I would get it if I didn't suck at strategy games. In the first one I got through the Terran campaign pretty OK, but couldn't finish the other two without cheating.

Haha, it is just practice and understanding dynamics in the game.

Behold, an epic game played at the close of the beta by Tester (atop Korean) and TheLittleOne (a top European), Protoss vs Terran.

Mr brother will get it, I might play it but not online, too many hardcores using macros.

What are you talking about lol? None of the good players use macros at all, period.

Are you sure? Every time I verse someone they can do like 50 things at once and as such build a massive army before I've barely got a defence party. If I ask them if they use macros they say yes. The power of doing more than one thing at once right?

Lucky. I've to wait till Thursday to get mine because of an exam :(

Then, multi-player domination. Campaign I'll take care of on down days

My brother got it today I think.

I'm stuck at work, so I have a question. Will the stand alone game include all 3 campaigns for each race? (1 per race)

I think you are confusing Macros with Macro. Macro is the ablity to develop the game economy and timings correctly to optimize troop production and timings. A solid Macro means a player will focus more on producing an army than micro'ing each unit.

I myself have an APM (actions per minute) of over 100, and top level players sit closer to 300. We really can just build a massive army before many newer players have a force at all.

Reminds me of a game in my placement matches in the beta where I had an army that was literally 3 times larger than my opponents 8 minutes into the game, and of higher tech.

Here is a stream put up by MoMaN, a professional and multi time ESL champ. I've played him before, he is quite good. And listens to epic music while playing

There will be 3 releases, Wings of Liberty focuses on Terrans, Heart of the Swarm on Zerg, and Legacy of the Void on Protoss. No dates on the latter 2.

Big Arse Installation - 12Gb - More than my Steam Directory (-:

Don't know if I'll start the game tonight though, work has been absolutely horror today, and I think my brain has turned to chocolate chip sludge...

[Edit:] Decided to at least start the game, but apparently I'm not the only one stuck with a "This Battle.net account does not include an associated copy of StarCraft II" message when trying to login..

Much epic failureness on Blizzard for not sorting stuff like this.. I can find the same message tracking back into the SCII beta era... :-/

Well, activate it on your account?

I've played a few games so far online, and wow people are bad. Though I guess it can make you think the other guy is cheating just cause he has so much more stuff than you at the same point in the game...

Well, activate it on your account?

Noooo... You _think_ that'll solve it?.. Why didn't I think of that?.. *sigh*

It took me 2½ hours, multiple password and language preference changes before it worked - as said, I was not the only one with this problem....

Oh, fun :indiff: Did it have to do with the region on the game?

What is more annoying is, I assume, you are on the EU Server, and thus I won't be able to play with you since I am on the US Server...

Have NO idea what the issue was. After I changed preferred language 3 times, changed my pw 4 times, then reset the pw for my account, suddenly it worked..

If we do a "friend" thing on the SC2 servers, we should be able to play.. Even though you're on US and I'm on EU servers..

Installed and activated and played one campaign mission... Off to bed now and will play it properly tommorow.

I'll post my ID and friend code later today.

I've played about 30 games online so far, have yet to touch the campaign, might do that this weekend I think.

So far, I've only done campaign, but then again, I sucked at SC, so I'm fairly sure I'll suck at SCII as well (-:

Great story so far though!..

Anyone with a retail copy for the NA servers willing to share, or give rather I suppose ;), an unused guest pass? :D

Cool 👍. Uncertain right now if a EU code will work with a US account. I'll let you know once I get at least what seems to be confident feedback. Don't want to potentially waste one of your codes just trying it out.

I've got a US code from the Collector's Edition I just picked up, and no one that really needs it, so I can PM it to you when I get home from work tonight.

Thanks guys, but I just confirmed on the Blizzard site that each account can only use a single guest pass. So as I already used one I'm out of luck. I never played SC1 at'tal, or TBH RTS's much in general, so I was hoping to get a better feel for SC2 by using another GP. Thanks again though.

If you create another account with Battle.net you should be fine to use another key.

Did you play the campaign or online to get a feel for RTS game play, as campaigns never play how multi-player does.

EDIT: Friend code

Terran had a lot of changes, and in general, air combat is what changed the most it seems. The air units added in Broodwar are gone, I had actually grown to love the Valkyries.

I really, really, really miss the Science Vessel. :( No fair, I was rather prolific at using it back in the day. Defensive matrix... EMP shockwave, irradiate. RIP.

Yeah that is a good point.

I mainly played the campaign, the lava mission was the last I played, and twice 1v1 against a buddy. Boy did he roundly trounce my butt. Apparently my efficiency in resource gathering is rather slowwww let us say.

And talk about not playing the same, heck in some cases you don't even get to use the same units. During both games, for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the option to produce medics. Very frustrating that one. Thank god I wasn't waisting time thinking about trying to employ a fire bat strategy.

Haha, sounds like what happens when a novice hits the online scene in StarCraft.

Medics are in the campaign only, so thats why you couldn't make them.

As for resource collection, no one newer to the game builds enough SCVs/Drones/Probes ever. I usually train them non-stop till I have about 30 at which point I've expanded and thus I am training even more.

Yeah Cody and others in the know.

I'll probably be picking this up in the next week or so. But did I read correctly that you need different accounts for different servers? Is battle.net still that far behind?

Sadly, I believe so.

I wish more people on the forum were interested in this game, though I've got a group through Reddit that I play with quite often.

I think the problem with Starcraft is that it's very hard for novices. I mean, I'm a pretty big gamer. But even when I played the original I lost fun after getting my ass handed too me every time. Admittedly, the same thing happened when I was playing War3, but I stuck at it and started to hold my own. But Starcraft is so ultra competitive that it's that little bit harder to sustain playing while you learn.

I have a mate who is a massive gamer, spends half his life on FPSs and RTSs like CoH. But won't play Starcraft cause he doesn't want to spend the 6 months getting his ass handed too him before he becomes competitive.
