Singstar Queen Track Listing Revealed
Posted on Feb 3, 2009 by Earnest Cavalli of Wired
Queen The Singstar series has long been overshadowed by Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but perhaps the release of a special version of the game dedicated specifically to Queen will help woo the nascent virtual rockers to Sony's series.

Then again, one wonders how well the PlayStation 3 and PS2 game's 25-song track list can fare against its competitors who have three times as many tunes even without downloadable content.

Still, if you're a Queen fan, the game does seem to cover all the band's important bases. A full listing of the game's songs can be found below.

Included in both the PS3 and PS2 versions of Singstar Queen:
  1. Another One Bites the Dust
  2. Bicycle Race
  3. Bohemian Rhapsody
  4. Breakthru
  5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
  6. Don't Stop Me Now
  7. Fat Bottom Girls
  8. I Want it All
  9. I Want to Break Free
  10. Innuendo
  11. One Vision
  12. Play the Game
  13. Somebody to Love
  14. These are the Days of Our Lives
  15. Tie Your Mother Down
  16. Under Pressure
  17. We are the Champions
  18. We Will Rock You
  19. Who Wants to Live Forever
  20. You're My Best Friend

Exclusive to the PS3 release:
  1. A Kind of Magic
  2. Hammer to Fall
  3. Killer Queen
  4. Radio Ga Ga
  5. The Show Must Go On

Dancing Wookie. Need I say more?

Dancing Stormtrooper is OK, but the Wookie really gets into it. Plus he has a cameo in one of his female friend's (wife? girlfriend? friend?) videos.

I wish they would post when they update the US store more often. I see almost weekly European updates on PS3fanboy, but rarely see anything for the US, and then if I don't play in a while, like when I am sick or busy, I log in and see more songs available. And if I missed one update then that stuff isn't listed under the new releases.

Just a bit more info, and maybe a bit more support, for the US would be nice. In fact, a few karaoke standards for the US wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm not saying that should be the focus, but any of the songs from the "Duets" soundtrack would be nice (there are a few). Honestly, if SingStar saw the kind of support that Rock Band does it would be incredibly awesome. But as it stands, I believe that Rock Band has passed SingStar in the number of songs available and I believe SingStar had a few hundred head start.

That said, it is definitely fun and I am glad they have a focus on a wide range of music. When I have done karaoke in bars I have rarely done traditional karaoke standards (but they are fun to do) and instead aim for more of a rock flare, as it matches my voice better (my high score is on Don't Fear the Reaper). I am glad to see some of my favorites from my teenage years, like Blind Melon and Spin Doctors. And throwing in some off-the-wall stuff, like Weird Al Yankovic is awesome.

Overall, it is a mixed bag. The game itself is great. A good layout, good gameplay, and the disc swaping is awesome. It is better than any other singing/karaoke gameplay I have experienced, even if it is more difficult than Rock Band for me.

That said, the support, at least on the US side, has felt a bit lacking in comparison to the competition. Maybe I wouldn't be as judgmental if I had played it before the other games.

Anyway, despite my issues with the online side of things I highly recommend it to anyone interested in this kind of thing.

Just a quick note to say that Singstar will be getting the trophy patch tomorrow.....

Sony is about to update the SingStar experience to version 3.01, which brings "cool new features, trophies and a new look for My SingStar Online." Girl power!

According to Sony's official info, there are over 30 trophies now up for grabs, including Super Singer Gold, Keep it Cool, and All Eyes On You. There's also a brand-new SingStar Voice Control function.

"Simply announce the track you want to perform next into your microphone, and watch it appear on your screen," says the firm. Sounds like the work of the devil to us. Bet it doesn't work when you're pissed and shout "Gimme some Oasis you ****!"

This function will be available with SingStar Pop Edition at launch and for all SingStar PS3 users as a free download from SingStore Extras on April 22.

The downside to all these upsides is that SingStore and My SingStar Online will be unavailable for around eight hours at some point today.

Still no word on if I have to restart my save file?

And do trophies work for disc swap songs? Or DLC songs? I assume yes, but these things are odd sometimes.

That's a good point, when the trophy support was first mentioned I had a quick look for a Singstar save on my PS3 and the weird thing is, it doesn't have one!!!!

It would appear that all the save data is actually stored in with the game data, so I have no idea if it will clear all current saved scores or take them into account. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

I would imagine that it will support disc swap and DLC songs, given that trying to filter them for this would be far more work that just including them. The trophies themselves seem geared towards an 'any' song approach.

I don't think I ever noticed that, but there really is no progress to save and your scores are saved in your profile. So, even if you lost your hard drive you wouldn't lose anything aside from DLC, which can be redownloaded.

Hopefully, my first song will be the first thing I sing after the update.

And if I had even an ounce of talent I could platinum this thing. It isn't like the Rock Band singing trophies where a few talkie/rap songs will come back perfect as long as noise is made at the right time.

The second part of this update also nearly confirms my suspicion that SingStar has been using speech recognition, particularly on the rap/talking bits. That would also explain why SingStar is definitely trickier than other singing stuff in music games and why I score better on songs where the singers have a voice similar to mine. I do extremely well on Nirvana and Blue Oyster Cult because of this.

Looks like the trophy update will now be the 22nd, in line with the voice control update.

I've been playing sinsgtar all day and getting a few trophies along the way :D
I can confirm that you can get trophies through use of the PS2 discs too! also been having a laugh checking out some users vids in the singstar community section
at least I know now I'm not the only one that sucks at singing!

Kelly, I thought you only knew how to use the PS3 to shoot people and drive cars!:sly:

OK, I did all the updates last night and it all works great. I also notice that the issues I have had with connection and speed to the Singstore appear to be resolved. Now, if they can give the US some more US-centric music.

I really, really, really like the voice controls. I didn't know how well it would work because I have had some bad voice recognition software experiences with work. But as it is specifically looking for something in the game and not just attempting to match up your voice to something in the dictionary it works very well. If you says something incorrectly, but close to a word it expects it will assume that is what you mean. For instance, you can say Britney Spears, but Britney will do just fine. I also tested this on Billy Joel (Billy) and Crash Test Dummies (Dummies). It works for all DLC titles and disc swapped PS2 titles.

However, the one thing it won't recognize is when you complete a song and are supposed to say "continue" but instead say, "Ugh continue." It just gives you a red question mark.

But once activated you can even turn your DS3 off and completely run the entire game (I didn't try online) with the microphone. You can even browse by saying go left/right or have it just flip on its own by saying browse left/right and then stop when you land on something you like.

As the download was only 4MB I am now almost confident that SingStar is already using some voice recognition software in game, particularly on the rap sections. This explains why my SingStar experience is much different from my Rock Band singing experience. In Rock Band you can say whatever you want as long as you are at the right pitch. You can sort of get away with it in SingStar but it is much less forgiving, and this may be why.

Anyway, nothing but good things to report from this newest update.

Well maybe if you stopped trying to talk like Obama that wouldn't be a problem! ;)

Seriously though, I was very skeptical about the whole voice recognition thing, so I'm glad to hear that they apparently pulled it off. 👍

So when do we get treated to some FoolKiller music videos? :D

Which reminds me of an older conversation....

Please tell me you have made videos of yourself with your PS Eye.

I would buy the game just to see those.

It is SingStar that does that, right?

Yes... (I started a thread for it as well, for those interested)

However, you'll have to find which ID I have them under. :D

Besides... I wouldn't want to get caught by my fellow GTPers singing a Pussycat Song, right Scaff? ;)

I have to say though, as much fun as it is to performer karaoke... we have had a really fun time browsing through many of the video and snapshot submissions from others posted in the SingStore Community Area. 👍

Here are some of our favorites right now:

What can bet better than a Storm Trooper that raps? :)

I know...

DSCN1250.jpg

How about a dancing Wookie? :)

Oh, and he even sings with the voice of a Wookie! 👍

Wait, I know something even better than that... a Wookie with a hot girlfriend who can really sing... and doesn't mind him riding his bike through the apartment....

DSCN1252.jpg

She can really sing well. 👍

And she can lip-synch realllllly well. ;)

Speaking of 'lip-synching'....

It really only gets hung up if you rush your words or have other noises that prevent it from hearing you clearly.

Also, I should add that I believe they snuck in calibration as a tutorial. As it shows you how it works it asks you to specifically say certain things to "try it out." It came off suspiciously like the calibration you would see in a more open system.

So when do we get treated to some FoolKiller music videos? :D
I have to come up with a gimmick now that there are trophies related to your popularity. Since you have done them before, do you cut out the part you want to upload or does it just do the main part for you? I've seen some stuff that makes me wonder how they filmed it live.

Speaking of, there is a stop motion video of a pencil-drawn Sackboy dancing on there now.

Someone had to bring the PCD up again didn't they.

Well at least that that's changed now (for the record its my 9 year old that got that score), now onto something trophy related.

I have four people on my friends list with Singstar and need one more, so come on I must be able to find another one here someplace.

Well, if you don't care about it being honest, you will notice that one of my friends is FoolKiller_EU, which actually only wound up there when I was testing something for LBP.

SingStar is really my wife's deal, I only play along. :D But as far as I remember, I don't recall her doing any editing... if you can, that's awesome news. 👍

If it's stop motion then unless they used the PS Eye to capture a video from another display (which is possible) then that means it is allowing for some extensive editing.

I'd love to see these videos you are referring to, next time you boot up SingStar, would you mind getting the names of the videos and the user names, then I can use the search option to find them. 👍

It's FK's fault... he made me do it! :D

No problem with being dis-honest for a trophy of this type, I will also be reseting the date to get a couple of the other ones.

Christmas will be early for the duration of a song this year.

Well, I just order SingStar Amped ($18) and SingStar Pop ($13) from Amazon.

Amped has all the music I grew up loving, and some other stuff. I rented it from Gamefly, but it never became available to buy. Amped songs were the only ones I could break 9,000 points on. Pop was just too cheap to pass up. I plan to eventually get all the PS2 discs so that even the songs we don't enjoy that much can still be sung by friends and we will wind up saving a ton of money on DLC, considering that at the new price it is $1 a song on disc, and at these prices I am paying around the $0.50 per song range.

Will do.

Thanks, the more Singstar friends we all have the more chance of getting some of the on-line community trophies as well.

Just don't laugh to hard at how much I suck at singing when I put some videos up - honestly I am very bad - but booze fuels a lack of shame.

Well, I finally uploaded some media.

Sadly, I have discovered that picture of me, even wearing my Body By PlayStation shirt only gets 1 star. Picture of me offering a plate full of taquitos and burritos, 3 stars. Pictures of my dog, 3.5 stars.

General rule of thumb: Cute and/or funny > cool and/or awesome (some may argue lame).

What if I drink beer?
