To whomever has GT4 now and wants to check

- We've established the existance of Spyker, but are there any other Dutch manufacturers? Donkervoort maybe?

- Someone also said the Caterham Fireblade is in. Any other Caterhams?

- The Seat Ibiza Cupra that was mentioned, is it a regular Cupra or a Cupra R? And are there any other Seats or other Spanish manufacturers?

Oh well time to start speculating GT5...

Holiday 2008:sly:. They missed it the last two times. I get a feeling they're going to aim and hit the bullseye on the next go around. That gives me a good year and a half on GT4 and maybe another year and a half waiting for GT5. Hopefully Ill still be around for the next one.:indiff:

It's pretty much saying that the quality difference between 1080i and 480p is minor. But 1080i and 480i is two totally different games, because the quality difference is night and day.

Nothing worth noting about Pro Logic II, just your basic surround effects, such as cars coming up from behind, and the gear shifting sounds.

This sounds little bit "fishy" because the difference between 480i and 480p is only in frames per second (i - 25fps and p - 50 fps)...and no difference in quality.

And 1080i has much higher resolution so it should look better than 480i AND 480p ...

could sombody with the game list the BMWs that are in ? is the new 6 series in in any form (645ci ,M6) ? any old BMWs?

Thats not quite right. GT4, and any progressive scan videogame and DVD runs in the same frames-per-second whether its interlaced non-hdtv (ie 480i), or progressive scan (480p, 720p), or high def (1080i). GT4 runs at 60fps NTSC and 50fps PAL. When in progressive scan it is showing both of the fields at once instead of one at a time like in interlaced images, so you'll get a much smoother image. But the framerate is the same - it just looks smoother, cleaner, and sharper in 480p.

The difference between 480i and 480p isn't night and day, but it is nice. I recently played through US NTSC Metroid Prime 2 in 480p and it looks great. 1080i will look awesome though because of the resolution, but in fact 720p does generally look better (as its a progressive, much smoother, image) even with a slightly lower (but still very high resolution).

I'd imagine 480p would be the maximum you'll want to play GT4 in (if it in fact 1080i if for racing, not just menus), because running a PlayStation2 game at 1080 resolution will be an incredible hit on the hardware, and I would think a lot of effects and track detail will have to be removed to get in running in a frame.

Just to re ask what Live asked. What TVR's ad Marcos are there? Also the Jaguar XJ9R is in isn't it? Also what other Jags? Muchos appreciated ADBAN!

Well thats the thing isn't it. Until we have confirmation of someone driving a track in 1080i I refuse to believe its anything other than menus and Photo Mode. 720p might even be more of a hit to the hardware than 1080i due to the extra RAM it requires for both fields to be drawn.

And indeed, I know of no game on PlayStation2 that can run anything higher than 480p. To be honest I didn't think it could even do 1080i.

Well ... the official Japanese website says that there is 1080i in the game, so there must be some of it at some point. And several people have already confirmed that there is 1080i ingame, while the menus only are 480p or 480i. I understand that it's hard to believe, but I do believe it's in, and I'd also love to see it.

Surely its the other way around? 480i / 480p in-game, and anything upto 1080i in menus. That would make sense. Obviously I am calling no one a liar, and I myself saw the Japanese website information and thought it was amazing news.

I'd just like some more solid information on it.

I'm absolutely sure about this. At first I also wondered, but then again - why would you need 1080i menus when the game is "only" 480p/i? You want the high quality when you're driving, and not when you browse some menu.

If you want confirmation, search this thread for 1080i. There were some people confirming this fact.

Here are some statements:
aska0865
found a problem here:
GT4 does not support 1080i during the whole game, when you back to menu, title or map, the resolution will return to 480p/i, high solution only in gaming only.
some one already complain this will really damage their HDTV. :P
ADBAN
1080i is totaly true. You can choose normal, progressive(480p), Hivision(1080i) at option menu. Also Splender,Contrast,Shade(Tone), Darkness can change.

Regarding the resolution, as far as i know, 1080i is supported, but will only show during photo mode and during races. It will downgrade to 480 during menu's

I can understand it being hard to believe that gt4 supports 1080i. I mean, the game looks amazing already, most realistic looking racer I have ever seen and having high res settings can only make things more lovely for the game and all of this goodness brings this to my mind, did gt3 actually use up only 25% of the ps2's power or is that bs? I mean, so much goodness is in the game.

Oy... seems like the people who 'have the game' aren't much more forthcoming with information than Sony is; it makes me consider the possibility that these people really don't have it after all. It shouldn't be too hard to go into the Simulation Mode and have a look through the different companies' 'dealerships'. If it's anything like previous GT's you should be able get a list of the majority of the cars in the game.

Why not wait until the 28th? Well, we have no true confirmation that Sony will release a definitive car list then and besides, why not do it now? You do have the game, right?? ;)

Or atleast the ones he can find amongst all the crap in this thread.

1080i is a load of crap obviously, as is the 25% thing. Still eh, can't wait XD
code, alot of people with the game suggest 1080i ingame so it's not a load of crap. Pd is crazy, seriously, 1080i, 60fps, damn I'm gonna go crazy. Is it true hdtv's arent sold in euro?

Hmmm but seriously, 1080 is abit...ridiculous. Hell if they ACTUALLY did that in true 1080i, my hats off to PD. I still think it's BS though.

You can get HDTV in Europe, its just not very common. You can buy the same LCD projectors etc that you can in Japan or North America, but CRT HDTV is behind. TVs like Plasmas and LCDs will run HDTV resolutions, though.

Infact I'm POSITIVE that the 1080i thing is pure PURE crap, the fill rate alone would make the PS2 a-splode. Infact can you actually name ANY ps2 games that run at 1080i? As far as I know there are a few xbox ones that do....I think.
