I'm planning on moving to pc sometime next year so thats why the CSW is gonna be good

I wonder what the new features will be that Thomas is talking about. Wifi in the wheel so you can connect to it with your iPhone for more detailed fine tuning and real life data from the wheel directly.

Not sure... He did mention a smart phone holder in one of the videos as far as I remember

Well the only thing we know for sure is that these features won't be available on the Elite.
If there is one thing that would be handy then it's having a USB connection on the wheel so your device can stay charged at all time. Also maybe that way you could use the phone came to film yourself during races. Would be fun to see the facial expressions of some people. lol

I've already got a CSR Elite preordered. PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 all see some use. If I didn't have an Xbox, that Costco T500RS/TH8RS bundle is pretty sweet too.

I voted for the CSR wheel seeing as I just ordered one along with some club sport pedals. It will be my first wheel and I can't wait. Hopefully it will get me hooked enough to justify dropping the extra coin for the elite which I don't doubt is worth it.

It is a great deal but well lets put it this way a year ago I placed my order for the T500RS thinking Fanatec are going to be left in the water.

Here was this new GT5 wheel with the more power/precision and upcoming shifter advertised looking like a big upgrade.

Little did I think, that only a year later from ordering the T500 would the T500 itself be challenged and (possibly) surpassed.

You're gonna love that setup......it's exactly what I currently use. The wheel is great and the CSPs are hands down THE best pedals you can buy under $500 IMO. I've got myself a CSR E on the way to supplant the CSR

I had owned G27 and T500RS, if clubsport wheel system didn't support x box360, I actually had no motivation to buy it. So please, support it.

CSR Elite is not good enough for fans like me.

If those are the previous 2 wheels then how is the CSR-Elite not good enough? This statement really confuses me.

I understand your shifter comment as both of those wheels have a great shifter. I'm not sure about the CSR shifters as I have not used them, but I know those are technically better than my porsche shifters. So I could see your point of view there.

Limitations from Microsoft's Xbox system. It doesn't allow the quick release system and only as much buttons as there are on a controller if I am correct. Why the shifters aren't adjustable is a choice I don't know the reason of. The shifters on the Elite and CSR are a huge improvement over the Porsche wheels. They feel equal or maybe even better then a G25/G27 set of shifter paddles.
So yeah, in short the ClubSport Wheel will never be compatible with the xbox because of hard- or software limitations of the console itself.
The base of the elite is the same as of the CSW though, so expected the same amount of fun from its FFB system. It's just that the rim is different, but there will be different rims available in the future although the amount is less then with the CSW.
So until a better solution comes available which will be for a long while unless Logitech pulls a random rabbit out of the hat next year, you will have to do with the Elite as the best wheel you can get for a while for the Xbox. It's just up to you to decide if you want to stick with whatever you have or buy a Elite until something better comes and then sell it and buy the better wheel.

He's got to be talking about the rim only, theres no way he could mean the base part of the Elite is not good enough, so yeah I know how he feels, I love the base of the Elite, but really wanted a Formula rim for it. As far as the quick release goes, I'm sure there will be a mod for adding one on that you can quick release the wheel but still have to unplug a cable, (seems like someone would come up with that one anyways)

Still i have had a CSR for a couple of weeks and it's a great wheel.

Would recomment it to anyone who doesn't have the budget for the 'real' stuff.

Don't be down about it, you own a damn fine mid range wheel. (with improved shifters to boot).

Exactly. With the cost doubling for the Elite, I'm more than happy with my CSR. Longevity will be the key.

Oh...and trust me... I started out with Indycar Racing (many moons ago) and have used many wheels...the CSR is as "real" as any of 'em! :sly:

In short, its a microsoft thing. If fanatec could gave made on wheel (to rule them all) I am sure they would have.

My question to you is why the elite is not good enough?

First, it can't exchange rim wheel like clubsport wheel with quick release system, I love the BMW rim on the you tube demo, or even like T500rs with add on exchangeable F1 Ferrali wheel.

Second it's shifter is really cheap-like and ugly, if compared to Thrustermaster's TH8 RS. Fanatec really should develop a better, good-looking and durable shifter.

Actually, if the clubsport wheel can support x box system, and with a better shifter, it will fully meet my requirements. I will order one immediately, adding F1 and BMW wheel. I think there will be so many racing fans like me thinking that.

The CSR Elite rim is swappable, just by removing a set screw or two. Fanatec have not formally announced replacement rims, but they are in planning. Thomas demoed this in an ISR preview on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VicX8dROHYE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Secondly, Fanatec are working on a ClubSport Shifter, but we may not see it until Spring or Summer 2012. They're focusing on the CSW first.

The CSR Shifter will tide me over until then. It actually works pretty well.

The Elite supports swappable wheel rims via slow release a bit similar to the T500 RS via screws. It doesn't have any known rims yet, but there are some rumors about having rims like on the CSW but with the same buttons as the standard Elite wheel and no led rev counter probably.

Fanatec is developing a ClubSport shifter and handbrake which will be on par with the TH8 RS or better. Plus you can hook them up to the CSR Elite wheel. You'll need the CSR Elite pedals or ClubSport pedals for handbrake support as far as I known since the connector is on the PCB.

Again don't expect miracles on the CSW getting Xbox support. It's due to licensing regulations for making it Xbox compatible. Hence the fact they made an Elite.

For me it will be the T500RS (it's newish) along with its splendid shifter. After almost 4 years of the G25 (and since driving game is all I play, it's paid dividend) I think it justifies a new wheel. The CSW looks nice but the hassle of buying a Fanatec- I like walking into a store with cash in hand and walking out with the product (and hopefully the whole process would take less than 5 minutes)- is a bit too much.

CSW for me all the way. The quick release is enough reason alone (due to the size of my cockpit). I like my CSR, but I want something that feels more like a real wheel (size and material). Very very excited for the CSW, can't wait to hand over my money. :)

It's like I'm really looking at a Fanatec advertisement...

Who else has just released a wheel or has one upcoming in the next few months? The whole list is Fanatec, but if you don't like the choices, ignore it.

I sincerely hope that Logitech comes out with a G29? soon to compete with the CSR and maybe something higher end to compete with the CSW. But as of right now, the only wheels in the pipeline are from Fanatec.

You'd think with some comments the CSRE rim was poor or bad, or to even assume the T500 rubber rim is better. I know which one I prefer.

It will be CSW for me with BMW rim. Elite would be ok, if the rim was more to my liking. I have to consider still the elite as Forza is now patched to support 900 degrees of fanatec.

Fanatec Clubsport Wheel all the way. Soon as it is available for pre-order, Im in with the BMW or other 350cm+ rim.

And Clubsport shifter/handbrake soon as available (already have Clubsport pedals)

This is a mixed bag here. The shifter was not available for the T500rs when it came out, just like the CSS is not available for the elite and CSW. The CSR shifters are not the right product to be comparing against as they are a less than 1/2 the cost. The CSS is also delayed like the Thrustmaster product was.

The T500rs has a Ferrari F1 wheel that has a long change / mounting process. If that is fine with you the much simpler Elite should be a fantastic upgrade (from the video I saw).

I'm curious as to what people may have read or seen that may give them reasons to doubt the CSR-Elite.

Yeah but that is absolutely not happening so you have to choose between the CSW or CSR-E. Trust me I've had the same dilemma as well. But decided upon the csr-e for the xbox ability (besides I already have a T500rs so I will eventually just toss an f1 rim on it and maybe an SLI for rev limiter).

Looks like I'll be getting the th8 eventually to use with the csr-e & t500rs. That CSS is taking way too long. I'm not waiting past January/early Feb. I already waited too long for the TH8

350mm not cm LOL

Actually, I don't like the process of changing the F1 rim of Thrustmaster, but I have no choice. So if the Fanatec products can improve this shorting, that would be better. I appreciate the quick release system of Fanantec very much, I don't understand why the CSR elite would like to choose another alternative rather than using the original quick release system of the CSW. Doesn't it better? Using another way doesn't increase costs and make the producing process more complex? Or just for making some differentiation of different level products?
