When I think back to gt4 and its predecessors there was no online and the only mp I played was 1v1 splitscreen. We used to ram like hell, using every dirty trick in the book and it was very good fun.

Problem is we have people who take it seriously and people who are just in it to play a video game they bought and, since both types paid the same moolah, and even though you find the opposing viewpoint incomprehensible, who the hell are you to say what's right and wrong?

Online gaming is NEVER, I repeat NEVER taken seriously until you are in a private server scenario, with a group of people who have agreed on the ground rules and (usually) an independent referee.

Personally I'd be happier if, until the private servers come out, if they'd turn off all the penalties and at least level the playing field where tactical ramming and avoidance becomes another fun part of the game, just like in 1v1 splitscreen.

If you want a serious race all you have to do is download a TT ghost lap and try and beat it. Sure it'd be nice if you could go online and have a decent race against like minded people but, until it goes private, that just aint gonna happen. Why not quit bitching and whining and go have some fun?

SO far, about 10 people have been really bumping into me online. Yet I did not go and black list them. What goes around, comes around. Be patient for the Private room guys

Remember this guys...
Even though I'm no more than a monster - don't I, too, have the right to live?

So those racers wanna be that bump every single race, too bad for them since they are bad drivers. Besides new Patch to come out with Private rooms, so I don't think we all need to get pissed about bad drivers as much.

Because my, or many others' for that matter, idea of fun isn't the same as yours and at the moment there isn't much fun for us to be had in the online mode if drivers like Thuggles are around. Think of it this way. There's a guy named John who likes hitting random things with a baseball bat, he finds it great fun. One day he comes across you and hits you right in the face. Why are you bitching and whining, he was just having some fun?

Yes, it is a greatly overexaggerated example but it should get the point across.

My point is that the kind of fun you want doesn't exist (yet) you have to make do with what's available which is either demolition derby or timetrial.

Complaining to people who feel the same way is preaching to the choir - wont make a blind bit of difference.

And your idea of fun is no different to mine - I long for private rooms and proper racing too. I'm just a lot more flexible than you short-term

It might not make a bit of difference, but us complaining in vain still feels better after trying our hardest and having it all mean nothing because some skill-less noob decided it would be easier to hit me in the rear than learn to drive.

Did my complaining change the game? Not at all. But I do feel less drive to smash a Gran Turismo disc and vow not to buy the full version. Complaining about our complaining accomplishes even less.

Do you understand what site you are on ??
It's called GTPlanet.
Those of us that have signed up for THE GTP REGISTRY have already agreed on ground rules and a code of conduct whilst on-line.
Of course we take it seriously

Yea I hear ya. :) I tend to just rant out loud and invent knew and wonderful cusses involving the opponents mother, farm animals and kitchen utensils. My main bitch is hosts who quit when I'm 100yars away from a victory but what can you do? It just seems a shame that there's so much negative tone in here about what is one of the most anticipated games of this year.

I'm trying a bit of positive spin is all - cheer up grumpy face, private servers will be soon enough - see ya there

:D

Yeah I guess it's just frustration.
We wait so long to get this game on-line and then... well you know the rest ;)

On the up side there's different Pro events now and the release of GTAIV, should help to sort the wheat from the chaff :sly:

Well said mate 👍 Everyone has their own right to freedom of speech and this thread is the same as any other! you have a right to an opinion on the said matter at hand and if people differ in their opinions? ... well thats life!

I am totally against the rammers/shunters/blockers/quitters etc ... who spoil races, and I wont change my attitude on that as they piss me off royally, if someone doesn't like my opinion? then thats fair enough as I'm also not in agreement to their opinion that differs to mine on this matter. I am always willing to hear from the people for and against though 👍 ... too each their own I say ;)

So who's up for compiling Thuggles Greatest Hits then? ... Oh I see this might just be it through time :sly:

I think it might be a good idea if PD ran some no penalty/everything goes races. Maybe it might clean up the rest of the races a bit, give the delinquents somewhere to go. They could call it PP700 EXTREME! or something, that'd get their attention.

And I'll bet most people here would click on the odd one just for giggles :sly:

Oh this could be fun! The "Sideswiper" remix, or "Car, meet wall" were good. How about the "Rear end failure", or my personal favorite, "I hate you Sphinx" with the R. Kelly cameo?

I just can't seem to get around you man
I'll try to smash your car the best that I can
Oh I'm a lamer
LAMER!!
Lamer
LAMER!!

Or how about...

I believe I can drive
I believe I can beat this guy
I see him passing me around turn four
I turned my car and hit him in the doooo-ooo-ooooo-oooooooooor

Good effort Sphinx, must say i wasn't impressed to see the driving line turned on though:dopey:
Thuggles you really need to practise fella, i'd prob have packed my stuff and left the country by now if i was so obviously rubbish like yourself.

Hello guys. I've recently been made aware that sphinx is trying to get me blacklisted and has a video proving that i was driving like a c-unit on suzuka. Obviously i'm not going to deny what i did, i just want to let you know that Sphinx deserved everything her got and that i do not behave like that for fun. I don't like ruining people's games but if they make an attempt to ruin mine then i am willing to give up a podium finish to ensure they end up in the sand. I'm an official playstation community member and i enjoy clean races when on the rare occasions that i have the opportunity to. Plenty of people have added my PSN after epic, clean, neck and neck races and i'm happy about that. I know that a blacklist will have no effect on my gaming whatsoever, i just want to point out that sphinx deserved everything he got. He took me out many times before and during the heavily edited races he's posted so please just don't be so quick to point the finger in future. I'm racing 600pp suzuka mostly. Come and have a race with me.

You say there that the black list does not effrct you. Well I would like to tell you that it does because when I start my league on gt i will be looking on that list. As will most other people who run leagues. And anyone that is on it will not get in. As jase72 knows (not saying is is a bad driver but you know what i mean) as he has been in a league of mine before that I will only have clean drivers in my leagues.

What you did to sphinx was bang out of line and you know it. But looking at your name sees a lot "thug" i hope i do not ever have to race you.

In this case I will give Sphinx the benefit of doubt. However..However we don't quite know what happen in a previous races. Maybe Sphinx cut him off in some race last week and he was still bitter about it. lol Clear case of classic Johhny_Moron! Case Closed!

You're so kind to give me the benefit of the doubt. I mean, I've only proved myself every single time for the past 9 years in GT OLR (not a single dirty submission in all that time). I've also raced GT4 online for 3 years without a single blip to my name, that's a lot of racing, I can tell you. I'll even mention the BC's I've taken part in and won, but not because they gave me the benefit of the doubt, no, it was all on merit and fully deserved because they all know I'm a clean racer. You obviously don't know me very well.

Now I ask myself why does he want revenge unless sphinx provoked this is previous races!

Please read:
Here is the uncut version of the Thuggles video. This was my first encounter with him.

I obviously can't be 100% certain of that, but as far as I'm concerned, it's true.

Indeed because I have been run off the road many times just for simply trying to overtake. However the way thuggles approaches the last chicane on the 2nd lap is someone seriously annoyed and this is why I want to know from thuggles why he was annoyed at sphinx. It could be like you say that he was annoyed for being overtaken but I personally feel there is more to it than that.

There is more to it, you're obviously fishing for something that isn't there and attempting to put a spin on things because it was only last week or so I personally pulled you up for dirty driving.

Do you know why I record and screenshot many of my races? It's because I need to protect myself because I'm in the direct line of fire from all those who I catch cheating, and they can't wait to put me down for it, including you, it seems.

Man - That is sooooo embarrassing - Sphinx uses the racing line.. Bummer dude !.... ;-)

The racing line is always on. As you can see, I never use it, but it's on non the less. Maybe I like the colours. ;)

You got him good!
Thanks for video to back everything up and straighten things out.

When he said that Sphinx deserved everything he got, really makes no sence to me...
Sphinx is a SUPER MODERATOR, meaning he needs to be extra cautious online, because he knows a lot of people from the forums know him and respect him as well, and basically its his job to be a good decent driver, and so should we all be.

Exactly, NoxNoctis Umbra. 👍👍👍👍👍

He does, he posts often here and mentions that cut across in detail: http://community.eu.playstation.com...thread.id=33957&view=by_date_ascending&page=2

BUT from what little I know of the guy, he's never down and dirtied it before, could of just been having a bad night... /shrug
Wow, that is a thread of guys just trying to find ways to cheat and brag about it. We don't need a blacklist, we just have to track that thread.

There is no denying the driving in that video is truely shocking but I cannot help but ask myself what made thuggles drive like that.
Enter any of the beginner races and then when you are finished I expect you to question whether you ticked off 8 of the 16 drivers, because they would never drive like that for no reason, right?

Yes, people do, which is the point Sphinx was trying to make by calling Thuggles (is that like a thug that wants to cuddle?) out. He is pointing out that Thuggles does do it just because he obviously can't drive, uses others as brakes, and thinks he should cut Casio.

The videos posted only show thuggles trying to ram sphinx off the road but could it be that in previous races sphinx did the same to him which we haven't seen. This is why until I know the full facts I am keeping an open mind because from my conclusions of the video, this isn't a dirty racer but a seriously annoyed dirty racer who wants revenge on sphinx. Now I ask myself why does he want revenge unless sphinx provoked this is previous races!
As Sphinx already pointed out, he said it was his first run in with him. Also, those who have been around long enough trust Sphinx enough to let him judge clean OLR.

And on top of all that, even if Sphinx had done something to provoke him, it is not excusable. Revenge ramming is just as bad as ramming.

So, without any other knowledge I can safely say that Thuggles is not someone I want to be on a track with, because the best case scenario is that he is provoked into acting in a way to ruin more than one person's race. You will note that his cut across Casio nearly took out someone other than Sphinx.

Besides, that Casio move was not a revenge move, but a cheating corner cut move, and he brags about doing it in that other thread Maxil posted.

So, Sphinx, do you just set up your video camera every time you race? I knew some people were vain, but man. :sly:

Well I know I will. I just bought a new cable to do decent video capturing, and I'll leave the camera ready.

If I find this, on any other "driver" of the same kind, all I have to do is hit the rec button ;)

I'm looking froward to provide some more amusement to all...

I run the PS3 through the capture card on the PC and use the CRT monitor to race. Because the PC is so old I can't use full screen because the quality is so poor, I normally reduce the screen to about 7" max. :sly:

It would be nice if we could just save online replays.

Still this one bothers me? How the hell do you give such a good race when I'm using a 32" HD screen doubling over as my monitor and my PS3 screen and you do everything on a 7" screen?

Your gonna look like Mr Magoo soon mate ...

Crazy as it sounds .. It works! and its annoying :sly:

lol, yeah that could be the reason I suppose.

this screenshot is slightly larger that the screen I use:

I knew before I stated all this that I will get the odd accusation fly my way and this tool is essential for protecting myself from them. I just wouldn't be able to race otherwise.

The video capture card is how I used to play when I lived in my mom's basement during college summers.

So, do you have a You Tube channel setup with tons of these or just the ones you need to post? The edited one with the music was great.

I feel privileged with my screen...

Edit: it's the big one...
:dopey:

I'm always tempted by the projectors but the cost of the bulbs and the lifespan always gets reminded to me by the missus :indiff: Would be cool for occasional fun though! :)

Looks like a great set up there mate
