Really great honest opinion! I think it will help a lot of people to make an informed choice. I have a few question about the 12nm version.

1. do you think it is the minimum one you should buy? Or would the 7 and 10 perhaps be sufficient?
2. Does the 12nm version get hot with normal settings and gameplay?

Hey Pocket.

1. Without having used a 7 or a 10, it's hard for me to say, but I'd guess that the 10 would be sufficient for most. I just wanted to make sure I had more power than I needed and could turn it down. It sounds like the 7 is on the limit and isn't enough for some (such as W. Marsh) and gets too hot.

2. After a couple of hours of heavy use the sw12c gets hot to the point that it would feel uncomfortable to have your hand on it for more than a few seconds. I don't believe this is a problem. I think I read that Ollie said it won't break unless you can fry an egg on it? I'm assuming that he's tested these things, but again, something to bare in mind or message him about.

Short update:
- new firmware/software release - added new features and profiles in the wheel control panel app
- tested all night long and decided just to check FM7 - now works fine. Cant say from this wheel update or from its own Forza update but works!:)
- latest Rfactor 2 update added new features for DD Wheels and now the SW7C have proper degrees of rotation per car. If you remember I mentioned before that need to go to wheel`s app to set degrees , because ingame always stay on 900 even for open wheelers and was unplayable.
So far, so good!:)

What were the issues with Forza 7? I remember you saying it was compatible, but you never went beyond that.

Dont know from where you follow my posts... we spoke here that Forza games on a PC are incompatible with any DD wheels and ppl use EmuWheel - a software created from Forza community I believe. This software have too many steps for my liking and dont work flawless - sometimes disconects etc. In that time I managed to make possible to use my wheel on Xbox 1 and PS4, so I played Forza on the console.
At this time if you go to Forza 7 without that EmuWheel app loaded - the game recognise you inputs for binding, but when you load on the track it cut the signal to the wheel and you cant play. Now I decided to test and was pretty sure will cut the signal again, but was suprised - everything worked perfect!:) Even the degree of rotation per car was set correct.

As a sw10 owner i can chime in and say i think the 10nm is the sweet spot. i have mine turned down to 8nm and i think it's a good balance of power and heat headroom.

i can do regular grip driving for 1 to 2 hours or so and it only gets warm. Vigorous stuff like drifting and lots of countersteering like rally it can get very warm/hot but only after extended sessions. also i've noticed the heat management gets better as the firmware improves.

I've been quietly stalking this discussion here for a while now and finally pulled the trigger on the SW7C (which ships today), after learning that the FeelVR base will be delayed until Q2 next year. Anyways, I look forward to receiving the sw7c and will post pictures of it in the rig once it arrives and give you guys my opinion too.

Welcome to the SW7C club! I really like my SW7C!;)

Forza Motorsport 7 have totaly new FFB with update on dec 4th and to confirm - my SW7C works after the update, too. The only game that I want to play and dont have FFB is F1 2018 - which is odd to me...

Any idea if support for F1 is being worked on? I'm a fan of them too and would definitely play 2018 if it was supported.

I am sure that will be added in the supported games, soon. The Compact line FFB evolves very fast with the monthly updates!;)

Hey guys,

Happy to say that I received the SW7C yesterday and have had a few hours of happy driving. First of all hats off to Simplicity for the customer service (and DPD) for correctly predicting the delivery time, with accuracy down to the hour haha.

Once I got the package, I was shocked when I pulled the motor out of the box. This thing is really tiny (see first picture of Imgur gallery linked below). Mounting it to my 8020 rig was super easy, literally just bolding it on. Although I must note that that coating on the 8020 mounting plate, not sure if its anodised or painted, made the whole diameter a bit too small for the bolts, but no biggie.

I received the drivers and firmware through email, so I didn't have to wait for the 1 hour session to get it going. Set up was pretty straight forward, although i had a ton of USB devices connected to my PC and one of them was making the wheel disconnect. But thats an issue on my side that I fixed by figuring out which device was making it bug out.

The wheel is easy to set up in all of the supported games and the firmware is easy to use in order to fine tune the force feedback. Compared to my old T300, the difference is night and day, in terms of smoothness and torque. (Interesting note; I installed a Chinese quick release to switch my rims quickly. Got this gold quick release for about 5 bucks from AliExpress, and its utter junk, would not recommend. It has too much play, I tried modding it with tape or elastic bands on the shaft like many have done on reddit, but it's unusable.)

I look forward to using the wheel more, and am really happy with it so far. Here are the promised pictures of it on my rig.

Wish you milions of miles with the SW7C! Great rig!

Anyone had a play with the latest firmware which adds controller and weighted centre settings? i'm assuming weighted centre gain and range allows you to dial out the wheel centre oscillations, no idea about controller.

If you hold the mouse cursor over the name of effect it will show some general explanation for every effect!:)

Good point! I didn't notice that when i was tinkering last night, hopefully that helps make sense of things cos i was just randomly doing stuff until it felt right.

Hi guys,

just a few questions to the lucky ones who own one of the units ;)

Has the wheel some kind of auto-calibration, or do you need to re calibrate it on every start-up? If yes, how long does this process take?
I did not find any public page where news about new software features are announced. Where do you get your information from?

@krassi(and the others too): as you mentioned it, at first the wheel feels strong, even the 7nm one. Has this changed after you got used to it. Or is the strength still enough for you?

BR

After you start the wheel it does some initializing like 10 seconds and it is ready to use, nothing need to recalibrate... for the power - in general people want more and more - I found out athat even lower the games FFb to enjoy the smoothness, personal for me fighting with big Nm is not realistic 7Nm are plenty enough.... I will not complain if I even have 100Nm wheel, but those extra money better to invest in good rim...also as I said before the power feels more becuase of the speed. In the last update you can even increase the speed. If you have any question - just ask!:)

If you mean do you get used to the strength and want more? Then no. I can tell you that mine set to 8nm always feels strong. It may even be too strong compared to real life, i track a car with power steering and it feels about right, for non power steering or a race car you can probably turn it up a bit. But at 7 or 8nm it's definitely strong enough to wrestle you around. You have to approach it with respect, rather than a toy cos it can get the best of you.

If you mean does the strength fade then definitely not, even when it gets hot it stays strong.

Thank you very much.

I need to think about which route to go. Spend my money on the sw10c, stay in the TM territory or go for Fanatec.
I will monitor this thread for sure.

Just to tease you guys - F1 2018 coming supported in the upcoming update!:) With some new features also!;)

Yes + the Telemetry tab which is very handy to have!;)

Sounds awesome! But how did you guys find this out, is there some email list that I'm not on? Or simply stalking the website? ;) (can't see the f1 2018 support anywhere btw)

Just tested F1 2018 lol...awesome with FFBBBBBBBBBBBBB:))))

You will receive mail with some info and links, I will siggest to update after the email comes... not to rush to be updated first like me... few hours are not big deal :)

Cool, can't wait!

I'm still going to wait for reviews on the DD1, FeelVR before deciding if I get a DD wheel and which one.
