Sleeping Dogs has a Just Cause 2 clothes set for those with a Just Cause 2 save file.

If you have a Just Cause 2 save file you'll be able to download a Just Cause 2 clothes set for use in Sleeping Dogs.

The United Front Games' gangster kill 'em up has dipped into into Avalanche Studios' superb open world blow 'em up for the in-game content, free to download at launch for all platforms. Both games are published by Square Enix.

Browse Wei Shen's safehouse wardrobe and you'll gain the unique player outfit featuring Rico Rodriguez' trademark threads.
Wear the clothes and you'll get a boost to your action hijack ability, allowing you to perform stunt-style takeovers of enemy vehicles from an even greater distance. Credit: Eurogamer

^ I am pretty sure I still have my Just Cause 2 file save so that will be nice to get a free outfit.
As for the "Best open world game of 2012". Well so far there isnt a single other open world game released in 2012 so not much for competition there. But I love sandbox games so I am looking forward to playing this.

I wonder if Activision is kicking themselves for being stupid enough to let this game slip through their fingers...Although, the game was said to be almost completed when Activision shut down the company, canceling the game. I know the original developers weren't very happy. Seems like all Square Enix had to do was change all the titles and update the gameplay a little bit as it only took a year or so of extra development to put this game back out.

Hong Kong Limited Edition Of Sleeping Dogs

Hong Kong is getting a special version of Sleeping Dogs with unique packaging and four content packs.

The limited edition includes the George St-Pierre pack, Police Protection Pack, Martial Arts Pack, and a Deep Undercover pack (this includes a "plain clothes" costume to make you harder to detect and an undercover car). Sleeping Dogs – Hong Kong Special Edition will retail for $388HKD or $50. Yeah, it’s less than the North American version and it’s in English too.

The Hong Kong edition sounds cool. Do DLC codes that are downloaded from one PSN region (a HK one) work when played on another account (a UK one)? Or do the packs come already on the disk?

Still not sure why they dropped the True Crime name and changed it to Sleeping Dogs. :boggled:
I enjoyed the True Crime games and I love sandbox games so I will at least rent this.

Square Enix didn't purchase the True Crime naming rights from Activision after Activision dumped the IP.

I'm surprised there is not much hype on this. So far the game is looking really good. I already pre ordered my copy and am anxious to get my hands on it.

I agree its looking very good but the odd name "Sleeping Dogs" is one of the reasons its not getting any hype. Most people have no clue this is part of the True Crime series. Comes out in 2 weeks. 8/14/12. I plan to at least rent it since I always enjoy sandbox games. http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/sleeping-dogs/99134

After the failure of True Crime: New York I would say not being branded as a True Crime game is a good thing for Sleeping Dogs, speaking of which it was called "Black Lotus" originally then Activision decided to rename it True Crime: Hong Kong due to the slight similarities between it and previous True Crime games until they eventually cancelled it. Anyway this game has so much more features now then when it was a True Crime game. If they release a demo there hopefully will be a decent amount of sales.

EDIT: According to IGN Sleeping Dogs is the 7yh most popular 360 game coming soon.

Sleeping Dogs Full Gameplay Live Stream! Will begin at 2:30PM P.S.T.

SquareEnix
Sleeping Dogs PC to include a host of added extras

Launching day and date with the Xbox 360 and PS3 releases, Sleeping Dogs for Windows PCs is set to ship with a stunning set of PC-specific features to bring Hong Kong island to life. With an array of advanced graphical features on-board, the Windows PC release gives gamers with the hardware bandwidth a host of graphical enhancements, hardware optimisations and support for the latest AMD and Nvidia features.

The high-resolution texture pack updates the game to a new level, bringing eye-watering detail and crisp clear rendering to everything from city skyscrapers to crumbling ancient temples. Another layer of depth is added for gamers running at higher resolutions using increased small object detail to render smaller items of the world from a far greater distance to give an incredible sense of scale and detail. In-game shadows receive a significant upgrade with support for high-resolution shadow textures, high quality shadow filters and support for Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. Sleeping Dogs features performance enhancements for both dual and quad core PC setups, enhanced performance for Nvidia SLI and AMD Crossfire, support for keyboard and mouse setup (including key mapping) and optimisations for both 3D and multi monitors on both AMD and Nvidia hardware.

For Team Fortress 2 players a special bonus awaits. Pre-order the game on Steam and players will get access to eight new items in the Team Fortress 2 Triad Pack. There’s something for every class: pyros will conk enemies over the head with a neon sign, heavies will breathe fire, scouts will get chopping with a comically oversized cleaver and spies will do what they do best, but even more covertly. And with all the new hats, swag and tattoos, you’ll fit right in on the new battlefield: a King of the Hill map inspired by the streets of Hong Kong!

This game is looking so dang good. Probably would look amazing on the PC but I will be renting it for the 360. If it wasnt for the fact that I already have SR3 and Crackdown 2 for my sandbox fun, I would buy this. Plus Borderlands 2 comes out next month. Who knows, if I like the rental enough, it might be a purchase. Anyone know the estimated length of the game?

Anyone know the estimated length of the game?

One of the reviews was a little disappointed that the story was "only" 14 hours or so.

Was watching a stream yesterday, and in one of the radio channels a track by Opeth came on, I was like  , the music collection looks awesome

They have a whole station dedicated to Roadrunner Records

The livestream I posted yesterday had 15 hours of freeroam/spoiler free-ish gameplay, I had it on in the background for about 12 of that. This is going to be a day one for me on PC, especially with the announcement of the higher res textures and DX11 features. This is the first game in a long time I've actually been hyped about, I even had to watch Infernal Affairs again last night.

Day one on PC for me as well (hopefully sooner).

Watched about the first hour or so of gameplay and it looks pretty good. Lots of depth and missions to the story mode.

Apparently the PC version will be far superior to the console versions because unlike how most games are just ported over from console to PC this actually takes advantage of that formats full potential.

It will have extra high res textures and advanced lighting. This is why its so annoying that we still are on this generations consoles because the difference is staggering now if it wasn't already a few years ago.

Having said that United Front don't seem to be getting the most out of the consoles compared to other open world dev's, the graphics seem to be average but more than acceptable. The saving grace it that they are seasoned PS3 developers (the only games they have done) so its likely to be the lead platform i.e. wont suck bug wise.

Want to see really how different the PS3 and PC versions are. Can't wait for the demo.

What review said the campaign was only 14 hours? Is there more to do after the 14 hour campaign? Are there a lot of side missions and other activities to add replay value? If there is nothing else to do after the 14 hour campaign then yes that is indeed very short. Saints Row 1 takes about 100 hours to complete everything in the game. SR2 and SR3 are the same way. By the time you finish all the side missions and campaign you are around 100 hours. So yes 14 hours is very short for a sandbox game. UNLESS there are a ton of side activities to complete.

Borderlands comes out next month so I am trying to see if this will hold me over for a month. If Sleeping Dogs is only 14 hours, I will rent it.

OXM UK Review

They've also added that to complete it with all the "inessential stuff" will be 20 hours. I agree that's not as long as others, but this is a sandbox game, you can play for as long as you want, finding little new quirks, features etc.

It's also worth mentioning that OXM UK gave the game 9/10

14-20 hours. Ouch thats VERY short for a sandbox game. I will just rent it but I imagine it will be a very fun 14-20 hours. Was just hoping for side missions or more replay value.

The core story missions (and the amount of play you had to put in to unlock them) of Just Cause 2 were at or around 20 hours, that's on the hardest mode (I've played for 28 hours but a lot of that after 20 hours was the result of leaving the game on pause and discovering settlements) but if you want to get anywhere near 100% completion you have to put in around 100 hours of work. I can't imagine Sleeping Dogs will have anywhere near that much, but yeah, 14-20 hours of story doesn't mean 14-20 hours of game, which is what I imagine reviews and previews are alluding to.

Actually the review confirmed 14-20 hours total.

http://www.oxm.co.uk/44545/oxm-pres...x-360-review-shorter-than-gta-iv-but-sweeter/

Reviewer Log's only real quibble is that it's a little short by open world standards, at 14 hours in length (update: complete all the inessential stuff, and you're looking at around 20).

Again, 20 hours is a very short sandbox experience. Almost all the other sandbox games average around 100+ hours to complete everything.
