hmm... maybe 8 laps isn't a good number.

After practicing we're looking at 8:30 - 8:50 for lap times and the tires are roached after 3 hard ones. So for 8 laps we're looking at around 1h 15m total time and 2 stops for all but the super-brave. 6 would be closer to 55min, and only take one stop. I think at 8 laps there's also going to be a need for fuel.

Your description made want to do 10 laps... lol:)

Seriously, 1h 15min is ok... I was in a GTL league and we had 1hour races and 2 2h enduors in the season... It's fine. It's just not pushing like crazy all race long...

As for tyre strategy... The 'Ring demands respect... But does not tolerate the light hearted either... Will be interesting...

should get some practice in, the car is really fast and fun on the north loop... you have to brake for the jumps :embarrassed:
and you can tell you have a gas-mileage gear when the car hits 200mph (320kph) in 5th.

Just a reminder - last race of the season is tomorrow. I'll be trying to get a practice room later tonight. Can't give an actual time as of yet.

EDIT:
I may or may not sit this last race out and just spectate as race steward, simply because I haven't had the time I've needed to prepare this race, and the fact that even in practice the Green Hell is eating me for breakfast. I think the best lap time I've gotten so far is a 9:08 (with no errors - most laps at least one error), which is pretty far off from the 8:40's and 8:50's other people were posting in practice on Tuesday. Would rather you guys have a fantastic last race than have me in the way.

Not going to make todays race guys. I have some job hunting to do for my move to Texas, and then my brother and I are going to a baseball game. Have fun out there.

Well, that's a shame. We'll certainly try!

And Ruta, I highly doubt you'll be "getting the way". It is certainly a long track! But do what you feel is right. We'll certainly miss having more cars out there though. ^^

Even if you're not fast, getting some seat time is always a good thing.

Hey, just got a PM from Maniac. I'll be on in a minute. I think something got screwed up with the electronic clocks... My clock on my computer and cell phone says 3PM EDT right now. Seems like it's later in the rest of the world??

Yes it is..! And the 'Ring isn't just about going fast!

the phrase "To win, first you have to finish" goes to a whole new level here...;)

So get in, and just finish...

P.S. I might have screwed up as well in my time conversion mental maths... :ouch:

I was 90 kilometres away from my PS3 about 1 hour 5min ago... That's with the stupid little roads and high season traffic we've got these days... So the adrenaline may have been pumping still... I guess this could have been an EPIC PHAIL from me... Sorry...

Ok, room up. 1472-6118-3830-2476-5794 "Viper ACR-X Green Hell"

Well, I woke up this morning with my alarm clock saying 11am and my cell phone and computer saying 10am... So either I hit a wrong button on my alarm clock, or something funky is going on... haha.

By the way, I've been working on season 2: here's the banner for it.

Heavy damage on a track like this really isn't the best. :/

Hah, yeah... part way through I was wishing we had switched it to light damage. With heavy damage and real grip reduction, it turns into something more unforgiving than Demon's Souls.

yeah, trying to drive through a sinus infection was working out... ok... until my car got cracked and would just yaw back and forth. Just couldn't keep the concentration up, wheel on the grass... wall @ 150mph... game over. At least maniac and longbow looked like they had fun so it wasn't a total write off.

Yeah, Maniac and Longbow had an epic race. I'll be putting up the results and replay later. Right now I need food and have to go into work.

This was a great first season, everyone! I'm glad you all came out for it and enjoyed it. Season 2 will have more races and will be championship style. In fact, R1600Turbo has agreed to help design the series to become a Tier 2 racing series in the ORB League. In the meantime, I'll be involved in some spec-MINI racing; both EliteDreamer's series one Exorcet and I had talked about putting together based on the Mighty Minis series.

That's a good description of it, yeah. I didn't totally mind, although of course I ended up being ruined by it.

Yeah. Yawing back and forth is the worst. I ruined my car on the last lap when I wasn't concentrating at all, because I had already lost. I wrecked all 4 corners of the car and it wouldn't drive straight, couldn't even go over 110mph. It didn't matter though, I made a small error in judgement on the 7th lap, and into the wall - not even that hard (I was going maybe 90, and it was a glancing blow) - but it ruined...the motor I guess, somehow. But it ended it. I wish I could have taken no tires then after. But there wasn't that option. After our last pit stops, we were 5 seconds apart or so (he keeps saying 3.5 by The Carousel) , I was catching a tad. Until I crashed, o'course at the end of that 7th lap. But fun, still. I enjoyed the alternative strategies that we had. I didn't trust myself, so I ran a more conservative strategy. I also knew that at some points on fresher tires I would be quicker, I had hoped to make up the difference.

Also...I started in 3rd, so what were your qualifying laps? Mine was a 8:32.014 I think. I didn't think I could do much better without pushing too hard.

It started me in first, which is weird because my qualifying lap time wasn't even close to yours. I should have been started last. I think if you go out and make tuning adjustments, it resets your lap times.

That's just it...I didn't make any. I didn't even touch it. I found that strange, as I found myself behind people to start and lost some time because of it. Oh well, quirky.

I think I'll take some pictures of the race tomorrow: I'll try to make them good considering...it's what I do most on GTP.

Yeah, weird.

Anyway, I'd like to hear feedback on what you guys thought of this season, what can be improved for next season, anything special you'd like to see in next season (tracks, types of races, etc...), and any other suggestions you have would be appreciated as well.

One of the big things I want to say that can be improved is this:

When you open the room, allow some time for us to get into the room and have a bit of open practice, then reset the track at 4:00, and give us 15 minutes of qualifying. it was really confusing for the first race, when I came in expecting everything to start at 4, then all of a sudden I see "race starting in a minute," and I can't even get a flying lap in.

How I'd do it it, is to tell everybody in the OP "Room opens at 3:00, practice until 3:45, qualifying for 15 minutes, race starts at 4:00."

I'll have to be more clear in the future. In the race info, I had written, "Race starts at 4:00, room opens at 3:30." What I wanted it to mean was, "Be in the room at 3:30 to qualify. Race starts at 4:00." Next season I'll say exactly that.

It was the Green Hell in all its glory. Brutal and unforgiving. Definitely one way to end a series haha

Especially if that way is to end it in one of the most difficult ways possible. :P

Anyway, here are some of the shots I took of the race. I have more, but didn't show them all because I got carried away as it is. And I haven't shot the whole race...it needs a fast-forward button, really...
