I picked it because of the increased downforce and torque compared to my first choice, the Honda S2000

I will not be driving an RX-7. But, as some of you have read, we've been test driving the RX-8. Yes, I would not be surprised if there are a lot of rotaries. For now, it will be okay.

Next season I will look at rules to spread the teams out. I'll also revisit the HP/weight settings. I've seen two cars that I thought would be good only to find out they are heavier than I realized.

I was considering a Mustang Mach 1, but realized that it would be 200 KG too heavy.

I was considering some pretty left-wing ideas, but, there's a "Premium car only" rule. I guess, then, I can't try out the MR-S. Once I find a non-soft-top MR-S, I'm using it in some series or another. :sly:

Outside of that, it's not an FR.

It doesn't have to be premium. Mind you, it may be harder for you to get if it isn't, but you can run standards.

No concepts, or cars from tuner garages.

Mind you, I don't mind special editions, like the Type RS or Bathurst RX-7s.

I don't think a Mach 1 would be competitive, but I am thinking of doing something different for next season with the weights. I based it off of SuperGT, and those are very very heavily modified street cars. They are much lighter than we can make them.

I tested all three of the cars I was testing on each track, the Mach 1 actually beat the S2000 and RX-7 at HSR

Well, it beat the S2000 on one of the four tracks. Would it do so well on the other tracks? And how is tire life on the Mach 1 compared to the S2000 at HSR? Even if you can run the race on just one pit stop, I think you'll have wear problems and your lap times will fall.

And something I meant to respond to earlier:

Having a hard time picking car, to many RX-7's to choose from! Arg! They all seem to similar, and im not a "RX-7" guy, so idk the differences lol.

I read some were someone was thinking of , making it 40 minutes, instead of 30, something about HAVING to pit then? Is it still 30 mins or 40?

You don't have to pit, but yes, I'm shooting for 40 minute races so the decision to pit or not becomes more important. The first race will be 24 laps at Trial Mountain. Maybe you can go that long without pitting, but.. is it worth it? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

[*]Each race will be the same number of laps, and will last about 30 minutes.

You need to change the first post then, you still have the 30 minute time up there.

As for the "so many RX-7's, i wouldnt worry about it, they will be different model's at least (i hope!)
Like the "FD & FC"

Thank you, fixed that.

The reason I bumped it up was because when I was testing that RX-8, I could conceivably go 30 minutes without a pit stop. I didn't think my lap times were falling quite enough to justify the 20some second pit stop.

Damage is also on light. I'd be more likely to pit to avoid an accident, but I'm taking it easy on everyone this first season and keeping damage on light.

As to the FCs, I think, at this HP/Weight limit, they might be as good an idea if not better than the FDs. We'll see.

I dont know the difference between the FC/FD/any other name....I just know a RX-7 is a RX-7 :(

The FC is the RX-7 Savanna. It's the third generation RX car. (RX stands for rotary powered.) FD is the fourth generation. It's the one that RE-Amemiya based both of the RX-7s that are in the game off of.

Mazda RX-7 FD

I just thought I'd clear that up, since it seems like a popular car.

P.S., my heart swells with pride for the RX-7.

I think the wheelbase is slightly longer on the FD, could be wrong. It is slightly heavier, but it is much more powerful. I think the weakest FD was still a quarter again as much horse power as the strongest FC.

My uncle actually had an FB. No idea why it isn't in the game. Was it just crap?

I didn't think about what RX meant. That seems obvious. What about MX? I know Mazda makes/made the MX-5 and MX-6.

Also, why is the RX-8 an 8 and not just an RX-7 FE?

The RX-8 had new doors. It wasn't a two-door sports car. It was a 2.5/3 door sports car. It represented an entirely new direction in the company.

As for the FB, my father and I almost bought one. :indiff: I don't think they suck.

The FD has the same sized motor, but, newer technology. The oil/cooling/intake/exhaust and turbo were all "upgraded" to modern specs, especially for the Bathurst/Type Rs.

I think the wheelbase is pretty similar. The FDs are much smaller, lower to the ground than the FCs. Certainly, the FB/FC is a huge difference, but the FC/FD was Mazda thinking "It's a good car. Why would we change it?" That philosophy still shows with their MX-5 models.

Eh... they aren't real doors, and they aren't going to keep making the RX-7.

If I were in charge, I don't see the need to name this new one an RX-8. If they wanted to, they could've made a proper sedan/saloon and named it the RX-8.

Don't they have a CX-9?

Wonder what CX means.

Bronco, are you working on any tunes for our team yet? The other teams are already practicing.. :nervous:

I just talked to him and he had a busy week. He is tuning as we speak I believe, so we should have cars soon. Besides, who needs practice.

Heh... you should. I'm the only D3 person in this series, but since you've only recently gone to D2, you are all I have as far as any hopes of beating. I'm gunning for you, Chuthulu.

Bwahahahaha!

As long as you know where the throttle and Brake is you don't need practice.:sly:

"Right side's go, left side's brakes. You don't need anymore! Out of the car! Let me practice." :sly: :ouch:

In seriousness, I am hoping that my team gives me feedback on the car's handling. I don't know what's going on here. :scared: Guys!

What is BRAKE. I had a Ford once. It was BREAK all the time...are they similar.

Mopar....I want on last night but will I have the shiny new (blank) in my garage when I do? :nervous:
