Not the same because you're comparing a car with a factory in game exhaust (possibly) and a real life car with open headers. I get where you're coming from but the comparison is bad.
The open headers is all motor. That's what the actual engine sounds like when you take away all sound tampering mufflers and cats give.

Be it good or bad news, please, just give the final blow Kaz. Put an end to our expectations and suffering :ouch:

Imagine the Senna 97T sound along with pops, burbles, bangs, a louder turbo spool and louder blow off sound, heck even compressor surge would be quite heavy.

Hitting the rev limit and hearing the pops and bangs, letting off the throttle and hearing burbles and pops with the pneumatics going off.

Rally Cars would benefit from the same as well. Dat wastegate chatter doh

Remember in GT4 when the backfires happened upon downshift at a certain RPM? I remember being able to hear that sound

I don't care about the course maker or livery editor.
As a petrol head i like the passion with cars.
Take the Alfa 8C. It's the whole package (looks and sound) that make this car that special.
You look at it and you are fascinated by it's curves. Then you hear the V8 and....goosebumps.
GT should bring that feeling as good as possible to the players.

Also the sound of the motorsport cars should be more intense (btw an appropriate louder sound than a Golf GTI).
If you drive a Pagani Zonda R you should fear it.

Apart from the BMW's sounding terrible one of the worst sound experiences for me in GT5/6 has got to be the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG R230, other than the diabolical engine sound there is virtually no engine sound when changing down.

Dear PD, this is how a rally car should sound. MENACING! With every pop , bang and turbo spool should inspire me to drive faster and leave drool all over my controller

Can we get dose too?

But not only does Kaz not have all the time in the world to spend on these questions, what do you expect him to say? /quote]
Simple.

"We realize after all the feedback the last few years how important the sound package is for our fans. We tried to get the sound update done on the PS3, but simply can't fit it into it's archaic architecture. We will have a new sound update ready for the launch of the next version of the game."

End of discussion.

Exactly. A proper, up to date status on sounds is what we want. Not another fluff "Maybe, might, perhaps" comment. If we already had a concrete answer on the sounds we wouldn't still be asking.
This is SO true.

No more Maybe, its possible, future update, laughs, techincally, blah blah blah answers Kaz.

Well, I'm sure Kaz is going to lay out his audio codec and sound reproduction roadmap for you.

What exactly do you have against this question being asked/answered? Because you think the sounds are fine ahd everyone else is lying about their opinion?

People want an update on the sounds and it is the most popular question. Deal with it and stop moaning and grouching because you don't care yourself.

Well, while I'm kidding around - a bit, I'm really curious why you people insist on throwing this at Kaz so hard.

As I posted before, this subject has been pounded to dust. And as I joked about above - for that matter, what I posted in plain english, is that you aren't going to ask anything new, or to get an answer with much substance in it. So the almost religious fervor in this thread I think is a bit much.

I will have to say though that when it comes to certain subjects, like car sounds and Standards, emotions take over and shoot common sense right out the window and past the moon.

Because sound is one of the cornerstones of immersion in any racing/driving game for most people. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

A bit much for you, not for the huge number of people that consider sounds important.

So we can't have any emotions when discussing the game? I thought this game was fueled by passion for motorsports and cars in general. With passion comes emotion. Deal with it.

I have a feeling that the emotions aren't going to be too pleasant, with a lot of you setting yourselves up to be frustrated by the answers, almost as if you're doing it on purpose...

I think what Tenacious D is trying to say is look vote for your sounds, well and good, but there's other aspects of the game that must be asked. Sounds aren't the only thing, hence why we have other senses.

I agree with Tenacious though. People are too focused on that subject, we've covered what we want and it's just beating too much on a dead horse for it to come back alive.

While I want better sounds too, I'll get my sounds, drool and enjoy and then after that, now what ?

Well, of course there is more to wish.
The problem is that there shouldn't be a thread like this in the GT6 Channel because this is a problem for years (@predecessors).
There are so many votes/likes because for a real driving simulator it should be obvious to have appropriate motor sounds.

Maybe it's just me but this is the most important thing on the to do list.
There is no joy when i drive a Lambo with sticker on a selfmade track with a horrible sound.

This (!) is what everybody likes about a sportscar.
The package like i explained yesterday.

Sorry but this makes no sense. Sound is one of the cornerstones of immersion along with graphics and physics. When a car doesn't sound like a real car it breaks the immersion. When a GT-R takes a real life 80mph corner at 150mph it breaks immersion. For some people that's what they want, and they play Need for Speed or some other arcade game. GT is supposed to be a "simulator" it says so on the box. The car sound package is woefully inadequate...for a last gen game, intolerable for the PS4. Have you heard what other games coming to PS4 are doing with sound? Drive Club? Project Cars?

So what you're saying is you already know Kaz won't give a new, detailed answer so we shouldn't bother asking? With logic like that this forum would be empty.

If we don't ask, we've no hope of getting an update.

Also, lol that you say common sense goes out the window with standards when common sense would be exactly what you don't want, getting rid of PS2 assets in a PS4 game.

Nice sign. What you get for hotlinking. ;)

Well, it's not just that. It's the whole weird belief that...

"If we ask about car sounds this time, and Kaz sees our question this time, and it really hits him this time that we really want to know about sounds, maybe he'll really give us a straight, detailed answer this time."

I mean... seriously, as if he isn't asked about this the first or second question in YEARS of interviews. Or he forgot. Or whatever. ;)

But seriously, that some people think sounds are the most important aspect of a racing game is just bizarre to me. Like... you guys aren't playing Shift why? ;) Besides, there's the whole matter that PD are locked in a cold war with Microsoft. Before they got into it, Kaz was more open about what was going on with Gran Turismo. This is what happens when a megacorp monopoly starts invading turf. Apple is secretive, Polyphony is secretive...

I can guarantee, if the only thing that gets added to GT6 are new, better car sounds, there is going to be a huge uproar here on GT Planet and on boards across the netverse. Because, news flash, there are several hundred question threads about a whole plethora of topics because a good racing game involves a LOT more stuff than just loud vroom vroom noises. Sure, it's a significant thing, but all things in proper measure and perspective, guys, just saying.

Also, lol that you say common sense goes out the window with standards when common sense would be exactly what you don't want, getting rid of PS2 assets in a PS4 game.
Well, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the option of an install, which is entirely your choice, in the first title on PS4. I don't think it's all that reasonable that your only response is

NO! :P

But, I've had my say and it seems that there is no room for discussion on this subject and the divide is impassible. Besides, whatever happens, happens.

Oh by the way
If we don't ask, we've no hope of getting an update.
GT5 Spec II is standing on your toes right now...

Yes, because that's all I said. I didn't back up my opinion with anything further than 'no'.
