Standards given some love by v1.06?

Definite improvement on a bunch of cars. The HPA R32 now seems to have depth to the grille/ front emblem, same with the Bora, the 190 Evo. Previously they seemed like a flat surface with the grill drawn and shaded in. Also the Impreza WRX STI Version V look very cleaned up, used to have grainy gritty shading on the lower part of the body and doors. Lots of vehicles' wheels have more depth to them as well. Various markings on vehicles are a lot more crisp too.

The Audi RS6 has a very cleaned up headlight/corner marker area which previously looked so bad you could only take pictures from a mile away to look good

I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but I think the extremely bad looking standards are ports from GTPSP. That would explain them looking worse than in GT4. Why they did that, I don't know. Maybe PD was pressed for time.

Must take a look at those. How are things in Not Fancy? :D

All cars look better, PD have changed the paint shaders - I noticed it on a Premium car first.
Some Standard cars have been reverted to how they should look, i.e. how they looked in GT4.

That is all.
It has been shown many times in this thread that you are NOT correct. Not all cars have been "reverted" to anything. Many of the cars in this thread look EXACTLY the same. Especially the Berlinette. It still has the jagged tail lights from the PSP version.

Is it just me or have the standard cars been given a little love by PD in the new update. I only ask because i was watching a bit of a b-spec remote race with my bob in the aston martin vanquish from early 2000 and it occured to me that the sheen and quality of the car looked really good.

I then with that in mind went into the UCD and looked at 10-12 cars and again got the impression that they just looked a little more polished, not premium standard by any means but just a little shiner and more vibrant.

Iv also noticed that the screen tearing while still present seems to be much less noticeable and occurs far less.

So anybody else noticed this or have i just got post update 1.06 delusional sickness lol!!!!!

You guess is good as mine.

What Toronado said, but I probably should have phrased my last line as "That's all" as in "That's all they've changed" rather than "That is all" which may easily read "End of discussion." and is not what I meant.

This insight from the PSP version probably helps explain why so many cars are of the wrong level of detail. It still doesn't clarify whether we're having to download the full-LoD models with the patches, though.

Well I'm a believer now, I checked the standards in my garage and some definitely look a lot better, I would guess about 10 out of 130 of them in my garage have been improved, could be more though, I didn't get chance to list them down but I will do later so people can look for themselves.

It seems to be mainly cars with livery on them from what I have seen.

Non believers should open their eyes and look for themselves or they should check all cars rather than one or two that haven't had any work and they will see that it's true.

Wow. Surprising to see some of the comments, I think the peeps calling the improved detail on Standard model fake, or a placebo are quite foolish. First off it's quite evident the detail has been improved, you need to be blind or dumb not to see it (while not all models are improved for the ones that are it's clear. Someone even mentioned that if it were true then PD would be "shouting" it all over. Well Kaz DID mention it, he said he was going to double the pixel detail as well as adding cockpit views to some (while I haven't seen the cockpit view on any standard cars it doesn't exclude the possibility.) Standard cars.

This is only a game, but it is Kaz's legacy to gaming, he will continue to work on GT5 no doubt.

Don´t you think, that the standards update is worthless or not useful, when so many people can´t see any difference?

Where is the sense to compare before/ after screens when this is the only way to see the difference? It will be useful, when nobody needs this before/after screen-thing and can see it without a doubt.

Good point, from what I have seen there are only a few that look to be improved, three that spring to mind are the HPA Golf R32, one of the racing lupos and the original VW beetle.

Like I said out of my garage there aren't many that do look better so overall I can't say exactly how many cars in the game this covers, I will have a look later to get a list of the cars that I think have improved so you can judge for yourself.

You could well prove me wrong , tbh the cars I've mentioned I didn't take much notice of before this thread :scared:.

Here's a list of cars in my garage which I think look better,

Amuse S2000 GT1 04
Ford GT40 Race Car 69
Original VW Beetle
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Turbo 98
Alpine A110 1600S 73
VW Lupo GTI 01
Ford RS200 84

See what you all think.

The HPA Golf I mentioned in an earlier post does not, it still looks bad imo.

I bought the Audi group B rally car from the online shop and thought it looked pretty nice for a standard car. Improved livery textures

I noticed some extra detail. Alot of the USD look better some how. Most of the Standard cars looked worse in GT5 than they did in GT4 or GT3. Good to see some loving for 80% of Standard cars in the game !

Gtpsp cars are better quality than 4 my friend.. at least the Bugatti is its a gtpsp port.. its by far the only standard that doesn't have jaggies.
