Maybe Thomas can come up with an adjustable lock upgrade, so you don't have to take apart the wheel each time but still can adjust it physically.

Not correct, read Thomas his post again. Only as of recently with Forza 4 MS has changed their support for wheels only recently. Providing support for 900 degree steering, H-shifters, clutch and progressive handbrakes.
So as I see it since Forza 4 had to be updated to support 900 degree wheel rotation, so will older games have to be if the companies can still be bothered by it. This is the same for the other added features as well like the H-shifter support.

Thomas could of course talk to Codemasters but if they are willing to release updates for older games, I doubt it since even Dirt 3 support got dropped including new DLC releases when F1 2011 was released.

You can read it yourself. They added support for 900, handbrake, and clutch. 6 speed was however already in the spec just not implemented because a wheel with support for it did not exist.

Csr elite seems to be.the most popular..

Down.to price or.compatibility?

I would throw some salt on this figure since this site focuses on consoles.

Then again consoles is a larger market in general. But this is only a niche of that market. Tough call.

There are lots of PC sim racers that use G25s and G27s, I was using G27 myself and it was a very good wheel. Now I expect my CSR Elite to arrive and it is supposed to beat G27 in every aspect however it all depends on what you expect from a wheel.

Comparing CSRE and CSW is an even tougher task as they both use roughly the same base and share some features. Quick release and more buttons for me are the only advantages of CSW but those who will get CSRE will have an advantage of playing (having fun) with FM4 which btw has the best sound in sim racing I've ever heard so it comes to a personal preference.

Lets put it this way, if you compared DFGT - G27 and looked at the gap, in build & performance then Id say you have to go further again from the G27 for CSRE. Or am I just teasing?

Why is it that the CSRE seems to be branded as mainly for console owners and PC fans just have to go for the CSW? If the CSW had never of been shown, people would be raving about the CSRE as it is with the new chassis, dual motors etc.

CSW on the other hand looks totally awesome but I dont think many will need or care for all its functionality over having X360 support, well on one hand you have a feature many already had in the previous GT2/PWTS but lots of new features/functionality they never had before coming for the CSW which they might be able to live without.

I think current adjustable software lock of fanatec wheels works fine.

I think so as well. I was just thinking out loud for the sake of others who do seem to want to take apart their wheel to replace the lock.
I am fine with 900 degrees personally. With the T500 RS I never used the full 1080 degrees. I wonder I there are even cars that have steering wheels as such.

Come on Logiforce, their isnt a chance in hell that Fanatec will allow a feature were owners have to dismantle the wheel to get into it for changing something. 900 will be the max unless he has changed wheels to the Beta.

Thrustmaster played the numbers game in promoting the T500RS. As you know you cannot manually change the wheel rotation for the T500RS on consoles. Yet I do like the way GT5 sets the wheel rotation for different cars.

However can you or anyone here give me a list of which cars in GT5 use 1080 degrees?
I cant get any information on that unless somebody has tested them?

I wouldn't want 900 degrees on a racing game tbh... I don't think I use that much on GT5 unless I spin and have to turn around :s

Dosent happen often :sly:

As I said earlier as well, it could be via a 3rd party. Like the extensive G25/27 mods out there to enhance the FFB power for example which require soldering.
I find it strange that you say that Fanatec won't do this, since they send out spare parts for you to change when something is broken (like AGP having to replace his code wheel) as well as requiring you to dismantle the ClubSport pedals to make use of the tuning kit. So it's not like it's completely out of the question either. You shouldn't be so pessimistic, although I agree the chances are of course very slim of it happening.

Thrustmaster as well as a lot of other companies play number games, discredit competitor games on fora and so on. Big companies will do anything to fill their pockets, instead of providing honest products and services. As a marketing man you should know this very well. I personally choose the T500 RS at the time as it was the best wheel I could buy in terms of FFB effects (strength and speed) and accuracy. It's not like I pay much attention to numbers, hence I like to see or read honest reviews before I buy anything. Or even better try the product myself.

For as far as I know there aren't any 1080 degree cars in GT5. At least I have always witnessed a 900 degree torque lock until now. I can't give you a list though. Maybe I should go and try out the cars I have and compile one, although it will be a pain to do so as it is tedious going through 300 to 400 cars one by one by myself.

Let's be real here.. GT5 is the.biggest numbers game of all. Look at the amount of stupid little Nissans!

There are some silly cars in there indeed.

I wish the Lancia Delta HPE HF 2.0 16v Turbo or a Lancia Thema 8.32 (with Ferrari engine)... or a Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 Turbo (with Delta Integrale technology). Or some special cars like those that aren't well known.

I know what u mean top gear did a feature!

Do you remember which episode that was by chance? Missed a lot of top gear here as I don't watch TV much, so I keep forgetting it when its broadcasted here in the Netherlands.

Actually it's due to Technical restrictions. The Xbox does not support hot swap during the game. Just watch the video below from 3:10 and on.

Quick release and hot plug are 2 different things. The quick release system could have been used without any issues. Other than creating another difference, there was no reason to switch the CSRE to more of a manual process.

Unless dictated by the licensing agreement for 360 compatibility of course.
Does anyone have a copy of the requirements, cause we might find answers there?

@amf7 thanks, gonna watch it after tea/dinner.

OK...

Fanatec CSR E is still the most popular..

i expected on a ps3 forum the csw to be more popular.

There are a lot of Americans on here and they first bought a 360 most of the time while in Europe we went with the PS3 instead at launch. I still remember that all my American friends had just a 360 a couple of years ago at least. Anyhow, I reckon having both systems is the reason for most to choose the Elite instead of the CSW.
