is what we are going for. I hope to qualify and get to know all the face behind the nicks :-)

Regards and much fun

Are you the finnish guy that is chasing behind me? you had one hell of a first 2 days, good luck catching up, will enjoy the struggle up there :D looks like we are 1 dane, 2 norwegians and 1 finnish guy who are up there on the top 15 worldwide ranks.
too bad there is only 1 spot in our region :/

they say the prize is a 180.000€ car. last time i checked in mercedes site, it costs something between 260.000 and 320.000€.

even if i were to win, forget about getting the car. the taxes are in the region of 100.000€.

would be fun to go to the competition though.

Must be someone else, will see soon when my bobs finish the 24h race.

And yeah, should be at least 3 spots for our region! :)

This event takes place in the most pointless type of racing, the B-spec.
YES!! Kaz we like to watch cars to race BUT Completely hanging the most EPIC event in an already floored idea it's not the best way to push a new racing mode of gran turismo.I know and understand that every one needs to have a chance but i believe that this package (Signature) was targeting the veterans of the GT series
I enjoy all of the other premium stuff that comes along but i want to believe that the event was the 50% the reason that we bought it.

I totally agree with you, after having played the game for about two weeks after the release I had to start the b-spec grind in order to have a driver with a high enough level to be competative. That means first complete all the regular events, and after reaching the endurance races the PS3 has been running b-spec 24/7 for at least the last 3 weeks.
You would also need more then one level 40 driver to be at the top on the five different circuits, that means you would basically have to run the 24h nürburgring event 24/7 for at least another 3 weeks 👎.
Then comes the frustrating ordeal of the races themself, getting your driver to pass the other irratic AI drivers.

One thing PD/Kaz has done perfectly with GT5 is removing the fun out of the game as well as occupying the PS3.
Can't pause the endurance races, so playing other games/watching a movie etc is not possible if you want to be competative in this competition.

All my times are with the same driver, and he is far from maxed out. It's just a matter of patience and studying the AI. A smooth path is always possible with the correct set of commands. Just keep trying, the ones that wins the spot have atleast in one way or another deserved it, even though it is just a massive investment of time and effort. I would agree that I would like if this was only part of the competition and the top 100 from each region had to duke it out in a-spec, but oh well.

What do you mean far from maxed? Because the times seems really good 👍 Levels not maxed out or the green bars?

My times are decent but they can still be polished with about 2-3 seconds total time, (especially tsukuba and sarthe) , but I am not gonna bother until someone gets close, takes so much time to write down and time a racemap perfectly, for the monza run I used close to 500 tries and a LOT of notepad to perfect the first 2 laps, and I very much doubt that time will be beaten anytime soon.

My bob is 40, but the green bars are way off the top, hopefully my new trio of 40's that come next monday have more statsluck, the difference is probably miniscule though, but every 1/1000 counts in the long run.

So do you do this for a living now? Good lord, the time you've spent on this!!

Thanks for the helpful posts. Would like to add that I've read somewhere that setting your driver to share with friends freezes his aging/progress. I tested and found this to be true. For example, if you have 3 drivers with their helmet arrows pointing upward or horizontal, and they seem to be at a good point of their careers, you can freeze 2 of them and use the 3rd. This way when you're done with using the 3rd driver, you can unfreeze one of the other 2 and use him with the helmet arrow still pointing upward or horizontal.

Good luck to all.

Good luck to you too. I just did the race of my life on Sarthe, it took some planning, but it payed off big time. good luck to the ones able to top that time, if you are able, you are a better strategist than me. 12:57:932.
Thanks for the driver freeze trick, but to my experience (a lot) the arrows do not matter in terms of driving skill, I have done 9:58:xx runs on tsukuba several times with yellow arrows and my Sarthe and Moza runs were both with green arrows.

Edit: hats off to the spaniards who beat my Monza time, I am very impressed. I have to retry my roadmap there to see if I can beat you. I want to maintain my 2 world records :)

Could you post all your times for each track. I haven't set a time yet, but I did two laps of the first event and I knew straight away Bob was way off the pace so I decided to Level him up to 40 before I put some time and effort into it. Just want to see if UK times are off the pace by much as you seem quite devoted to it and very good at it.

Edit: Also, for all the events do you come in first place in the race?

Where are these leaderboards that they speak of? They're not on the website :indiff:

No, the only option you have are Tyre-type, and if you chose anything but sport softs, you are a retard. :)

Thanks.
Was hoping to be able to tune the suspension... seems like this competition isn't for me.
Being able to work as a race engineer for bob was going to be fun.

cheers

Great times at Sarthe and Monza! If it is not a secret, can you tell, please, when do you overtake the last car at Monza (at Ascari-corner or even before the bridge?)
Somehow Monza is a problem for me for today.

Be more descriptive please i.e. - what lap, etc.

Sure,
Indy 500 I have 4.57:1xx (can do a low 4:56 if I get my timings better)
high speed ring I ran a 6:01:xx if I recall correctly.
Monza I have a 9:52:xxx
for Tsukuba I have a 9:58:6xx at the moment, I can do a 9:57:0xx if I get my timings Edit: and I did, 9:57:3xx done.
and my Sarthe time was 12:57:923.

I got roughly a max improvement potensial with current bobs on 1.3-1.5 seconds on total time, so I am very happy with the current standing.

Ionah You have some awsome times as well, for Monza I overtook the last car at Ascari on lap 2.

Figure out a way to pass the lambo/ferarri and lexus before the second turn on the second lap so you can slipstream the GT on the away straight. Some bobs are unable to do this, and some can do it. and it is the diference between a 4:56:xx run and a 4:58:xx run.
