Hi everyone,

I am finally going to get a new game started on my PS3. I was wondering if I should just skip the whole arcade mode, because arcade mode usually isn't very good, or if I should play it because you have to get the whole experience from the game, or if (by some miracle) arcade mode is actually really good in GT2.

I have one other quick question: 1080p vs 720?

Well, Arcade mode is pretty good. Plus, it's a GREAT way to practice before you start simulation mode.

Nice point. Arcade mode disc is the best way to practice your skills because of the easiest possible access to all tracks in the game. Just save your car from SIM disc, then load it at ARC disc and select time trial. Important - the setup option is enable after first run.

Just a note too that you need your licenses in sim mode to unlock all of the tracks in arcade mode. Then, in arcade mode, you need to win single races at each track on hard to unlock the reverse direction. Normal unlocks a few cars, mostly Rally types and S class.

I did a fair amount of Arcade races in GT2 back in the day. The cool thing about Arcade is you can set as many laps as you like, I think it's a maximum of 99. Back in my GT2 days, sometimes I just wanted to race and drive for a long period of time, without having to prepare hours for an enduro. So that was the thing for me.

Another cool thing about GT2 Arcade (dropped during GT3 and 4 I think) is you can enter your own personally-tuned car. You aren't just limited to the defaults the game gives you. I liked this because I could experiment a lot with various ideas I had, without messing up my overall win ratio in Sim mode.

Correction Parnelli, you can race your own car in Arcade Mode in GT3. In GT4 you cannot, unless your doing 2-player splitscreen, then you can.

Cool. But can you tune your car in GT3? I remember I did not touch GT3 Arcade, and there must have been some reason why. > I'm thinking there's a lack of tuning?

GT3 Arcade mode was basically identical in structure to the one in GT2. You could also tune your car settings and equipped parts without backing out into GT Mode (which you could also do in GT2, but the process was quite annoying to do), so it actually was quite bit better in that regard.

Damn. I forgot all that. I must be getting Alzheimers!

Don't worry, you forgot something about a video game. No big deal. However, if you forgot to turn the stove off, that is a problem.

 If I forget to set my virtual car's parking brake? No problem. If I forget to set my real car's parking brake? ...That could be a problem! :dopey:
