Software Update v1.01 pops out... **UPDATE**

So apparently post patch the game needs 8gb to install. Not sure if thats on top of the original install.

My install is now : 6 763 MB
Against 6300-6400 this afternoon.

As I already had my 6.4 GB installed, this approx. 300MB update took 5minutes to install.

Did it ask you to install the game again when it started after the patch?

Ha! You can have false starts in online races. That owns.

Really? I hope you arent kidding coz that would be awesome haha just another element of real driving sims :P

If its true i wonder what kind of penalty you get... hope it isnt an instant DQ though =[

Hopefully a patch will add brake upgrades.

I dont want to have to run around the circuit with stock brakes.. I wont be able to slow down :(

You do know that the brake upgrades were basically useless in GT4. There was extensive testing done, and the brake upgrade did little to nothing to help the car slow down.

that just means GT4 was unrealistic. Ask anybody that tracks their car, breaks (at least pads) are one of the first things they want to upgrade.

I also would like to know, Maybe they are for historically significant cars to unlock or something, That would be jolly fantastic

That would be! Wasn't it that feature that gives some histroy on the car? I remeber hearing something like that a while back. It would be cool if it showed historic footage of the car in is hay-day too. :D

Someone on another forum was mentioning that it is basically for content that Polyphony will be adding over time in the online community. Right now its just pictures of cars. Extras basically.

No I said it would be bad business if they put out a patch on release day that addresses missing/broken functionality as advertised for the game... if it's just online related, no issue as that doesn't leave anyone in the cold for not having broadband.

Nice try though!
I think someone should get a sense of humor for Christmas. ;)

A difference was always noticeable when upgrading brakes. Maybe it was not huge, but it always slowed the car stronger.

Personally, I think the patch is a good move. Fixing broken stuff always is.

Anyways, do you have to hook your PS3 up on the internet or could you download the patch manuallly and isntall it from an USB thumbdrive?
Cause right now, I'm using a mobile internet connection and it's always a pain in the rear to set my laptop up as a gateway for any console.

The good part about this update is that it is downloaded/installed like every other game. :) I will not suffer through GT5p updates ever again. You can't make me.

Have you got a link mate :), Sounds like car porn to me :P

Unless GT5 measures brake fade, there would be little-to-no benefit to upgrading the brakes in GT5 either. GT4 was unrealistic because it didn't measure brake fade. It was not unrealistic because the upgraded brakes didn't decrease stopping distances or whatever.

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but there is now a button in A-Spec races, called "Typical Opponents", it lists typical cars, there weight and power.

That shadow group has an interesting shape. I wonder if it's light coming through the opposite side's window, and for whatever reason is glitching through to the outside of that door.

Just realized, this will be the first (full) game in the series that a notorious "fiddler" like Kaz will actually be able to tinker with after release. Could be a good thing.
