Spent most of the time I was in there trying to figure out how to set the car up, but once I found something usable, I immediately put down a 1:48 in a car with 0 miles on it.

Really fun to drive, but my rear tires were dying pretty quickly.

Something I was thinking about tonight when we did a practice race. Has anyone thought about doing a rolling start to avoid the standing start on the banking?

A good point. Maybe we can find someone willing to stick around to do a pace lap before the start.

Or we could do the lap without a pace car and just go green at a specific total time.

No, it's easier than that. Once the countdown is finished everyone rolls off slowly. The leader sets the pace, usually 50mph (when possible) and when we come back around to the start finish line, that's when the race starts.

Sorry i havent been around for practice ive been busy with another series. I broke mine in today and it was around 634 HP if that matters. Who should i add to do the practice rooms with?

48s is what i've been pushing out also. Did get a 47:8xx but I'm more consistent with 48s. My tires are opposite, my fronts drop first and fast.

That sounds like the better option, although the only concern I've had is confusion on when the rest of the pack start accelerating - when the leader crosses the start finish line, or when each person's car crosses the line. Heck, I'm still confused on that myself.

You can add me if you'd like.

Hitting 1:49's - finally able to enter the chicane properly after some camber adjustments.

Final specs for Saturday: 640hp/1470kg/592pp

I hit a 1:45.9xx last night. Mainly running mid to high 46's.

The leader decides when to go. It can either be at the line, or just before it. Once he starts accelerating, then everyone else is clear to go. Here's an example video I made last week from the GT4 Cup series:

Room is up. I'm only hosting for now - will be around later.

1472-6118-4216-8214-8764 titled, "GTP ViperACR Practice"

Room closed. I'll probably be on tomorrow evening doing some last minute practice and testing with EchoInTheSoul. Otherwise, see you all Saturday.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, let's do rolling start on Saturday. By the way, I noticed most people aren't using mics, but I have no problems with people using mics on Saturday.

[*]Weight Reductions: Stage1(/Stage2) weight reduction + Windshield weight reduction allowed, with ballast to bring up to at least 1468kg. (See comments under Minimum Weight)

[*]Minimum Weight: 1470kg (Weight arrived at by converting the ACR'08 to ACR-X'10 via weight reduction, then bringing up to ACR-X stock weight of 1478kg via ballast, then doing window weight reduction+2kg to get to 1470kg. This gets us as close as we can to ACR-X specs.)

so is the target weight 1468 or 1470?

BTW guys, if we are to do a rolling start we need a signal to start on... Because people in the back might not notice the leaders are flooring it in time, which could result in time lost for them... A guy with a mic giving the signal or a chat comment...

In a real life race the green light, in a rolling start, is given when the clerk of the course is satisfied that all the cars are in their qualified positions, and the pack is a certain distance from the starting line...

And rolling starts are used when the field has got too many cars in it for a safe standing start... Like the N24h, or the 12h of Sebring...

I don't think we have that problem. Also, if you attempt a standing start at Daytone RC with the ACR Viper on RH tyres, you will find that it doesn't swing it's tail like other cars do... If you don't start it at full revs you don't even get wheelspin!!!

I will do a rolling start. I just don't think it's the optimal solution here. But if you want it no problem...

P.S. I just thought that, reaching the first corner of Daytona Road Course in a tight pack, at speed and trying to brake and turn in for it and the next chicane... Maybe we should do a standing start and keep the speeds, for T1 lap1, down a bit...

I don't understand why it's so complicated? I just don't like standing starts at Daytona on the banking. I'll do it if I get out voted, but I think we should do a rolling start. What does the real Spec Viper series do?

Guys I wanted to ask, has it been considered using any type of exhaust other than the stock one? What about transmission?

I think they are trying to stay as close to the real Spec Viper ACR's as possible. Honestly the stock exhaust is fine, probably sounds the best anyway.

So I've fully broken in the car, and it's sitting at 650 hp, 601 ft-lbs of torque, and 594 pp.

Gotcha! Is just that the gear ratios are simply stupid on this car.

A couple of questions:

1. It says the HP cap is at 640. My car, which is built to spec is at 650. I really don't think it's fair that I have to power limit it because I took the time to break my car in. If you insist that you have a number around 640, taking the Air Filter off leaves it with 637.

2. Are we allowed to install a carbon hood, and then add the weight back with more ballast? The reason I ask is purely because I think the 3rd/4th gen Viper is one of the few cars in the game where a bare carbon hood actually looks cool on it.

Also, I got down a a 1:46.113. Would have been in the 1:45's, but I messed up the chicane. I was on slightly worn tires, too.

What, am I too close to you, Mr. GT Academy finalist with a wheel?

(it's the HP that made all the difference)

Not that really, just seeing how much time you picked up with the extra power makes me wonder. :sly:

1:44.810 ;)

Really have to baby the car through all the slow corners, and braking for turn 1 is simply awful.

1. The HP Cap is at 640 because that's what the stock ACR-X's bhp is listed at. Sorry, but everyone's breaking their cars in, and we're capping it to the spec of the ACR-X.

2. The actual series specs prohibit modification of the hood. That's something we'd have to test on. Honestly, since we're already using a ballast and weight reductions, the carbon hood should only be cosmetic. Would you mind if we tested it for next week since it's so late now?

R1600 Turbo, the real-life series does rolling starts. Honestly, I'd rather we do a rolling start at Daytona anyway, just because I've seen too many cluster-you-know-what's on turn 1 from standing start.

Jav, we're using the stock exhaust on the car for this series, as per the Viper Cup specs in real life. In the real life series, the spec sheet says the transmission has to remain stock as well. I'll agree with you though - the gear ratios are a gripe I share.

FINALLY hitting 1:48.2 - I might have been able to really push it for a 1:47, but it's already 1AM here. See you all tomorrow!

If that's the case, you should remove the Air Filter from the spec. Otherwise, having a spec, and then power limiting the cars is just plain stupid, honestly. Personally, I say keep it at 650. It's a nice even number that suits the car perfectly.

I have no problem testing with the hood. The only difference I can think of is with ballast positioning, but the car is at 50/50 already., so I can't see it helping any.

Ok, we'll take it into consideration with the hp spec. We've tested up to 640bhp, and I understand your point with the air filter. I'll have to talk this over with Exorcet tomorrow. I think it might be too late to change it for the race tomorrow, but we can definitely look at it for the following week's race.

I just checked the Regulation settings, and the HP limit goes from 631 to 641 to 650 even. ;)

Yeah, don't worry. Turns out I was on Racing Softs. :(

On hards, I'm doing low-mid 47's, though, so I'm not worried.
