Speculation on GT Driver's Club

A "club" usually requires it's members to pay something. In this case the payment could be monetary, could be time, could be achievement.

I'll be very surprised if PS limits membership because of skill. However, I do think they'll limit membership based on time, or money.


OR...

This may be their way to announce a migration into a "reformatted" on-line environment.

I'm in a car club per say, doesn't necessary mean it'll cost money, it could be a club depending on the kinda of cars you like to drive, or you favor more than other, for example I'm in a German Car Club were everyone there are enthusiastic about the brand. Maybe the mean Car Club as in Car Manufacturer specific races, or car clubs with groups of people online who all battle without nations. Who knows many things it could mean

And the Chrome Line XJ13 for Europe, various Stealth Cars weirdness all over the place and that preorder bonus NASCAR for the States only. And, going back a while, the Nomad Diablo was available in the Japanese version of GT... 3 or 4, can't remember which.

Oh and the GT5 Prologue demo, Japanese only.

I doubt the Driver's Club would be region-restricted, it sounds like it'll operate the same way the Seasonal Events did, and I don't think SCEA, SCEE and SCEJ coordinated those, it was PD, so it wouldn't make sense to have different updates for different regions.

My guess is it will be like GT Academy with a smaller prizes and regional winners.

This wouldn't interest me because I am no where near good enough.

However, I hope its something cool like in-game clubs you can join. Or a totally different and challenging type of event like a one on one Lamborghini versus Ferrari against the AI.

I just checked the in game news and it says, Make sure you keep an eye out for Speical Events not included in the periodic updates! These will be notified separatley in our news section.
No mention of a drivers club here i aus, But i hope thats what it means

That's what i mean i don't think Aus and NZ get it, because all my friends in both countries as you have the same message as you posted.

In USA they get a specific message mentioning 'Gt driver club' and possibly other countries???

I am very interested in seeing what the Driver's Club will bring. I hope it isn't a something you have to buy from the playstation store. I would probably only buy that if it rewarded tons of cash, xp, or some ridiculously cool car. That is if they go that route of course. Maybe it's a new version of My Lounge or something?

I still hate GT for letting me buy a 12,5million dollar car and then finding out I cant use it on aspec of bspec, nor sell it.

Is this true? i cannot use a F1 on any race in A or B Spec. So that goes for Endurance as well? oh that is crap! what is the point in putting them in the game. Ferrari needs to come up with some online/seasonal races that enable these cars to be used.

My guess (or what I would like to see) is a GT Driver club where you pay a monthly fee using in game credits to get access to special events and online races etc. Prizes could be XP or in game credits or even gifting some of the harder to get cars or maybe even some DLC stuff that's not currently available. Also like to see some leadersboards and stats within the "club" as well, so you can gauge your performance against others.

I like your idea. I really wish we had better stat tracking. I want to know miles driven online, seperate A and B spec mileage, wins online, individual track mileage, etc. I want stats for everything.

Corvette, mustang, skylines), Countries, etc. We could join one or two clubs for each category but not every club. You could then have intra-club races and races between clubs. Rivalries can be formed and you could get some really equal races between cars and manufacturers.

We could then display unique badges for each club on our profile page, and maybe even place the badge or sticker on cars that fall into each club category.

That would be absolutely great. Or we could have a badly designed Club system with an emphasis on nissan with poor matchmaking, no new features with a menu system thought up by a four year old.

I'm sure they haven't forgotten, we will see though. I would like them to add more series races like the Ferrari F1 races. NASCAR, DTM, and SuperGT with them adding a couple tracks each week would be awesome.

I still don't know why they chose to use the FGT instead of the Ferrari F1s for that championship in the Extreme Series. I have waaaaay more fun driving the Ferrari than I did the FGT. Actually, it is pretty painful driving that thing compared to the Ferrari.
