I thought Heavy Damage was used to stop people from being reckless on lap 1.

Seriously. You don't ram into people and spin them into the grass after the first turn.

Mule, I've watched the replay twice dude. Didn't even touched you, you caught the grass and spun on your own and took me with you. Watch the replay before you start blaming other people for your mistakes.

That's not true, because my controller shook suddenly, and it doesn't do that when I touch the grass by myself. My car also doesn't suddenly break sideways by itself when I'm going in a straight line.

I also had someone behind me who saw the whole thing. The same person who said that you took his starting position on the grid during the parade lap.

Watch the replay. That's all I'm gonna say, and how can I take someone's spot when I'm on the back row? I started on the same spot the game put me on. Yet another reson for you to watch the replay.

Jav, you did take my place in the rolling start lap. When we floored it you were in fifth (5th) when you had qualified sixth (6th).

And you did push Mule out when you could have avoided that. It would mean mule would brake into T4 first but that's racing.

Full race report tomorrow...

P.S. I also have the replay.

You're under the implication that I was able to save the replay.

Ok, here we go!

Mule is in the Chrome car, I'm on the black car:

Now pay attention to Mule's rear left:

Close, but no contact.

4.jpg

No contact, no damage

Note, still no contact, no damage

Now look at his car, after trying to gather the car look at the left rear, damage!

Now, if someone should be bitching about being taken out on the first lap is me, but I do understand that there's accident and accept the fact that it can happen any time to anyone.

Now Maniac, you did a poor start when the green dropped(leaders cross the line) what did you want everyone to do? Wait for you?

It's ok Mule! Apology accepted.

;-)

In GT5 online, just because two cars don't appear to be literally touching each other in the replay, it doesn't mean that there was no contact made. I think it's clear in the pictures you've made that you squeezed me off the track.

Also, if I had gone off the track all by myself, my Front tires would have gone off first. Again, no evidence of that.

You're digging yourself deeper and deeper with every post, Jav. Trying to patronize me isn't going to help you.

OMG!! Dude really? You don't really know when to accept you're wrong right?
Ruta, I am sorry man but I'm here to have a good time not to deal with this crap. You really have something good going here but I think this is my cue to leave.
Mule, learn to recognize your own mistakes, deal with them and learn! I can tolerate being involved in some one elses accident but being blamed by it is a completely different thing and I will simply not stand it.

Exorcet and I are looking into the matter as race stewards. We will have a joint decision on the matter by tomorrow evening.

First of all, let's get the unpleasantries out of the way first...

Jav, on the parade lap you assumed 5th place when you had qualified in 6th. I couldn't go further forward than you as Exorcet was in front of me and I was not allowed to overtake him. For the same reason you were not allowed to overtake me...

The parade lap lasted, according to my replay, 3 minutes and 2 seconds (3:02).

This pic is were you take 5th, very far from the start/finish line at 2:46.
picture.php

And this is the race start at 3:02.
picture.php

At no point in between did you give up 5th as it easily proven by watching the replay and looking at the positions list on the top right hand corner of the screen. Which is what I was doing to make sure I was in the correct starting place.

Now as far as the insident with Mule is concerned. You did hit him entering the left hander of the T2-T3 chicane complex. Also easily proven by listening for the distinctive thump... That is before any pic you have posted. That caused him to drop a wheel on the grass and eventually lose control. It was all as a direct consequence of that contact.

And if you want to go at length about this. You also launched at the start, having obviously forgotten (!?) that we have a parade lap, and hit Exorcet. Fortunately that caused no damage to Exorcet's car. You also hit R1600turbo braking for T1 which could have also caused some damage. And immediatelly after you gave Mule a first hit, though be it a minor one...
My replay is at the disposal of anyone interested...

Race report

This was my first official online series in GT5 and as a member of the GTPlanet forums. I had done some practice and had a very good setup for the car. I had also done some testing to gauge tyre wear and fuel consumption. It all looked excellent so I was ready for the race.

However on a final test run I did a few hours before the race, I made a slight change to the setup which gave me a sharper turn in and a couple of tenths round the lap. On the qualy I couldn't get a run with which I would be satisfied and ended up clocking 1:46.32, far from my P.B. of 1:45.8 (single make race, tyre wear on)... That was good enough for 5th place on the grid...

The race started with a parade lap, which frankly could have gone better. My understanding is that on the parade lap you stay on the side of the road that your grid position is, and that the pack follows the leader or pace car in double file. That didn't happen and amongst all the comotion, I also gave Exorcet a minor bump... For which I apologise... Thankfully with no damage to either car...

Race start and I manage to go round T1 and T2-T3 with no incidents in 5th place. Jav and Mule had their moment in front of me which ment I was promoted to 3rd. Further misfortunes of my fellow drivers brought me to 2nd place 3sec behind R1600turbo who was frankly putting in some excellent laptimes. I kept pushing and managed to get the gap to 2.6 after a few laps (3 I think)... But the minor setup tweak, which had made my car sharper and easier to throw around, had increased my tyre wear considerably. And I wasn't quite ready for that. The reduced grip and mental stress of trying to work out whether I'd make it to the flag without a stop ment that mistakes started creeping in. The resulting sideways action ment the 2.6 gap kept growing. To the point of me being 15sec behind R1600turbo with something like 3 laps to go...

And then Sweet lady Luck smiled my way. R1600turbo and TnjF had a moment while they had a lap difference between them. That left R1600turbo with a badly broken car limping to the pits... I cruised past to claim 1st and did a couple of very smooth, easy and frankly slow laps to make sure my tyres wouldn't go on the banking with 280kph on the clock or under braking for T1... R1600turbo's pit stop meant I had a nice 35sec cushion, so I took the checquered flag with time to spare. All in all, a very good race for me... Bumpy start but...

All well that ends well...

In GT5 online, just because two cars don't appear to be literally touching each other in the replay, it doesn't mean that there was no contact made.

As a neutral who has interest in the series but has other commitments.

Decision on the on-track conflict between Mule and Jav

We're voting against Jav for these reasons:
-Overall, he seemed to be unnecessarily aggressive
-There was contact, and he was the trailing car. He had the inside line, but that doesn't give him the right to push the lead car off track.

We think that Jav should have stuck to the inside and let Mule keep his position.

As for punishment, while we didn't have any specific rules about overtaking, etc, we did link to the OLR, which everyone should have read. Included is:

D:
You are expected to drive responsibly in a way that’s not likely to ruin the racing enjoyment of your fellow drivers.

Which Jav violated by not giving Mule room.

Also

H:
The position of other drivers must always be respected.

I:
Aggressive driving is strictly prohibited.

05: Rules Governing Car Contact:

A:
Contacts and collisions must be avoided at all costs.

B:
Pushing other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is strictly prohibited.

C:
Leaning on other cars is strictly prohibited in any situation.

08: Corner Rights:

A:
When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.

B:
You must establish substantial overlap (we don't believe Jav had this) with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s turn-in point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you. At least the front of your car should be up to the driver’s position in the ahead car. The ahead driver has the right to be fully committed to the racing line of their choice without any interference if there was no substantial overlap before he turned in.

The OLR states that punishment is up to the race steward, though we should have possibly had a visible punishment outlined before hand. Because we did not, for this one offense only, Jav should not be too heavily punished. If he was still in the series, he should be defaulted to a last place grid position in race 2.

For future issues like this the punishment will be total or partial forfeit of points/placing earned at the end of the race. In the future, multiple offenses in the same race = DQ.

Decision on the place-taking issue pre-green flag between Jav and ManiacRS

We came to the conclusion that Jav was clearly at fault, as he was for also not remembering the parade lap in the first place. Not much can be defended there for Jav. For that, if he were to return to the series, he would have to serve a mandatory pit on lap 1 of the next race he takes participation.

Also, last but definitely not least, please remember to take this to PM with the race stewards before ever thinking of taking it public. Negativity in a thread reflects poorly on a race series and clutters up the thread with drama.

Indeed that is correct. I was not thinking 100% when I actually posted my last comment.

I'm sorry for that...

I'm partially at fault. Looking back at the replay I was kind of erratic in places, especially the back straight and the final banked turn. I tend to hang back until the very end of the parade lap to avoid cluttering and collision, but it didn't work so well this time I guess.

But the race went well for the most part. The car is a blast to drive and Daytona was it's usual self in turn 1 and the bus stop.

Who needs the replay(s)?

I was going to try and limp it home, but the damage was just too much. This would have been nothing but a lazy spin, but Dr_Watson was directly behind me when it happened and when my car started to come to a stop so we made contact. He was slightly faster on me having had new tires, so I was hoping he would pass me. I probably should have just let him by.

Oh well, what's done it done.

Thanks for letting me jump in this last night Ruta.

It was fun ,and look forward to the next one .

Glad you were able to make it. I enjoyed having you in the 20-lapper.

I'll be posting results later tonight and updating the OP for next Saturday's race.
OP Updated with results and next week's race. Tried to get splits the best I could. Thanks to Dr_Watson for getting a pic with the splits in them for Race 2

Guys, I'm sorry to be so padantic, but the car is 593PP with 641bhp. With 650 bhp it's 594PP...

Splitting hairs, I know... But might avert a few misunderstandings...

Thanks - I thought it was 593. I fixed the OP so it's correct now.

My Race Report from Saturday:

The first race, which was 15 laps, could have started off a lot better, as has been reflected from posts in the thread and involvement of Exorcet and I as race stewards. My personal involvement in the first race was almost non-existent as turn 1 chewed me up and spat me out once the track had warmed up there. I swore I spent more time limping to the pits in that race than anything else. It wasn't until about lap 8 that I had adapted and began putting down lap times close to what I qualified with (1:48's and 1:49's). By then, of course, the race was over for me. In the beginning, I did have a couple enjoyable sprints with Dr_Watson, and it was nice racing against him before I started spinning out again. :dunce:

The second race was much more enjoyable for me - the start went off a lot better, and we actually had a race on our hands. I had some enjoyable racing in the beginning with blown540ci (psn: fingersandthumbs) until I made a mistake rubbing the grass. Shortly after, though, I gained a spot on Exorcet as he pitted, and most of the rest of my race was focused on keeping that ground. It was really cool having a race where you're focused not just on time but also on keeping your tire wear down as much as possible. At one point, Mule dropped back and then came after my position, and we had some pretty good racing for a while. We did have a moment, but it was one of those things where I'd think there was just some confusion and neither was really at fault. We both went limping to the pits, then I caught grass going thru the pit lane in turn 1, which left me quite embarrassed. After that, I surrendered my place to Mule while I re-collected myself and tried to fend off Exorcet. Near the end, I made another mistake which Exorcet was able to capitalize on to capture 5th place from me. All in all, I really enjoyed race 2, and I'm looking forward to this Saturday, hoping to see more racing like in race 2.

Oh well, what's done it done.

I was a lap down due to my tire-in-the-dirt shenanagans on lap1 so I was just going to cruise behind you to the finish. Sorry about cracking into you and breaking both our cars. I saw you start to spin and began slowing as much as I could, then toward the end of the turn your car vanished in the smoke and didn't reappear until I was eating your door.

Race 2 went really well though. 👍

That's the second time I've been leading a race and had you reeling me in like a fisherman... it's quite unnerving. :P

Wow, man. those are some great pics.

Thanks. :)

I do cheat though, they have some minor post processing in Google Picasa before they look that good. Like that awesome harsh contrast in the pic where RT is passing me on the banking isn't possible without the sky washing out grey in the photo. So I put it back with a blue tint gradient.
I'm actually pretty impressed with Picasa. It's no photoshop, but if the pics your taking are 90%, it's really quick and easy to do simple post work to bring them up to 100. Photoshop on my desktop is getting dusty.

Oh and sorry in advance about the double post to the GT Planet forum nazi's. :guilty:

So... I thought I'd post a pic to liven things up... Grand Valley is a great track to look at, but, as I'm sure R1600Turbo will disagree, rubish to drive in...

LOL:)Hehe

Still... Driving a track you don't like always provide a certain type of challenge... And that, I do like...
