Standards given some love by v1.06?

None of before/after comparisons are taken the same way

replay mode adds a motion blur, and the photo mode definitely touches up the cars looks a bit.
I'll be frank: The things that you think you know what you are talking about you don't really know what you are talking about.
Motion blur would not cause the changes that are seen in post #9, nor can you touch up the Before pic to look like the After pic. They quite clearly have a completely different polygonal mesh from one another.

Yeah standards are definately touched up a bit. Bit better reflections from what I see and impoved resolution textures on the ones that were bad, and Lots of license plates that were all pixelated (speed 12) arent nearly as bad.

We did some race testing in the Fireblades last night... the standard model looked much better!

1.06 seems to have done a lot of stuff 'under the hood' - it's made me very confident that PD are actually fulfilling their promises!

Switchblade.jpg

The fireblade always looked great. This doesnt look any different to me. Ive examined the car in photo mode and its borderline premium quality minus the headlights

Yeesh, I guess there isn't much of a fix here. Those jaggies on the side of the Mercedes CLK GTR Race.. I so wish they could clean those up. Please ditch those last gen textures!! :ouch:

If I might give my two cents about the Alto Works, to me it just looks like PD mistakenly put a low LOD model at the top LOD model's place, as it now look pretty much as detailed as it did in GT4. I don't think they actually did any remodeling of the mesh, just fixed the mistake.

The reflections seem to have gotten a nice update though. Glass now renders real purdy.

Did the Mercedes-Benz CLK-55 AMG have 3D wheels before the patch?

I don't think, now as we can see PD have updated the wheels of almost every race standard car, some texture decals here and there looks better, and they improved the reflections. It's a nice work but for sure is not enough, that CLK GTR still have some low quality textures expecially in the mudguard zone.. I hope this is just the beginning of a big restyling work that will bring us some standard to premium conversion or at least some much better looking standard cars

I've noticed that as well, though I wasn't sure on how 2D or 3D they looked, the CLK55 was one of the worse looking standard cars. I think it was because they tinkled with the renedering, most of the standard cars with more curves, lines (eg. CLK55, SLK230, Supra, FTO, XKR) is looking better than before the 1.06 update

Another thing that leads me to believe some standards were upgraded, is that I get the 'Installing...' notice when viewing some of my previously bought cars.

yes this^^ I will play soon and try out as many of my favourites as I can and come back with anything i notice that is improved.

And if GT5 was anything like GT4, we wouldn't have anything to worry about, either... :sly:

I didn't like GT4 :sly:. Honestly if I hadn't have played the game, from all of the comments about it on here I would think that it was perfect when it oh so wasn't.;)

My bet is that SMS/EA will manage to avoid the complete screwing up of the game far better than PD did. All SMS needed to do, to be honest, is get better physics than Shift 1, and it would ALREADY be a better game than GT5.

I beg to differ after all this is your opinion, I think it's got a lot more to do than to have better physics than shift 1 which to be frank won't be difficult to better as the physics in shift 1 were 🤬. I will say no more though as I haven't played it yet so I'll reserve my judgement until then.

On topic, something definitely does look different than it was before the lighting seems to look better more than anything.

I'm convinced there is more smoke and skid marks from other players cars when racing online, and also added some stones to the dust that gets kicked up when rallying close to the car in front.

I'm still sure they have done something, cos the cars in the UCD just look cleaner and newer and better. But, I went and took some photos of standard cars I own that I also had a photo of from before the patch to do a side by side comparison.

My conclusion, nothing has changed, at least on these cars I tried. I don't have photos saved of any of the proper ugly standard cars, as they are proper ugly lol

Would be interesting to see if someone could take some before/after pics of some of the standards that were really ugly before the patch to see if they still are.

Here's 7 different standard cars, before and after the v1.06 patch -

Well, that's TWO groups of people your opinion (and, good God! The whole forum is simply opinion... Do we ALL really have to place 'IMO' in front of everything we say? ) differs radically with. It helps to actually try to give some sort of EXAMPLE when stating this. WHY do you think GT4 the inferior game? WHY do you think, physics aside, that GT5 is a better racing GAME? I can give you a shopping list of 'game' features that Shift has done better than GT5. How about an example or two to back up your 'opinion'?

You know, so it is something more than simply 'EA sucks! PD rocks!'

This isn't the topic for this line of discussion. And considering the last topic that was for this line of discussion was swiftly locked, I'd wager that there isn't a place for this line of discussion.

Well I love standard cars. But I noticed that nearly everyone uses Premium cars online lol. Its like they hate standards. I noticed the improvement to, its awsome.

So guys, in conclusion we can say, the Suzuki Altoworks was updated, the rest of standard cars looks the same.

If there anything changed, it is just illusion by the player itself. None of the rest of the compare-screens shows any difference before/ after the patch but just different view angles, lightning and blur.

Maybe someone reinstall the game whitout the update and look them in the game. Not in photomode what you get on replay. But i think they look just fine when you are racing. :)

Get yourself a Renault Clio Trophy Race Car. Look at the wheel arches and notice how pixellated they still are (on the bottom).

It's great and all that it's possible these cars may have been given some attention but until they install a cockpit in them I could care less if they upgraded standard cars beyond premium quality. No Interee No Driveee

I'm pretty sure something has changed. If it isn't the textures, then it has to be the reflections. I've never seen a standard car this shiny in v1.05 (and it isn't chrome paint)

That made an exciting read, no really ;). Why not put it in this thread.https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=181399&page=15

Yep, I agree with you that something has changed. Most of the cars didn't looked as good as this before.

there is no before and after guys that alto works suzuki is from gt4 and the 2nd pic is from gt5

Stop being so gullible guys, you know what was included in that 300mb update and this was not or else it would have been stated.
You mean the changelog that PD published? They didn't mention Eiffel track, which is a big thing, something EA would charge you enough to think twice before spending on it, yet its there. I wouldn't go with 'the list'.

What´s up with the Eifel-track?

By seeing the pictures you guys keep posting, I do believe something has changed. I didn't notice anything myself though, the black stripes (don't know the word) separating the windows are still jagged as heck ^^

If you have not realised, not enough did change, right? :D
