Space In General

We need some old geezer coming into this thread, making all of us feel young again. :P

Next year comet 2012 S1 might outshine the moon.

^^^comet posted above seems interesting...do you think that it could be the same comet from 1680 making another pass by?

There is a project going on where a bunch of radio telescopes are combined to look at Sagittarius A, but I am unable to find anything about it, probably due to my lack of searching skills. Anybody know what I am talking about, and could you point me in the direction?

Blue Bell Goes to Space Again.

This is A 12th Century Fox Update:

For the second time in a span of four years, Blue Bell Ice Cream has reached the International Space Station, this time via the SpaceX Dragon capsule. The flavor of the day, individual sundae cups.

Why the cups? Because according to the astronauts, the cups are easy to grip in the tight quarters of the Space Station.

The Blue Bell creamery opened in Brenham 105 years ago. The company did not expand outside Texas until 1989 and has only reached as far west as Denver, north to Indianapolis and east to Raleigh-Durham in the past two years.

"We don't want to grow too quickly because we distribute all of our products ourselves," Bill Weiss says. "So, not only do we make our own ice cream, we also put it on Blue Bell trucks and Blue Bell employees take it into the stores."

Even though Blue Bell reaches only a quarter of the American population, the company has gone to space before. In 2006, a shuttle crew took another a shipment of individual cups into space. This time, Weiss says the astronauts brought a freezer on board the space station.

"It's really pretty cool," he adds. "It's really quite an honor they would think about Blue Bell."

Sorry, Goldilocks, not this time. Try Mama Bear's porridge next.

Something interesting you may have seen in the news recently , Gary Mckinnon , uk hacker who hacked into NASA , the US Army , US Navy , Department of Defense, and the US Air Force and found some .... shall we say very interesting things that we didn't know about space .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_McKinnon

http://www.openminds.tv/what-did-ufo-hacker-really-find/
The most shocking find to McKinnon, the one he thought would be his ace in the hole negotiating with the US government, was what he found hacking into the systems of US Space Command. McKinnon says he found a log that listed non-terrestrial officers. He doesn’t believe that these were aliens, but he believes this to be evidence that the US military has a secret battalion in space

There are rumors that he has talked about the names of two of the ships he saw on the transfer logs, the names of the ships being the USSS LeMay and the USSS Hillenkoetter. Typically Navy ship names just have two S’, an acronym for United States Ship, however there are three S’ here, presumably standing for United States Space Ship. The names of the ships are also significant

Seems that space might not be as quiet as you may think ....

With all the powerful telescopes that research labs and some private folk can afford, I'm pretty sure they would have stumbled across a "secret" base or ship floating out there.

The only use I see of this is fooling the Soviets into thinking we have space armies. Other than that, good laugh material though.👍:)

There does exist 'unexplained' footage / evidence that pops up now and then of various things in space . I recall an article posted by dotini in the aliens thread about a space beacon , but you'll have to take a look and see . It was an incredible read 👍

It's not the cold war anymore , why would the soviets give 2 monkeys in this current political and economical climate ?

I wouldn't be too sure about that to be honest . The USA we're trying to extradite him for a very long time , went to alot of trouble to do so , and want to nail him to the wall for whatever he's seen . They failed thankfully , and he will stand trial in the uk , deservedly so in my opinion .

How is this laugh material exactly ? Do you find criminal proceedings hilarious may I ask ?

Yes. Especially when it concerns as something as asinine as the US military maintaining a fleet. As far as I know each branch of the military maintains a satellite of some sort.

And I mentioned the Soviets because his evidence dates to around the 60s. The US did some wacky stuff back then. But having armed forces patrolling space?

What about non terrestrial listed servicemen ? Are they asinine also ?

Who knows what the military get up to , hence the existence of top secret clearance etc ..

Regardless , the facts of the case will be presented and heard . That's the main issue on the table .

Yes that can be asinine too. Barring underwater, but then again they would be sailors, no? But they are of Earth too...My head hurts.:ouch:

But the military does do some weird things from time to time.

Hey, I was a non-terrestrial member of the US armed forces. I spent most of my time aboard a destroyer looking for submarines.
