Hello everyone, I'm new to the board so first post here.

I'm from Taiwan, and yes the game has been released in a few select stores around here. Most people have got the Asia Version (Chinese)



Regarding the resolution, as far as i know, 1080i is supported, but will only show during photo mode and during races. It will downgrade to 480 during menu's

It's important to know if the disc is a DVD9 or not because you can't copy a DVD9 to a PS2-harddisk so easily, a DVD5 is no problem though. And you need a new version of swap magic to play a DVD9 in your PS2.

The game being on a DVD9 can mean waiting for the localised version for a lot of users, that's why this is important.

It's pretty much saying that the quality difference between 1080i and 480p is minor. But 1080i and 480i is two totally different games, because the quality difference is night and day.

Nothing worth noting about Pro Logic II, just your basic surround effects, such as cars coming up from behind, and the gear shifting sounds.

Almost every japanese game is plenty of english terms in katakana form, which is not too difficult to learn in few days.

I have played every version of Gran Turismo since the second game back on PlayStation, in Japanese form and have never come across any problems. I don't speak a word of Japanese, and can only read a few words of Katakana (namely save, load, yes, no, controller, replay, exit cancel, etc).

It will be fine in Japanese form, and there will be loads of help on here and elsewhere if you get stuck.


Right now, I'd like to know more about the HDTV options. 1080i ingame sounds a bit much to be honest, as in a E3 IGN interview the producer said they couldn't even do 480p as the performance hit on the hardware was too great. Sounds interesting though!

Also, the packaging is of interest. The Japanese versions (early ones) of GT3 came with an extra book - I wonder if GT4 is the same? And the pic on the linnk on the first page here, it looks like the game comes in a outer box, like a cardboard sleeve too.
