As expected, a 4:40.032 for me should be achievable... just got to keep it on the grey bumpy stuff for all 12 miles.

Same here. I can't even tell you how many times I didn't even make it to the 2nd turn (the first right hand turn after the lap time begins). I would hit the curbing on the right side of the track at Turn 1 and my car would freak out and I would either spin or slam into the wall. I even rolled the car once...

EDIT: Look ma! No hands!!

The car is virtually uncontrollable. I am putting it down to a worn out Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel with a dead spot at the top the size of the Grand Canyon. I was thinking about a Fanatec wheel and pedals. Anyone have a recommendation on that? Thanks

But the reason you prefer the completely artificial DS3 is because the wheel isn't real enough???

That's crazy.

You misunderstand me. I started the Gran Turismo series with the controller, and on auto, and that's how it is to this day. It's a game, and until I can have a go at making it very close to reality, I don't see a need to change.

Of course, my standards are high, so it'll be a while, this is what I drive in real life...

I've always said that the refinement of the throttle input is where a wheel/pedal combo scores most highly. I'm still not convinced about the steering though, in a car like this that can be facing the wrong way at 200mph in the blink of an eye I don't feel that there is much time for refinement - maybe I just need to set FFB to zero.
I think that is where it is most equal, I don't feel that disadvantaged on throttle and braking with DS3, mainly steering.
Trust me, I'm familiar with the track ;) Was never sure how to adjust the wheel rotation on the T500RS, but like I say, I like keeping all the baseline settings the same. My 5:08 included 2 spins, so I know with a clean lap I'm well in, but I'm only getting that close to a 5 because I'm pushing as hard as I can, and I'm spinning because I'm pushing that hard.

Not too bothered about it. I've got the cars already, I just don't like the assumption that a wheel makes you faster, it's never really been the case for me.
I think a wheel will make a lot of people faster once they get used to it. Given how bad I am with DS3 on stock cars in GT6 compared to many on here, I can only imagine how fast some may be if they make the step to using a wheel :scared:.

Is that with a wheel?

Try pushing harder in the 1st part of the lap - it should be easiest to learn the limits of the car there as you'll probably have a lot of re-starts (i know I did!!!).

I can't remember my 2nd split, but I was 22.5 at T1 and 53.0 total elapsed at T3 (exit of Ardenauer Forst).

You can really attack T1 and T2... Flugplatz is flat in 5th gear, and Schwedenkruez is flat in 6th (no need to lift for either corner)... so you can go flat from the exit of Hoheneichen all the way to Armberg (without using DRS).

Good luck 👍

T500RS (Torque:8, Sens:6), MT, stock everything, no tune, only ABS:1, Bumpercam - same settings I use for pretty much everything.

I pretty much coast through Hatzenbach - my usual style is to muller the curbs which as you say, isn't viable in the X. And, I lift through Flugplatz and Schwedenkruez simply because at full chat I tend to catch a bit of green with a rear and end up in the barriers - as you said before precise turn in is key. I find the later sections easier because the curbs are more forgiving, so I follow my natural line more. You can see by the lack of green how inconsistent I am in this car.

I agree about the first part of the track, I was able to make it to aremburg in 43 seconds. I managed a 4:50:xxx lap, but my dfgt wheel decided to go boom. I was finally getting more comfortable with the car, red lapped a 4:20.

Down to a 5'14" after changing ABS to '1'. Gold is within reach, but no way I can get the poster prize. I saw the current #1 replay in the world and that's simply insanity. How anyone can see what they're doing with all of the camera shake in 'Normal' cam is beyond me.

I was able to go faster by turning asm on and switching to automatic, I was already using as: strong tcs 5 and abs 1.

I use a DS3 with ABS 1, TC 1, Active Steering Strong and Sensitivity 7. My best clean lap is 9:59.***. My best lap that I have ran is 7:18.*** but I had a couple of problems with going off the track on that one. I have tried Automatic transmission a few times, but a lot of the runs I've tried I just put the transmission in 3rd and leave it there until I hit the last straight and then I will up-shift all the way to 7th and use the low drag button just to cut my time as much as I can.

I will probably wind up buying the car after the event is over with, but I'll keep trying to win it until then.

Managed to get a 5:29.88x (I can't remember off the top of my head exactly what it was)! So I've got silver!

I actually got that time by hammering the throttle to get across the finish line in time. I saw I was close and didn't want to risk not making it—which, given how close my lap time was to the requirement, seems to have turned out to be the right instinct. I ended up flying off the track and crashing before turn one, but it got me the silver lap time, so I was okay with that. :)

Top dude is at 3:11, which matches the best time I can see that's on YT for the X2011.

Could this car actually be faster than the red bulls? Probably not on tracks with short straights and lots of curves, but it remains to be seen.

Speaking of that... I watched that video like 2-3 times and it's amazing every time, almost looks like it's being fast forwarded xD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that X2011 time was from GT5. On GT6 I believe the times are slower.

Done with this. Too frustrating. Just don't have the patience. Can't even make bronze. A 6:15 is my fastest, and I think that's as good as it's going to get for me. The popular belief is that this car has too much front grip...I'm not on board with that. This thing steers with too much of an "arcade" feel and it has no practical purpose other than a marketing gimmick. I'm aware that others have had success with this car, but I have not found a sweet spot where it's even comfortable to drive for me. Also, I wish these VGT cars would stop with the "technology that hasn't been developed yet" and the pop-up panels that seem to produce more lift than downforce. I have to restart countless times to even complete a single lap. In most cases, my negotiation of a single corner is done in fear, as I constantly worry about having to over-correct, will the car spin when it touches a blade of grass, will it instinctively dart toward the inside of a turn with mild steering input, do I "anticipate" having to correct for this in mid-turn...the list goes on and on.

May I ask what wheel you have if any? I can't say it enough but for those with Logitech if you can use the wheel hack to put your wheel in 240 degree mode you may be surprised how much it helps. Rather than making huge adjustments it's very small adjustments. I know it helped me do my times.

Unfortunately, for me, I use a DS3. Been on the fence with getting a wheel.

I think I may have done my best at 3:50....do not know which way to get faster.....back to the Focus and 6:20's....afraid my wheel will explode....to everyone trying to get better times...KEEP IT UP......

Yes, it's a GT5 replay. Dunno if the difference is significant, but I'd be confident the GT6 X2011 could hit that target @ 979pp.

I'm the opposite. It usually takes a few restarts before I stop turning too soon and tight with my G27 at 900°. If I had it at 240°, I'd be in even worse trouble! It's already too responsive, in my opinion.

For this event, my FFB torque is 3, sensitivity 2.

Got the car 5:38, yeah I know thats crap but when you consider I spun twice with no red time, because I did 1 U-turn, 1 three poiunt turn & one hill start.
Then It dawned on me when I crossed the start finish line that if I threw in a reverse park I'd have passed my driving test in a 2600hp car!

I decided to swallow a brave pill and grow a pair and drive as fast as my reactions would let me. :P

I was rewarded with a sub 4:30 lap and it was good for 3rd in the world.
Nice! I'm still trying to get a clean lap. Have kept going after invalidating, and got 4:36. At least I know I can get gold, just gotta do it!
Like old mate from SRT said, it definately does take all of your concentration and raises the heart rate!

I truly envy anyone with hands quick enough to steer this mongrel!

Well sir, I've just done a 4:43 with a ds3. Tc 1 abs 1 and sensitivity 7. I took it very cautiously in the last minute or so so I know I can go quicker but that would probably result in a broken ds3. Although I did speed up to the line and got my next lap cancelled after 0.4 seconds :)

If you have enough tries at it anything is possible. Even the GT5 vettel events could be golded with a DS3, although it would probably be easier to get to the moon on a pogo stick...
