Ah great, thank you, this pretty much confirms I'll get Wings of Prey if I buy nothing else. It sounds like what BF3 is to Arma II or what NFS Shift 2 is to rFactor; Authentic, exciting but not realistic, and most importantly it's cheap!
These games are quite more expensive than you initially think they will be...
So true, so very true... But where would we be without sim gear like wheels, sticks, TrackIR and stuff? We'd be using 360 pads, no thanks!
As for today's deals, if you don't have Deus Ex: Human Revolution I seriously recommend it, same goes for Driver: San Francisco, I was skeptical at first but it's kind of like a racing/strategy/puzzle game because of the 'Shift' ability that lets you take control of other cars so you can, for example, use an oncoming bus to ram a car you're chasing, then go back to your car and hit it from behind to damage it loads. It's got a good selection of cars (there's an Alfa Romeo TZ2 in it!), the city is awesome, the challenges that replicate scenes from famous films (movies) is great fun too.
I personally don't think Crysis 2 is worth what they're asking, especially not with DX:HR and D:SF at those prices. It's decent, yeah, and if you just want a good first person shooter then it's probably better than F3AR (I've not played any of them though), it's definitely gorgeous to look at, but otherwise it's just a bit generic and samey. The indie bundle today is actually quite good, I don't have Capsized nor Zeno Clash but I do have the other three and I quite enjoyed all three.
Oh and if you're a fan of casual stealthy-ish 3rd person shooters, Splinter Cell: Conviction is quite good. It has Ubisoft's abominable always-on DRM but you can turn it off (as long as you don't want to play online, but as the DRM is only a problem if you lose your connection then that doesn't matter I guess). It's not the best Splinter Cell (Chaos Theory is) but it's brilliant value at that price. Far Cry 2 is probably about the same, it's not stellar but it's a lot of fairly competent game for £2.49.
