If anything, it's made it easier for me to level up my B-Spec XP... no way I'm going to get close to good times though.

Good luck to everyone though, I'll keep at it, as I said, it's the easiest way to level up at least.

So there are other ai drivers on track at the same time? If yes, it will be even more interesting!!

Will not have a chance to have a go untill a few days.. hopefylly bob's will be in shape.. :P !!

Just came back from Christmas with my family and found out that my PS3 lens failed

Same thing happened to me the day GT5 was delivered. Ordered a replacement lens (still waiting for it to arrive) but ended up buying a new PS3.

At least now I have a "slim".

Mine is Lvl 24 and he's about 10 seconds off. Had a quick look through the boards and some are on Lvl 20 doing much better. He's got no probs overtaking, just seems to brake unnecessarily. Same with my other driver.

Well.

You dont have to use any tools above Lvl 25.

(...)

But it takes patience to achieve Lvl 25.

greets from bayern to bayern :>

Servus :D

That's the point, and more drivers give you more variety. I only got 2 atm and one is outperforming the other on certain tracks, although he's at a lower level.

It just seems to me that the SLS comp has become something like the Tour de France. But I still get my F40 in the end ;)

I sadly does not have enough spare time to enter this competition on a serious level så therefore...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! here is my unused SLS Competition code up for the grab:-)
DHD3-4HB9-A3DH

This is an Norwegian purchased game version if that is important to know.
Use it in good health and send me pictures of the car if ya win:-)

Thank you! I'm competing in it now :D

Keep getting this message when trying to sign in on the Entry Form

"GT5 Signature Edition Prize Competition

Sorry
- An error occurred. Please close the window and try again."

Any Ideas

I think it's unfortunate that some of us got the signature edition just for this and it turns out we can't enter, while someone else somewhere would love the chance to enter.

so lets talk race by race.

indy. what are your best times? i got 5:06.xxx
currently 90th. trailing by <10seconds. not sure how the leader is getting 4.57.xxx something

Anyone else thoroughly dissapointed with this competition?

It seems to me now like a bit of a lottery, i would've been nowhere near winning it had it been an a-spec event but atleast the person who had won won it put some skill and effort into it. Don't get me wrong if someone here does win it, fair play, but i would afford you alot more respect had you done it in a-spec.

This wasn't the competition i was led to believe it was.

Back to A-spec then!! :)

Just seen this and can't beleve it's B-Spec. I only got my SE last Friday, and fortunately only paid £79 for it in Gamestation as they thought the comp was long started! So as my Bob is only a Lv 5 driver if anyone wants to buy a code PM me!

These events are a godsend for levelling your Bobs though. Even if it is incredibly frustrating when they just sit on the back of the car infront for a few corners.

So what is the best approach, Bob's stats need to be maxed out? Do we need 2 drivers, 1 that has a cool character and 1 that has a hot character but can overtake?

There really isn't one as such, stats don't need to be maxed out, my Bobs Speed and Mental Strength are prettymuch half full and Physical Strenght about 2/3rds full. You only need 1 Driver, the longest race is 10 Laps, my Bob by default is prettymuch right in the middle of Hot and Cold but in these races I keep him right into the Hot, I might hit Decrease once if theres a very tight corner or chicane coming up but appart from that it's just careful timing of the Increace Pace and Overtake buttons, especially on Indionapolis, if you are in a bend and you are a few car lengths behind someone, Dont hit Increace Pace to catch up as Bob catches up quicky once on the straight anyway so if you do hit Increace Pace he will just glue himself to the bumper of the car infront and stay there untill you are able to give the Overtake command. So instead, when in that situation in a bend, hit Overtake instead, then when on the straight Bob will still catch up very quickly but this time will overtake the guy in front straight away instead of hitching a ride on his bumper for the rest of the straight.
Another big part of it is the Ai Cars themselves, how they are racing and whether what they do manages to hold Bob up at all.

I got 5:00:2xx on Indy if I remember correctly after being held up by the DB9, the R8 and the Ford GT and I can easily see 4.57.xxx and maybe a little lower being possible on a close to perfect run. You really have to use the overtake/pace up commands at the right time and have a ton of luck to get a break from the AI cars blocking and Bobs inability to make up his mind on which side to go on while overtaking. Just started a 24h Endurance race, will try to level B. Lee and J. Bond up a bit before trying again and see if that helps.

Sounds to me like BINGO! I've driven one B-Spec race in GT4 and GT5 combined, and I plan to keep it that way.

Edit: Forgot to mention, got an unused code... blah blah, pm me if your interested, cheers!

Does anybody know if the leaderboards are available online? And where is the total time leaderboard? I could only see the individual ones in the seasonal events... It would be cool if somebody could put them online like they did for the GT Academy!

Wow. Seriously. They made the first event a B-Spec oval race. Have these people even played their game? Do they know what a joke B-Spec is? Have they seen a B-Spec race on an oval before?

I feel like a real idiot now for redeeming the code, when there are probably people out there who could make far better use of it than me throwing a controller through my TV...

I only managed to get my B-ob to lvl 18 since I knew that the competition is in B-spec only. However I was able to get my region 6th time on Tsukuba, currently I'm levelling my B-spec - maybe I will get it to 40 in 2 weeks..

On the other hand - just as I said when I got the B-spec only info - the event is very random - I can't get anywhere close to my first run on Tsukuba (that one with 6th position) - I get around 10s worse times than that first run...

Forget Lvl 40 in two weeks.
It takes around two weeks to get from Lvl 35 to 40 if you leave your PS3 nonstop on letting your bob do 24h races.

If i calculated right you have to drive Le Mans around 15 times to reach Lvl 40.

got my middle, hot and cold bobs trying out for this thingie here, all level 40, seems my middle one is pulling out the best results on this. on indy 1.58:0xx something should be possible @1:59:420 at the moment. currently ranked 7th but only been doing it for 2 hours so far.

Bob's class make a difference in ultimate speed. I.e Cornering, braking and the racing line consistency.
The higher the level the better the hotlaps he can produce.

However, the races have other cars involved, so many laps will have to be spent wisely overtaking them so that bob can have the last few to himself.

Not getting held up and a high level bob is the key.

And the attributes make a difference too. Some bobs are good in cornering, some braking some accuracy. I notice my bob5 is 25km/h slower going into corners at Indy compared to Bob1. Only a difference of 2 levels but 25km/h is a lot

what really? you used a high level bob to get that time? is that even possible?

doesnt high level bobs break in corners in oval tracks. in american championship the trick was to use lvl 0 bob. My lvl 0 bob got 5.06.xxx on indy. can you conirm that you used lvl 40 bob on the oval to get that time? i might have to try it then!

yes I used a level 39 middle bar bob to get that time. all my 40s have ran under 5 min on the track. As long as you do the overtake commands on the right spots and try to force overtaking on the inside of the oval he performs well. when in first place my bob runs the last 2 laps on 58:844 and 59:006 (tyre wear I suppose) but the key to a good time is the first 2 laps.

But like I said I have not done much laps yet, but the one leading my reagion by a huge margin is a GTP member so maybe he can be of more help and offer better insight than I can at the moment.
I will be a contender and will be upset if I finish the competition outside of the total top 5 in my region, however GTP_Milan is making the first place spot seem hard to grab at the moment.

So for some unkown reason I have decided to risk my sanity and take part in this competition. I just wanted to ask, what is the best area in the "heat bar" (can't think of a better name) to have your Bob sit at? Just above center? I.e a bit hot?

Has anyone experimented on the ideal level to be at to product the best times?

to my experience I keep it mega hot on the first run, only issuing overtake and pace up commands, then I see where my driver slips up on consecutive laps and then i write that down on a piece of paper, then I reduce pace there the next run and see if the time improves. rinse, repeat. some spots have to be downpaced every lap, while some only needs downpacing near the end due to tire wear.

It would be cool if they carried this over to regular GT5 and have a B-spec time trial leaderboards :)
