Standards given some love by v1.06?

Well the general concensus here seems to be that there is an improvement

It definately seems to be more noticeable in the showroom, the cars are more vivid and vibrant probably due to improved reflections and lighting. Im noticing alot of people are commenting on cars not having jaggie edges fixed but i dont think thats where the improvement has come from, jaggies are still present on most standards when you go close enough.

Il be honest iv not noticed a much if any differences in the comparision photos posted by people(appreciated people) but i think this is down to the fact photomode does a great job of hiding and cleaning up problem areas on standard cars anyway, iv taken many pics of standards that look great.

As mentioned before the improvement seems to be an improved lighting methond on the standards that give them a better sheen and look more polished, most noticeable on replays and showroom mode.

Consensus seems to be people THINK that there is an improvement. Unfortunately, nobody seems capable of providing any PROOF irrefutable. And plenty seem to have provided proof that things have not changed.

But hopers gotta hope...

Wow, havent you even checked your garage?
I for one had Mercedes SL65 and before it had a bent up bumper which didnt look so nice. Also there was missing details like air ducts and things.
Next thing you know it's got air ducts on the side of the front bumper, the front bumper aint bent up anymore and the shine looks absolutely different.

You talking rubbish m8.

Pictures, before and after...

How many pictures you got to look at of identical 1.05/1.06 cars before you consider you MIGHT have misremembered it (or race damage fixed itself)?

It was a 300MB update. How much of that do you think was missing air ducts?

Second that 👍 People see a lighten star at the sky and believe, there are aliens out there.

I really think we got a fair amount of new car textures in that last update.
300 meg seems a LOT for basically extra bits of code for menu tweeks and AI etc.
What we need is for someone with GT5 running on 1.05 to take photos for us of the cars we think look better!

What we need is someone that ALREADY took a photo of a lousy car in 1.05, then stage the EXACT same photo in 1.06.

Oh, whoops...! Already done.

I think they just improved some cars which were really locking bad before 1.06.

Hm, maybe will get a big update next time which improves all standards, like fixing the textures and decals on race cars.

This.. 👍

People are confusing the two. Apples to oranges.
I'm talking about garage not replay.
I was checking out my standards and pretty much all of them had improvement. The only car which seemed the same was my Lotus Europa which looked fine to begin with.

Stop acting like we don't know what we're talking about.

Load of rubish, obviously took the photos at the same time and changed angle and or position. This guy obviously wouldnt of been able to replicate the exact same scenario for every pic :ouch:

Not all of the Standards have been "touched up". Nobody is saying that they have been improved beyond what they looked like in GT4. For example, that Hommell doesn't look that bad in GT4, neither did the Alto from before 1.06.

The "evidence" is there for all to see. What had already been guessed at is that simply, somehow, the LoD for certain cars is incorrectly set in GT5. That means the data is already on the disc. I'm sure other cars will follow in future updates.

IIC
Took a quick snap of my Honda, as I already had an older photo of it. Can you tell which is post 1.0.6?
Click for big version.

I think the right pic is from 1.06... because you upgraded you car with an rear spoiler lol... I don´t see any other difference...

It must be an placebo effect that you guys think they improved the graphics... Maybe only on the extreme worse looking ones...

I took those photos and it took me a good 2 hrs to recreate them, I know the tracks well enough to know what corners each photo was taken. They are before and after the patch!

But I agree with other people, it's the garage where they look better!

All cars look better, PD have changed the paint shaders - I noticed it on a Premium car first.
Some Standard cars have been reverted to how they should look, i.e. how they looked in GT4.

That is all.

You know you played to much GT5 when...
...you wake up in the morning and say "Damn, I look so much better, must be the new shaders I installed last night!"

:D

A lot of standards look 1000 times better. They did some pretty major graphical changes, and not just to the cars. Shadows are different, shaders are different (I'm no longer blinded by the sun coming out of the tunnel on High Speed Ring/Reverse), they added bloom to the sign reflections at night, and I think they fixed the headlight bug where the lights would shine through hills.

Not all of them, though. One of the Legacy sedans is still screwed up, for example.

I just found this thread and I thought I was the only one but the VW Nardo looked some how better in a B-spec race. I think it was the reflections that were improved. I think some cars simply had Lod issues. The Lod models were either missing or unused. The patch fixed some cars like the Alto but not the Hommel. Maybe in the future they will fix some other cars' LoD. I believe the models are on the disc but were not used for some cars.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? : D In fact the newer photo is on the left, I took off the as it doesn't suit the car. :D

they have all been upgraded differently, I notice some sponsor logos is more high res compare to the rest of the body texture on the Toyota GT-One, however some car doesn't change a bit. BP RX7, Falken R34 GTR Race car for example.

Can't really notice the lighting and shadow improvement so far.
