Probably, as most people who have made sevaral maps have. I was thinking something classic like Lost Temple.

And I'm typing with a Dvorak layout... talk about slow when use to qwerty.

Holy shizzles.

I can't believe it.. The game god has finally smiled upon us and has given us what we've all wanted.

I'm soooooooo stoked over this game you wouldn't even believe me, everythig i've seen is amazing!! Truly genious.

So back on the idea of playing a game over Battle.net as a GTP thing...

Only problem would be picking a good time to get people logged on... and I think I have some latency issues (Stupid Clearwire)...

I mostly choose US East, and since I have decently fast cable (6Mbit) so I shouldn't lag. The only times I could play are 1-9pm (CST).

Well, I don't get off work till 5PM Pacific, which is 7PM CST... my friends and I do play on East normally as well... tends to be a bit less traffic, though might give me a higher latency. I'll change the thread title to announce the idea of a GTP Starcraft playing night or such.

You should start another thread on it.. Keep this one about starcraft 2. Ever since the announcement i've been starting to play starcraft again, though i usually play on US West. I'll play on US East sometime if we can get a good group of people together to all play at the same time.

:]

I'm up for some StarCraft tonight. I'm a bit rusty so I feel like doing some 3v5 comp or 4v4 comp. I've got a couple of maps I've accumulated over 10 years as well as some I've done--I have tons of styles too. Maybe we can get a good map archive going between all of us. :)

Oh and I agree with the above, keep this thread about SC2 and split these posts to a new topic.

Wow, just watched the SC2 gameplay trailer at a mates house, I'm pretty tweaked about this now, it looks awesome. I dusted off the old SC disc and reinstalled it and been playing through the campain all afternoon...

Pity I never got into online, I never had an internet connection back in the day and by the time I had one I'd moved on from Starcraft.

Well, go visit the thread we have for it in this area, as we are trying to a decent sized gaming group assembled to play SC over the net.

All I've seen from the website so far is that the game will not be released this year. Anyone have any better ideas when this will come out?

I've loved every blizzard game I've ever played and I imagine this one won't be the first to break that streak. The only way I could be any more stoked is if they'd announced Diablo III.

Looks to me like there is still a carrier in this game afterall.

Yep, they decided to keep the carrier.. Just upgrade it a little bit.

I'm still stoked for when this game comes out. I just hope it will run on my system...

Which is pretty sad, because back in the day.. Man.. my system was fast!

The more pictures and videos I see of this game the more I can't wait for it to release. That was some great gameplay too. Those guys made such good use of the terrain, units and abilities.

You can't play Starcraft better than a Korean.

Apparently not - I've heard they have a TV Channel dedicated to showing StarCraft matches... Though, the guys playing the match in the BattleReport - I wouldn't play any of them ;-)

I missed it before, but there's a First Battle Report as well to be found here: http://www.starcraft2.com/features/battlereports/1.xml Same players, different map and Protoss vs. Terran.. Protoss looks really interesting in SC2..

And for those who missed Blizzards April 1st joke, it's right here - The TerraTron

Well, I forgot I made this thread, but anyhow...
Beta is out

Wondering who all is in the Beta on GTP, figured maybe we can get some group games going. So, post your B.net alias in here if you'd like, and I'll get around to creating a list of GTP users, which I'd place on the first post for easy reference.

Those of you wondering about how the Beta plays, just think how the original played, just streamlined to allow easier unit control and base management. Graphics are quite nice as well, but run on lower spec machines so a few hundred dollar computer from a year ago or two will run it on medium - low specs smoothly.

The streamlining I mentioned is as follows

  • Unlimited select - You can now select any number of units and assign them to a CTRL group, so no more 12 man groups.
  • Multi-Building Select - No more having to build at each Barracks manually, now you can just select all of them at once for mass production.
  • Smart Casting - Groups of casters will now cast only time for each key press; no more casting 8 psi storms in one place because you had 8 templar selected.
  • Auto-Mining - Set minerals or gas as the rally point from your Command Center/Nexus/Hatchery
  • Left hand hotkeys - All hotkeys have been adjusted to be left hand friendly; no more reaching for M to build Marines, its now A, etc.
  • Queue buildings - SCVs and Probes can be given building queues, so you can assign a single unit to build numerous structures after each other.

I am sure I forgot something, but those are the major ones. The result is less focus on micro'ing your base and casters, more focus on actually implementing a strategy and tactics.

Here is a good video from a tournament that was run last month...

I can't wait for this and Diablo III. I was so hooked on SC, D2 (and 1 in its days) as well as WC3 and TFT. Lucky you!

I applied for this the other day (them taking details of your system) and hopefully I'll get chosen.

I only had Diablo II to register with on their website because my WoW one wouldn't link - I'm hoping this won't affect my chance to get chosen...

G.T., chances seem relatively random.

But they released the Map Editor now, and have added a lot more features, so it appears release can't be too far off. I myself now get to play in the big leagues since my cousin and I qualified for Platinum league play as a team...

Just a touch nervous, as we can scroll through the division and see all these famous players lol.

Well, PC World is reporting StarCraft II will be in stores, globally, July 27th (yes, this year). Article here, but I a seeing reports across the community that agree with this date.

So, exciting news. Only took 3 years from announcing it to having it out. Well, having a date to have it out.

If anyone is bored and wants to watch some gameplay, my cousin and I intend to do some 2v2 shortly, shown via Livestream here. 2v2 Platinum ranked so not terrible games and we will be having a Skype call at the same time so you can hear us talk while we play (caution, we do swear. Sometimes a lot, so language warning has been applied)

Yes, the Map Editor is insanely powerful. I've also played some top down shooter games that are fairly arcade style, Risk (Turn based) and a bunch of other games, such as the an AC130 ala MW2 style

I have a feeling SC2 may end up being the only game I buy for some time given how these map settings games are going...

Well the game comes out next week and I'm wondering who all here is picking it up then.

I'll have to delay getting it till later in the week due to school, bit once I have it feel free to hit me with up a PM if you want to play or practice. Fairly high ranked Protoss player that is down for fun games or serious practice for build testing and such.
