SRT TOMAHAWK VISION GT OT (Now available)

My reaction when I saw that the Tomahawk X is available in black/green and black/yellow:

You can paint it and it keeps the coloured stripes too.

Just measured braking from 666 km/h to 0 km/h. I got an average braking force of 40 kN.

For comparison, that roughly 50% of the static takeoff thrust of a single engine of a Boeing 737, and roughly 17% of the braking force of the space shuttle with its drag chute deployed.

Update: Did the same test with the Bugatti Veyron (from 414 km/h) and got an average braking force of 26 kN.

The force of drag at 666 km/h for the SRT X car in low-drag mode (with "nitrous" button) is roughly 10.5 kN.

The force of drag at 553 km/h in "standard mode" (without "nitrous" button) is roughly 9 kN.
The projected drag at 666 km/h in "standard mode" is 13 kN.

Low-drag mode reduces the drag area of the car by 20 to 25 %.

Update 2: Did another brake test with the Tank Car (100 km/h), got 32 kN of braking force.

I bought mine in black/red, because it's quite simply the Devil's car. :scared:

But seriously, my jaw dropped when I saw the number of colors that the X has. I was only expecting two colors, but instead the car has a full pallete of incredible color combinations. A very pleasant surprise, to be honest...
True to that. I have to say, the black/red combo looks great too. But, since black/green is my favourite colour combo, and black/yellow are the colours of my favourite soccer club, those are the best of the lot. :sly:

Yep. Good that it keeps the accent clours, because I found the stock black a bit too bluish, so I painted it in a darker black (Black Raven).

Is the creator of this and the other thread allergic to the name "Tomahawk" or what? He hasn't included the name in the title in either thread.

So I just remembered something about the car having an Exhaust blown diffuser and so far from what I'm hearing, this seems only exclusive to the X and it only has its pops just before accelerating, kinda of like how the 2015 F1 cars have that droning noise before acceleration. I'm guessing this EBD works differently from what I was expecting.

In the rainy SSR7, the X2014 is slower by 13 seconds compared to the Tomahawk X. Oh, and I got the Tomahawk X in white because Angelus, the White Angel. (If you happen to paint it black or chose the carbon fiber prototype option, you got the 13th Devil, the Crinale).

I guess I'm running the 13th Devil then. :sly:

Because paint is overrated sometimes.

Goodness the Tomahawk X is too mental.... needs some getting used to before I can handle it nicely.

I like the other 2 specs though

After finally golding with the other 2, I'm now about to attempt it with the X.

Tomahawk S: Not so much hard as it is to have the confidence to push the hell out of it in the corners, Once you get past that, its not all that difficult.

Tomahawk GTS-R: Its like the Red Bull X2010 so if you've driven that abit, then this should have about the same amount of learning curve. The tricky bits are trying to time the Aero and Acceleration otherwise, prepare for mass quantities of Spin Cycle.

And now, I'm off to see the devil Drive the X... ah 🤬

Thanks!!

Here is a excerpt from the article;

- The SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo was engineered and developed to the same uncompromising standards as any SRT vehicle on the road today. SRT engineers also worked in their spare time and on weekends to create three extremely fast cars that test the limits of human physiology.

- “We had fun stretching our minds to create the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo for GT6. The game places a high emphasis on capturing reality in a virtual environment; our goal was to respect that philosophy by focusing on plausible future technologies that could achieve our vision of extreme performance,” said Mike Shinedling, Manager – Advanced Concepts, SRT Engineering, FCA US LLC.

These two quotes confirm to me two things.
  • Even if people try to discredit the work being done here with various snide remarks, the teams involved take this very serious.
  • There is a lot of fun going on there, and I ask; Who wouldn't want to be involved this project?

They look great and sound decent in that artificial GT way, but am I the only one that doesn't find them fun to drive? I just don't enjoy the OTT nature of them.

I know that when I have a quick blast after the Seasonals they will gather dust in my garage.

Vision Gran Turismo is a wonderful initiative and has given us some amazing machines but I prefer the more grounded and realistic offerings.

I liked the sound only in the replay.(in the "S" version)

Yeah but this is Gran Turismo, try to avoid as much as possible any common sense argument that strikes your mind or you won't enjoy the game.

True story. LOL

I agree. I really like the technical aspects of them, but they're not that fun to drive (well, the Nordschleife time trial is fun because it's so bonkers ). I think it's because in a non-hypercar, you can drive the car on the limit. In a car like the Tomahawk X, you're nowhere near the limit (unless you're extremely skilled) and instead it becomes obvious that the limitation is you.

That goes for all hypercars, in my opinion they're all silly. The engineering is impressive, but that's really all there is to it. I have more fun in my 49 BHP Fiat 500, although it only does 170 km/h (downhill!), because the challenge is to take what you've got and push it to the limits, in terms of driving and in terms of tuning.

This is probably a bad joke but based on what I've seen, this had to happen.

The Tomahawk X seasonal event is set in Nurburgring, I made a joke about setting a clean lap on Nurb with the Tomahawk X saying if you can set a clean lap around Nurburgring with the Tomahawk X , you're a real life vampire or can transform into a Pokemon. Kazunori Yamauchi sawed my joke about it? Kazunati confirmed! *Plays the X-Files theme.*

Thank God that the automobile manufacturers didn't share this opinion or the people who enjoy the VGT's (fans and professionals) would be missing out.

I love this car. It's fun, as every car should be. I didn't go for gold, or silver on any of these challenges. I got bronze with the Tomahawk X by going around the Nürburgring in 7th gear, never dropping down, and with a lot of assists. It took me a while, but I got it late last night. Had to go with the all carbon fiber variant. :D

I think I'll buy the one with the red windshield later and repaint it. I just need to think of a color for it. I know I'm not going to race this car very often, so it would be awesome if we could expand all of the wings whenever we wanted. That, and the engine sound at 7th gear are my only gripes with the car. I'm not upset by its speed and handling capabilities; I know that I am very rusty when it comes to driving. It's not the car's fault that I can't drive it.

Horrible horrible thing! I thought that Red Bulls are worst, but this....this is the worst :(

Game feels sped up with this thing...

CHEAT car mode i would say.
