SMS - No effort into the online?

Online is a complete shambles, no penalties for gamers that just take you out at every opportunity, no 5 seconds slowdowns for people who cut the corners, No turning off collisions.....Awful attempt at creating an online game! Should never of been released in it's current state imo! Also $200 for winning an 8 lap race? Infact $200 for winning any race? C'mon!

Offline is a blast, Online is a joke!

How about putting some effort in SMS? Would love to hear Ian Bell's thought's on the lack of effort from SMS regarding online and why basic penalties were left out?

Had a few races earlier on Xbox, thought id give it another try, big mistake! Complete destruction derby as ever, all the idiots driving works Lambos, no idea what a racing line is..etc etc..back to any online racing on Forza 3 I think, thank god for autolog tho eh 👍

Isn't it about the same for every racing game? As far as I remember, it wasn't any better in, say FM3... I guess the only way around this is to get into an online league or some decent guys on your friendlist and so on. Anyways, I prefer the AutoLog anyways, so, yeah, I don't really mind...

It still is a let down for those who focus on online racing. Then again, if the penalty system was too intrusive, it wouldn't be all that great, either....

Totally agree, all online racing has its idiots, just some more than others, SU2 seems to attract them in their hordes, my personal experience online with FM3 always tends to attract proper racers/gamers, sure GT5 is the same but havent played that in ages, wonder why! lol..

This is why I never got into online racing at all on any game. I always felt it was far to much 'work' to have fun.

I have always been content playing single player or split-screen back in the day.

Each to their own though and one day I might brave it, just not yet!

Autolog is as online as I want to be. Games are better enjoyed offline.

I thought I was alone! One day, there will be superfast, lag free Internet in every home. There will be a clever system that automatically matches you with clean racers (or not, depending what you want). You will never have to worry about being smashed for no reason, kicked for winning and you won't have to hunt down like minded people to race with via forums or sheer luck. When I have all of those I will join in with the online scene.

Until then, I shall leave it to those with better skills and more patience than me and be content to race offline.

Don't know if it's SMS fault, maybe EA managers are the biggest cheaters around the net and they don't want too many rules in their game :sly: lol

Surly it's SMS faults by not putting any penalties in the game or any deterrent ?

Are people cheating? Not according to SMS rules.

I'm enjoying tons of close online racing with people on my friends list. Sure online needs work, like collision detection is awful and crash behaviour is crazy, but I'm not seeing all the bashers that people are talking about.

Accidents happen, and when they do just get over it and play on, it's a game after all. I think some people take it too seriously.

I think being a NFS branded game is why there are so many crap racers online. Maybe if they just call it Shift 2 would help. Lots of 10 year olds out there that love NFS and even though this a more sim-like game they gotta have it. They definitely need to get the NFS out of the title though as that is mostly why this game gets ragged on so much.

I think they did try to drop the NFS from the title to make it seem more appealing to the 'sims crowd'.

I love S2U offline and autolog. But online with randoms is horrid so far on PC version

Cant wait for PSN to come back up so I can get my GT5 online fix

In order to play shift2 online will need to search for some sort racing league

Someone above hit it on the nail. This game needs to track 'bashers' and rate them- then put them in matches with like minded people lol. Even Halo makes some attempt to rate players...
