SRT TOMAHAWK VISION GT OT (Now available)

I've managed to get the Tomahawk X go at 735km/h (Need to re-check, but I'm sure it's 735), which is about 450mph

Must be cause i suck at tuning but my crappy Tomahawk X doesn't go any faster then 362 mph :( normal transmission (Track the X route)

Good thing it did beat the x2014 fan car in all the Vs i did between both :bowdown:

Haven't played GT6 in months, decided to give the Tomahawk X seasonal a go cause that thing is just so damn cool.

After nearly 2 hours, maybe 50+ restarts (I lost count), I placed 9th with a 3:53.642 with a DFGT.

I honestly don't really know why I even tried, but I just did. Maybe it was my obsession with the Ring, the adrenaline rush, or my absurd hidden desire of going 200 mph through turns with yaw force and reaching almost 400 mph on the straight. I went 25-50% on the section after Karussell though as it was practically impossible to push that thing to the limit (unless you're ferfer365bb). When I finally finished I felt my soul ascending through GT heaven, but only for a moment sadly. That lap was literally a blur.

Just wanted to share my strange experience with you all. This car is not for the faint of heart.

*twitches*

This car is gonna be the cause of many broken TVs, if only from people throwing stuff at them when they don't get a valid lap. I speak from experience

The X is probably the first VGT I'm not gonna bother trying to get through a seasonal, but as I have a thing for having all VGT cars, I will buy it.

The X event is not that hard to bronze. I silvered it at 4 AM, with a pad (used to DFGT for years and can barely go straight with a DS3) on the first lap by being overly careful. I'd say the car could do a 3:30 around there without much problems as long as you get used to it. Best times are going to drop under that.

I think that depends on, y'know, how good you are.

I'm not a good driver, so it's difficult for me. You are a good driver, so it's easy for you.

I won't say I'm an average driver, but I was tired, with the pad, and I really nearly stopped before each corner.

Really, take it easy, lift off for the high speed sections light turns, and save the speed mode for the last straight. It is basically a commute drive, except the car accelerates to 400+ kmh in a breath between corners and takes 100 meters to come to a complete stop. Don't look at the time, just stay on the road, it's more than enough ;)

This.

After numerous failed attempts at going fast, I drove to my limits, at about 70% of the cars capability. Managed a 4:3x:xx.

As others have said, Cruise for the bronze. Open it up briefly where you can, just coast around the corners.

Crazy motor.

It was 3 AM for me and I couldn't go any faster without crashing. I've crashed numerous times before, this thing doesn't like bumps, it starts gliding on them and losing grip.

Pretty much exactly what I did.

Including the few very close moments to going off.

That was quite intense for a D-pad user, but i end up liking more of this thing than i thought.

My favorite is the S version, handles way better than i thought and sounds great! That V10 made me giggle and turn up the volume.

Now, back to driving my AE86.

I was looking forward to the Race version of this car and it turned out to be some "RedBull like" car, I really don't like it. They look mean and everything but the handling is just boring and annoying to me.

Just took the gts-r around the Nordschleife in 4:35:xxx.

That's pushing reasonably hard, on racing softs, all aids off except abs.

Very fun car to throw around the nurburgring.

Whew! Just finished golding all 3. The S version took me one lap. The GTS-R took me 5 laps. The X boy oh boy I spent an hour crashing before finally decide to just stick it in 7th gear for the whole lap and cruise to a lazy 4.50.xxx  I don't want to break my wheel so I'll leave it at that. And oh, weirdly the brakes are too powerful in this thing (all 3 versions). It's impossible to drive with ABS off (weird because all that aero should help raise the locking threshold *shrugs*). Weirdly also the PP for GTS-R and X is lower than the Red Bulls although they are the same speed (or faster in X's case).

The S version feels like your normal VGT hopped up supercar. Handling is a bit weird and inconsistent at high speeds considering it doesn't have any active aero. I think it's because of the active camber system. It's an OK car 👍

My favourite is the GTS-R definitely 👍👍 It's on par with the Red Bulls, but in a different way. Whereas the Red Bull makes up its time in slow corners and consistency, the GTS-R gains time in braking and straights. It's smooth vs explosive. Initially I was having a lot of trouble because it would "understeer" in slow corners. At high speeds it has the same grip as the Red Bull, but at low speed (because it has no fan) it loses ALL of its downforce and becomes a normal race car basically. Once my brain learned to drive in two modes (high speed = Red Bull, low speed = normal car) it makes sense and the car is a HOOT to drive :D The Red Bull is still a LOT easier to be consistent though.

The X is just insane really  Now I'm a person who think the Red Bulls are nice to drive. But this thing is just totally undrivable. I'm pretty sure it would feel better on any other track, but I've only driven it at the Nurb seasonal and it's like riding a bucking bronco high on every drug imaginable  Explosive acceleration. Explosive braking. Twitchy high speed steering. Still understeery low speed steering. Does not like bumps at all. I'm just gonna limit it to 50% power and leave it at that. It's faster than the Red Bull in an alien's hands, but for the rest of us mortals the Red Bull wins by sheer drivability.

All in all, I love and hate this VGT triplet  It sits between the annoyingly difficult to drive Chapparal and the noob proof Red Bull. SRT is totally insane and thanks to Kaz for allowing all these possible technology what ifs into his game. I just hope that the manufacturers would stop one upping each other on their VGTs from now. I don't think anything faster than the SRT-X is of any use. Scary to imagine what Bertone, Lambo and Tesla can think of :scared:

Just looked at the options. R1 is the right paddle to shift up so that's a no go. R2 (The top red button on the right) is the nitro button, which is perplexing because I pressed that button who knows how many times and it didn't do a damn thing.

If you switch to outside view and press the button, you'll hear a wooshing sound (like spraying an air freshener can). If you hear that sound, the system is working (let off the throttle so you can hear it better). More obviously, you'll also see the wings retracting into the body.

Is the low drag stuff with the R1 button doable when having the Nos button set to O? Because i dont know how to do it :P

It's doable with any button you assign nitrous to. See my reply to RACECAR above to check if it works. Chances are it gives a speed boost but because this car is already insane in acceleration anyway it doesn't make much difference :P

No interior, woohoo !

Overused "argument", wohoo! How many times do people have to explain to others that as long as these cars do not have an open roof, they will not have a detailed interior? Could we have some constructive criticism instead, please? And perhaps you should direct that "complaint" of yours to PD rather than clog the thread with it, I'd reckon.

Driving the X is like trying to ride on a rocket tread with bicycle wheels and sitting a barbed wire seat. It's going to take a while to figure that beastie out. For PD to put it on the game's toughest track is proof they're sadists.

The other Tomahawks aren't as crazy, but I've realized that having the ultimate performance isn't the ultimate thrill.

I think the X makes the fan cars look mild in comparison. I do like the active aero and it looks great on the game, but in real life, the maintenance on that would be an absolute nightmare. If that failed at speed, you'd be in a world of heart.

I'm in the "undriveable" camp. With the stock tires, I find the X too unpredictable. I never know when it's going to grip and throw me off track or not grip and a I plow off the corner. I can't imagine how awful racing with this would be. In stock form, I can't imagine that anyone would use this anywhere other than Route X. I cut the power in half and threw SS tires on it and it's much better. It flies around Sierra nicely.

I like the S, but as with the X, I cut the power in half to get it down to 650 so I can compare it to other cars. I like the handling on this one the most.

The R is ok, but still not enjoyable to drive IMHO. I haven't tried SS tires on it yet and I suspect that will be the trick to make it better.

Overall, they're interesting, but stupid. The video has SRT guys going on about how authentic the driving feels in the game, then they went and made a car that feels like playing F zero.

As I was taking a look at the settings of each Tomahawk, I found something very interesting that very few (if not none) have mentioned; the suspension, brakes, LSD and even the transmission can have their settings changed. I found that quite surprising, as I thought that PD would just simply lock all settings and not allow the player to tweak anything. So you can setup each Tomahawk to your liking if you have some tuning knowledge...

My reaction when I saw that the Tomahawk X is available in black/green and black/yellow:

giphy.gif

I bought mine in black/red, because it's quite simply the Devil's car. :scared:

But seriously, my jaw dropped when I saw the number of colors that the X has. I was only expecting two colors, but instead the car has a full pallete of incredible color combinations. A very pleasant surprise, to be honest...
